    Thanks Marcus,
Would be really cool to have a tutorial about fix 30 in low lights, settings and your recommendations

Awesome video thank you! Got a zv1 and having trouble getting the kind of footage I really wanted to capture and thinking about upgrading to the fx30.
I want to shoot workout footage that looks reasonably good, my gym does have a relatively low drop-ceiling with fluorescent bulbs..which I know isn’t the most beautiful of backdrops.
Want to get something that can bring out the best of what I’m working with and thinking fx30 with good lense may take things up a notch

I think you need a focus puller :-) I'm considering buying the FX30.
S-Cinetone is nice, with a bit of contrast and sat. but not too much, I think. Color of the Sony is nicer than my GH5II and has a less 'hard' image. Thanks!

ha!! Yes, I'll get right on hiring that focus puller!! I still see a lot of "jumpiness" in the autofocus changes with the FX30, definitely a bummer.
I constantly go back and forth between liking the image from my GH5 "more" than my A7iv or FX30....then an hour later preferring the FX30.......my GH5 is my typical "front" facing camera, while my Sony's are usually my side-shots (for most of my in-office/studio videos).

When you talk about autofocus, you should know that it refers to the body and lens in combination, and that it will be different with another lens, and even bigger differences with native vs third party lenses.

yep yep, for sure. I will say though, that, all of my Tamron lenses and the autofocus on my Sony A7iv are pretty much flawless......but using those same lenses on the FX30 has had different outcomes. But yes, I am then using a different camera. I have been updating the firmware on my lenses and I've had some better autofocus performance, but I haven't had time to really do a lot of in depth testing......but even my Viltrox 13mm seems to have gotten better at autofocus on the FX30 with that update.
I am just disappointed a bit with the FX30's overall autofocus performance when using the lenses I already owned and have had really good experience with on my A7iii and my A7iv. I assumed with a newer camera like the FX30 that the autofocus performance would be mostly identical......guess I was wrong.

@@MarcusHutsell I'm sorry to hear that. I have an A7C and was thinking to switch to the FX30 because of the 60/120fps 4K and 10bit files more suitable for color grading, but the autofocus seems to be a lottery I'm not ready for. (I have FE 35mm & 85mm 1.8, and apsc 50mm & Sigma 16mm. AF works reliably on A7C).

I find that my Sigma lenses are great with the auto focus, but the autofocus is probably best when paired with g-master lenses. I'll have to wait to purchase those pricey mofos! 😂 Thanks for the video, I appreciate your honesty. ❤

    Bro the base ISO for this camera is 800 & 2500 not 1600 & 3200 😂😂😂
    But I get it ….

Hi there. I don’t think I mentioned anything about the BASE ISO’s. And the base iso of 800 and 2500 only apply to SLog3/CineEI modes, neither of which I used for any of this footage. S.Cinetone has different base isos from what I understand.
I simply listed on screen which iso setting I was using….*when I remembered which setting I used.

@@MarcusHutsell I think he’s saying the performance will be better if you stay at the native iso. Seems reasonable to test autofocus with optimal settings if we are going to critique the af. Either way interesting video

@RockyMaiviaMiami good to know, and test. I just find it extremely disappointing that the FX30’s autofocus seems far behind even the A7iv.

Also, from what I understand and read about the specs… The base ISOs for S.Cinetone are 100 and 400. And I’m always at 400 when I use my FX30 as my side shot and that’s where the FX30 loses me a lot and chooses the background. So, it seems I AM at the high base ISO (400) for S.Cinetone.
