one of the best 0-60 time on this camry, anywhere from 5.7 to 6 flat! i timed it with a stop watch multiple times. This is probably because of the colder temperature , but still, he had to start with a roll instead of full throttle on slippery surface and still pull off the best time yet. nice!
Can’t wait to see how the 2.0T accord stacks up! Happy New Years btw
Happy New Year, Pablo! I'm hearing good stuff about the Accord. Hoping to jump into one soon. 2018 looks like a great year for mid-size sedans.
The Accord is faster and more fun to drive from what I hear. However, their 1.5 turbo engine is having issues with engine oil mixing with fuel.
Great video and advice on techniques of smart
Markus Withak Thanks, Markus! Drive safe!
Damn 5.7 sec to 60 on slippery roads like this. Very good.
Yeah, a real pussy magnet!
Yea not like the Honda man magnet lol!
5.7s ?? More like 7s.
Babs how’d you get that
No chance in hell. 7s + is more of an honest 0-60
My 2023 Camry XSE V6 from Sept. 23, 2023, to Jan. 12, 2024, used 74.786 gallons of 87 Octane gas, have driven 1,234 miles. This averages out to 16.5 MPG.
Have owned the 2023 Camry XSE V6 brand new from Jan.19, 2023, to the present, odometer reading of 5,690 miles. Drove under 6K miles in its 1st year as year 2 just beginning.
Had it serviced at 6-month intervals, today was 2nd time in the Toyota Service Dept. and they said there was nothing wrong and the Camry is PERFECT. Just more lies until the Camry's warranty expires so they can screw you over for lots of money.
I do not sit and idle my car or use the remote start to let the car warm up. It just gets crappy MPG.
Other problems - The Air Conditioner blows a heat blast about every 10 minutes, the Backup sensor flashes the "Ghost" person icon and false audio alarm, and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) flashes often with less than 1/4 inch snow on the road.
Great Review Mr. Gray. I am really surprised at the Hwy MPG you were able to get. Car and Driver only got 29 mpg but it was done at 75 mph for 200 miles so go figure.
Thanks! Speed makes a significant difference in fuel efficiency, no doubt about it. Pressure on the pedal, too. Each lane change will use more fuel when you’re on the pedal.
29 MPG on the highway kinda sucks. Theres new Corvettes and Mustangs that can get that, or more, on the highway. If you got 33 or 34 thats basically what a lot of other comparable cars are getting.
As someone that just purchased the 2018 Camry SE, its a fantastic vehicle! I have the technology, and convenience packages, and its a winner!
Rick Hunter 👍🏻 Thanks for checking in, Rick … Best of luck with your new Camry in the New Year! May you ride safely for many miles!
Happy new year, Dan, for you and your family, do you know how slow the adaptive cruise control will go before you have to use the brake or when it disengages?
Many thanks, Pedro! Happy New Year to your and yours! The Camry XSE has full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, while the lower trim levels are not similarly equipped. I did not have the opportunity to test it at lower speeds.
I had an '84 Camry, this new one would have been like a Lexus back then based upon performance, driving dynamics and equipment. That V6/8 speed transmission combo is enough reason to choose it over the 4 cyl turbo Accord.
pedro fernandez 4 cylinder turbo Accord either has a cvt or 10 speed auto. But I like v6 better
Excellent video, I couldn’t find the price link for some strange reason, I’m looking to trade in my lease on a 2015 4Runner with 27,750 miles and purchase (no lease) a 2018 Camry .
Looking at XSE, SE, XLE all in 4 cylinder and all in standard features, I can get website prices but I always like to hear real people’s opinions,my reason for getting rid of the 4Runner is I’m moving out of NY and heading to FL so I don’t need the 4x4 anymore, and I’ve always been a truck guy so I’m hoping I can adjust to a car .
Thanks again.
Thanks, Mike! Making the truck-car adjustment can be a trick. Looks like my web host may have moved something? Try this page: carsearch.mpgomatic.com
Great review Dan. I was looking into a new Accord or Camry. kinda let down that Toyota isnt giving Apple Car play to the top trim camry.
Thanks, Season387! I'd reckon that Toyota will eventually need to give in to Apple and pay the licensing fees. The more folks that stand up and say that their purchase decision rides on CarPlay, the more chance of it happening.
Hey MPGomatic could you explain me something I have 2018 camry xse 4 cyl they advertise it as 28 city/38 hwy and 32 combined but my odometer shows 114 miles total and my mpg is only between 18-20 so i wonder why its so low ??? it should show me something around 30 not 19.......:( so is it something that will change if i will get more miles on that car?? i had jeep wrangler before so i didn't looked on mpg's at all but now I do and I wonder what's wrong I drive only on eco mode i don't push gas pedal like maniac so why i get only 19mpg avg???
Bebzol Low Miles on the odometer + a lot of idling, perhaps? Reset the average MPG display and go for a little ride on the highway, drive for ten miles or so.
Dan, do you confirm those mpg numbers by actually calculating mileage when you fill up? I find the computer can exaggerate the mileage figures
I don't have enough time with the cars (nor the resources) to do fill-up testing these days, unfortunately. MPG gauges are always more or less accurate (sometimes more, sometimes less), but today's technology is far more accurate than in the past.
I average over 40 mpg and just over 27 mpg on the city not bad for the 4 cylinder
I was getting 42-43 mpg on my 2018 Camry SE. I highly recommend the 4 cyl over the V6.
what is difrent beetwen camry se and L ???
