Update; the Hipshot has been fantastic and love it. I haven't got your consistency, always working away to improve. The way people like you play is my inspiration, thanks Maelin
The bass sounds great. Don't put yourself down so much. You're a solid player and at the end of the day, that's the most important thing for a bassist to be. Kudos!
Thanks for checking my band.!!! and yes this bass it´s great out of the box....but with the mods it gets even better...some people are really bothered by the fact that the Dimarzio Pickup and the Hipshot Bridge are expensive mods if you take in considration the price of the bass...but, I don´t know...I just like this bass a ton...plus...even with the mods it´s cheaper than a gibson....
Maelin PTY hey, I got the same bass... I want to change the machine heads... do you think that is possible. ive looked on the internet and have found nothing on the subject. Do you think Schaller BML would do ? www.warmoth.com/Schaller-BML-Bass-Tuners-Set-of-4-Chrome-P139C731.aspx thx! rock on!
Haki Mann Hi there Haki...I`m sorry to say that my beautiful EB3 it`s no longer with me (my brother borrow it for a weekend a couple of months ago....hehe) but my best suggestion it`s TALKBASS....probably you`ll find something there ASAP...
Haki Mann sorry for the delay on my reply Haki, yep, if I´m not mistaken I think it was the Boss OBD3...that it´s one nice Bass OD if you ask me. Half the world hate it, the other half love it...go figure.
It was really great to hear how good your setup sounds. I am considering the same mods for a 70s Japanese EB-3 copy that I picked up a while back. Sounds great. I wish I could play anywhere near as well as you do.
Thank you so much ElZorro!! Go ahead with the mods, I personally find extremely fun to mod and upgrade my instruments....I learn a lot no each "adventure"...and if you practice 1 hour a day you`ll play whatever you want in no time.
Maelin PTY, don't be so cruel with yourself, you're not ugly. But I must admit that's the best sounding EB-3 I have ever heard! sounds like a big block V8! What a wonderful sound! Cheers mate!
I've been wanting one of these, and I had even already considered the D'Marzio as a mod. So this was a good find. And that... is a great shirt. Love HoF. \m/
Muy buen sonido! Suena mas gnarly que en mi Precision 50's, pero ha de ser por la pastilla del puente. Me gusto Cristo de 2 Cabezas, buen sonido thrashero.
Thanks Tinderwet...the difference between the stock and the Model 1....OUTPUT...the Model 1 owns a more defined sound plus the output it´s more aggresive and less "muddy" than the stock one. Being totally honest with you, I never noticed any volume difference between strings while the bass had the stock pickup...perhaps it happened to someone somewhere, but not to me..the bass it´s quite good out of the box actually.
Gracias Joseph por tu comentario...un buen upgrade para tu Precision 50´s son los Seymour Duncan SPB3...yo tengo un Squier P Bass Matt Freeman y le hice ese upgrade...bastante agresivo..y muy bueno.....
Thank You MrFredoux69.....I`m currently finishing a custom Jazz Bass Warmoth Fretless with PJ configuration...expect some real noise with that one soon...again thanks for watching and your kind comments!!
the hipshot bridge is a waste of cash on this bass. the original 3 point gib bridge, while limiting, can be easily modded to preform as good as the hipshot. the down fall of that epi/gib bridge is , the asians didn't drill the bushing holes deep enough to acomadate the bridge bolts in a full "in" position....the bolts "jack out" the bushings which raises the bridge height unknowingly. REMOVE BRIDGE and 3 bolts. remove bushings and put a few light smudges of epoxy on them and press the bushings back in polace. LET DRY 24hrs. now you can either drill the bushing hole deeper OR lightly file down the bridge string sadd grooves to give a LOWER action. reassemble the bridge to bass and you should now have a nice adjustable LOW action and you saved $100. the hipshot did nothing for sustian or tone in my experiments. it DID allow low action but agian this can be had with the bushing fix and the saddle filing. hole that helped
De hecho le puse la SCPB-3 (Quarter Pound Single Coil) y corta en la mezcla super bien. Lo único malo es que, como puedes ver en el video que subí, la cuerda de SOL suena mas bajita que las demás porque no se alinean bien los polos :(
That's what I feared. I have considered the will power p-pickup configuration, but I don't like the aesthetics on that one. I'd like 3 humbucker sized pickups and I don't like soapbars either. Gotta do some more research and figure this out.