@@tesla9936 Major differences. SE is sporty and has that fake leather seats which looks nice, sporty grill and other sporty touches. The L is so basic, it has cloth seats, different grill. Both have the same engine option.
I get 40+mpg in the 4cyl on highway trips all the time. It's fantastic and it's got very decent power
if mpg is very important to u get 4 cylinder. 4 me like 2 have extra 100 horses when I want it.
@@trevorc5477 very decent power? 9 sec to 60 miles?
I’m not averaging anything close to what you got my XSE has 3,000 miles and my best has been 31MPG I’m averaging between 24-29MPG on Eco mode
Highway MPGs are directly related to cruising speed. The faster you go, the lower the fuel economy #s. The NJ state speed limit is 65 MPH, so I’ve always tested with the cruise set to 68. Cruise off testing is generally between 60-72. I’m not an all out hypermiler, but I try to keep my foot out of it when practical, minimizing lane changes, and coasting (in gear) when it makes sense.
Great review, one thing that will quickly turn me away from a vehicle is it's MPG
Thanks, Ryan! Ten years burning down the road and MPGomatic is still the channel where mileage matters …
Ryan Botelho well there is a fairly powerful hybrid option available
Looks like a plane taking off
I used to live not far from there!
Yeah anywhere from 5.7-6.0 seconds really depends on how u time it, If u time it the instant he slams on the gas and the tactometer starts moving then 6 seconds but if u time it when the speedometer starts moving than like 5.7 seconds. should be close to what MotorTrend got (5.8)
KogoGaming he is not quite at a full stop though. Notice its at 3mph when he hits it. A slight “roll start” to avoid traction issues, I guess.
If you pause the vid at 25:58 the car is already going 8 mph, and at 26:04, its going 63 mph ...(you might have to pause it yourself rather than click my time frame).
This one run is not sub 6 sec. This is somewhere in the 6.1 - 6.2 sec.
Rated numbers are not always easy to achieve... for any car...
perfect conditions, good tires, launch...etc.
What's going on with Autobytel? No videos since November...
lfsracer79 I’m working on a bunch of stuff and should have a few posted over there in the coming weeks.
Yeah I also meant the other reviewers.
lfsracer79 IDK
hint: if u wanna accurately time the 0-60, just slow down the video to 0.25 and time it that way therefore u can be way more precise of when it (speedometer) starts and stop. once done just get that time and divide by 4. I got around 5.8 seconds, which seems to be what MotorTrend claim was the 0-60 time with their tests. The problem with this car is the gear ratios and it's really slow especially in the first 2 gears, once it hits like 4th gear it shoots up pretty fast. Accord on the other hand, the turbo kicks in fast and so it shoots faster in the lower gears but trails off in the later gears. If this car and the accord race to 60 or 100 from a roll i bet the camry would not lose.
P.S. also wanna add that this is like one of the only video on youtube that comes close to truly showing the new camry's 0-60 time, all the other videos got terrible time like 7 or even 8 fucking seconds because they're made by idiots who's car only got like 200 miles on it and not even properly broke in, they dont even take care of traction control ect and they even use the paddleshifters like an idiot.
KogoGaming I have Camry 2019 xse v6 and I get the 0-100 km within 5.7 that’s with some burning there is no way it’s 7s only the idiots who can’t shift properly and how to bring out the outmost of the tourq
Where are you ? :c miss the vids
Air5 Nation Thanks for asking! Winter is tough: the days are short (not enough light!) and the cold temperatures make it tough to shoot outside. I’ve been overcommitted with work, to boot, so MPG video production had to be put on the back burner. On the upside, I have time this weekend to edit footage, so I should have something posted. Stay Tuned!
In cold weather mpg is down. Just like electric cars range goes down. I average 22, but on steady long trip on the highway, I can average 32. It is not to far from my friends excellent 2.0 Accord. However if we both jackrabbit through the tank, we both average 16 mpg. You can't go wrong if you buy the Accord. However, i personally love the refinement and the sound of my 3.5 V6. I love the Camry, but for most people, i agree, you get an amazing midsize car with the Accord.
Carlos Guevara got a question for you cause there was this guy complaining on a review of the sxe v6 saying when he released the gas pedal it sounded like a door spring and that the gear ratio was poor and sluggish when hitting the accelerator hard to catch up or drop gears. This true?
Adrian Leon /No, but the doors sound cheap when you close it. Gas pedal feels fine. Yes, the gearing is towards fuel efficiency but never feels sluggish. I heard the 4 cylinder one feels sluggish.
Carlos Guevara thanks I'll have to test drive them when I get back from Korea maybe next year they'll add the apple car play and the features the 2018 accord has. I see the Avalon has some but that car is way more expensive.
Happy new year! I love the interior color but hate the name! XSE? Sounds like the cheapo version.
Happy New Year, Egginfools! The interior is SNAPPY! =) XSE = the high-end "sporty" Camry.
I have the SE. 7.7 seconds 0-60 :/
V6 sucks too much gas no thanks ....rather have a V4 with a turbo...
Great review and that is truly incredible mileage for a 300hp V6. Too bad the front end is so ugly in any trim level of this new and much improved Camry. A definite deal breaker for me. I would love to see what kind of mileage you could coax from the new Mazda6 or CX-5.
slow and boring as usual.
its a camry, what do you expect?
35.3 MPG is a lie, more like 17.3 MPG for Camry XSE V6. It must be he driving a i4-Banger. EPA website shows 20.5 MPG with 55% driven in city.
You’re calling me a liar? 😂