uhhh Bao!! thanks for watching brother, sorry to say that the bass is no longer with me. But no worries, my baby brother took it and I`ll be able to do a new demo, but I can assure you it will be in a long time. From experience, the clean sound with the Model One it`s superb almost "piano like" with big bottom on the back...great definition and punch. Hope this helps...but if you want something more definitive...IMHO, you can`t go wrong with Dimarzio products.
Hi Krigg and thanks for watching. I´m playing with both pickups the whole time. IMHO I wouldnt recommend 3 Will Power pups in a single bass. This pickup it´s booming and brings low end bliss, but it needs a counterpart for bite and definition. I would recoomend a Pbass on the sweet spot and the Will Power on the neck position ala Billy Sheehan...
So did you have to adjust anything? Or will the dimarzio Will Power pickup fit directly into the neck spot of the EB3? or did you have to mod that too?
Hi there mjac...yep there is some OD action going on...if I´m not mistaking (it´s been a while)....I think it´s the Aguilar Agro....later I add the MXR bass octaver deluxe and then....the MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay....
Well, you can always use a TVJones mini pickup or if you don´t mind there´s the Seymour Duncan MM. I have the SDMM on a Warmoth Explorer and those things can bark like a mad dog!!
I have an Epiphone EB3, and I do enjoy it, but sometimes amps can't handle the sidewinder humbucker. I did just recently purchase a Pigtrontics Bass Compressor Pedal that has helped out the tone. Still not convinced, and have been deliberating on wether, or not to switch out the stock pickup. It's hard to hear the low end thumb on this, and that is what I am concerned on losing. Either way thank you for the review.
IF..you change the stock pickup for the Dimarzio, you won´t loose any low end on the contrary, it will be more defined and punchy. Take in consideration that the vid was filmed on a really cheap camera (including the audio) so it fails to some degree capturing the whole spectrum of the sound live. If you take my word for it, your sound will improve oceans with a new pup...Thanks for watching Jeremy!!
Maelin PTY yeah I figured it was the recoding equipment. I know it can be hard to record bass, and if you don't have a good mic, or speakers you will lose it.Thank you for the reply though, and it is something I am considering. My main complaint isn't even the sidewinder stock, but the NYC mini hum bucker. it's useless. It's so nasally, and it almost like the two pick ups don't go together to well. I even thought I putting in another full size humbucker there?
Jeremy Ward You might go that way too, actually there is a replacement for the mini humbucker from TV Jones. To be totally honest with you, I kept the stock mini humbucker and it made a good pair with the Dimarzio, so no complaints from my end. About the TV Jones mini humbucker replacement, I havent test it myself but I´ve seen a couple off axes on Talkbass.com that sport those....
Maelin PTY Ok thanks. I appreciate the feed back. yeah I was not able to find that replacement by googling, That is why I thought maybe two humbuckers.
there are 2 versions of this bridge...a "3 point" and a "2 point" bridge...just check if your bass works with one of those.....3 bushings or 2 bushings holding the bridge in place...once that is confirmed you can go on...it`s a direct replacement so the change can be done in minutes with home tools...just a tip..use WD40 when installing the new screws....
Anyone done the hipshot mod w a 2014 Gibson Special SG-3 or similar? Will the bushings still be an issue if I stick w the 3-point? How can the hipshot not effect sustain if the bridge sits on the body?
Are you playing with both pickups or just the neck one? I'm planning on a bass that has 3 of those will power pups, but I fear that it's gonna be too muddy.
Update; the Hipshot has been fantastic and love it. I haven't got your consistency, always working away to improve. The way people like you play is my inspiration, thanks Maelin
Thank you brother, you will get there, no doubt. Keep grinding!!!
The bass sounds great. Don't put yourself down so much. You're a solid player and at the end of the day, that's the most important thing for a bassist to be. Kudos!
Well thank you so much😃
Finally a bass demo video where the player can actually play.
Dude, you're badass bro! The bass sounds awesome! Love the mods you've done, and your effects! Awesome job brother!
This can be perfectly a doom 2 soundtrack, well made bro!
What a Tone!! terrific!!
Hello brother, you still have your EB 3?
Hats off!!!
Great vibe and music comin' outta you!
Very few people like you.
All the Best !
@@henrybonruiz Yep, still in the armory....a few folks been asking about it, but I'm keeping it for a little longer
Like a black Cliff Burton! Nice dark sound!!
LOL!!!! thanks for watching Haki!!
Maelin PTY

Maelin PTY
Ok thanks. I was wondering... is that the sound of the pickup naturally or do you have a distortion on it?
Haki Mann sorry for the delay on my reply Haki, yep, if I´m not mistaken I think it was the Boss OBD3...that it´s one nice Bass OD if you ask me. Half the world hate it, the other half love it...go figure.
The Hipshot 3-point replacement bridge is key. Spend the $80 and put one on your Gibson/Epiphone EB-0/EB-3. They fit - and rock!
It was really great to hear how good your setup sounds. I am considering the same mods for a 70s Japanese EB-3 copy that I picked up a while back. Sounds great. I wish I could play anywhere near as well as you do.

Your band also sounds good that bass is rocking
Maelin PTY, don't be so cruel with yourself, you're not ugly. But I must admit that's the best sounding EB-3 I have ever heard! sounds like a big block V8! What a wonderful sound! Cheers mate!
LOL!!! thak you Jeremias!! Glad you enjoyed the vid and sound....cheers!!
Man that sounds way better than stock....for sure!!!
The octave pedal part sounds so brutaaaal :D
Fantastic player and I share your enthusiasm for upgraded Epi basses ! EB0 here with Di Marzio Model One. Going after the Hipshot bridge now :)
Man stop saying u suck, u rock trust me!
Freaking great bass action! Also made me realize how much cooler I could look in the proper shirt😁🤘
absolutely killer, the tone is fantastic and your playing does it justice. Nice shirt too
coolest badass bassist awsome sound f@@ing amazing!
WOW amazing sound!
I've been wanting one of these, and I had even already considered the D'Marzio as a mod. So this was a good find. And that... is a great shirt. Love HoF. \m/
Awesome.. Some cool grooves there. Thanks for posting.
gracias por el video, compadre!

Keep it going dude. Sounds rude, like that neck pickup.
killer job man, great sound, keep the pedal to the metal \m/
Dig the tone. Dig the bass, and dig the shirt!
Thanks Tinderwet...the difference between the stock and the Model 1....OUTPUT...the Model 1 owns a more defined sound plus the output it´s more aggresive and less "muddy" than the stock one. Thank you Sir!!!
Muy buen demo !!! El drive está demás y el bajo debe ser grave tener groove faltan lowend que es el fuerte de es tipo de pastillas
Thanks that really sounds good did you have to drill any extra holes for the pickup?
uhhh Bao!! thanks for watching brother, sorry to say that the bass is no longer with me. Do you reccomend this bass for stoner doom? Al Cisneros type of tone?
20% bass guitar, 5% good strings (flat or wound, doesnt matter, I've done it), 10% bass preamp (distortion, fuzz, etc), 10% bass amp, 10% speaker and 45% YOU.... thru fingers or a pick.... Grind that coffee brother!!!
2:53 2:54 2:55
sounds super, is the mini humbucker activ?
Hi Harald and Thanks for watching.... The whole thing its passive. The output its low so I always use a preamp to boost eq and Volume.
Hey Krigg, sorry for the delay on you answer bro, parallel...
do you happen to have a clean sound sample? I bought the supertone and am determining if i should get the will power or model one at the moment
tight work dude \m/ the distortion sounds awesome! is that mainly the Agro?
Andres Natalino Hola Andres y saludos para ti. (assuming you speak spanish like I do bro !!)...yep, that it´s the Agro in a very low gain setting...
Btw do you have the will power pick up wired in series on in parallel?
This must be that so called "black metal" ;)
Sorry, could not resist.
Jonas Skog LOL...no worries man...I´m black and I like metal...so... :-)
