- Debating on which Breville Smart oven Air Fryer to buy? In this video I am doing a comparison between the Breville Smart Oven Air fryer BOV900 and the Breville Smart Oven Air BOV860. I had hard time deciding between both Air Fryers since I have a very small Kitchen counter. If you have a small kitchen just like me or very limited kitchen counter space, you might find this smart oven air fryer review video very helpful. I compared each one separately on my counter and how they look, I also have given the exact measurement of my counter to help you make a sound decision.
I was eyeing it for a while especially that now we are on the health side and also recently my toaster oven stopped working so I wanted to buy a toaster oven that has all features toaster oven air fryer and smart oven all in one.
I purchased my Air Fryer toaster oven from Williams Sonoma, and I fall in love with it, it is literally the best air fryer in the market, it opened a whole new world of cooking for me . It's easy to use and so versatile. It heats up fast and the food comes out perfect every time, honestly, it is by far the best purchase I have made this year

You can do dehydrating with the smaller Bov860, just pick a setting :"bake"or"roast" & turn the temperature down to it's lowest 120 f or 140 f (internet says you mustn't go higher than 140 f otherwise you cook it. I guess you can even do the "proofing" or "dough rising" in the Bov860 (internet says the temperature for that is 75 f), let it preheat to 120 f then let it cool down to about 75 f before putting it in. I don't think the dough has to maintain an exact temperature, as long as it's warm?

Thank you for the comparison review. I just purchased the smaller BOV860 in the red velvet cake color, and I just love it. I initially wanted the larger size, but this one is perfect for one or two people. And the color perks up my kitchen.

What a great review! One of the best videos I've watched so far. Will you be returning the smaller one? I was so hesitant on getting the bigger one because of the size, but they really aren't that different on the counter. Also, I think the price difference is so much worth it for the bigger one too. I tried to find both models on display together at stores so I could r decide between them but I could not find the models on display. Today I put the larger model on hold at Bed and Bath but I was still wondering what model I should get. After viewing your video, I am for certain going to buy the larger model. It was my good fortune to find your video tonight to help me make my final decision. I had already watched your other videos on deep cleaning the oven which I highly recommend. Cleaning the Smart Oven was also a concern of mine because some reviews have stated that these Breville air fryer models are hard to clean but your cleaning tips reassured me. I searched for a long time to get a written side by side comparison of all the features and internal and external dimensions for the many different Breville oven models. Your video is much better because your demonstration was so detailed and the visual really helps. I will be getting $80.00 USD off the purchase of the larger model with the Bed and Bath 20% off coupon. Currently, there is a $40.00 USD price difference between the two models at my local Bed and Bath. Thanks for your video - I viewed each model in the store and compared all the differences. The main differences I could see was that the BOV900 had Proof and Dehydrate which I didn't find myself ever using. The other factor was size.. The smaller one fit me a bit better and at the moment only cook for 1 so don't have a need for the larger one. Lastly I wanted black, and the store had the BOV860 black in stock :). I am so happy with it.. So far has exceeded my expectations. I really love it. It is great to have the toaster oven and convection baking. I am one who eats out a lot and bring home burritos and sandwiches.. It is super convenient to be able to pop them in and reheat them in just minutes..
I don’t use the Dehydrate function either…and like you said for one person the small one is more than enough and plus it looks so cute and nice on the counter😊 I am glad that you made that right decision that fits your need. Does your oven make the high-pitched noise that so many people complain about and seems to affect only that unit but not the Pro model?

@lagarde2011 Update..After over 1 year now I can't say I ever experienced a high pitch sound. I use it almost every day and still going strong. 🙂
I’ve had mine for 3 years and LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I use it 5-6x/week. I seldom use my oven!
I’ve worn it out and need to replace it 😢. I’m saving up for another one! I can’t bring myself to buy something different!

According to the manual, and checking with Breville, placing aluminum foil on the cooking tin can cause the oven to overheat. This may be why the top of your oven is so hot.
The cooking tin is very easy to clean. Just soak in soapy water for a few minutes and clean with a sponge.
Also, the bigger one is easier to clean inside; more of its internal surfaces are nonstick.

The price difference for me right now is about $200 CAD after tax/shipping. went with the BOV860, williams sonoma had one for $230 vs $400 for the BOV900! Thanks for the review. Liked the bigger one but can't justify spending almost $200 more!

Great review and comparison. Are you still happy with your Breville toaster-oven? I have had 4 Breville toaster ovens, over the last 15 years. The first one lasted 5 years, the second one lasted 4 years, the last two lasted 3 years each, just a few months past the warranty. I recently bought another brand, but I miss the Breville functions. I dislike having to get a new one every 3 years (even on sale, it costs over $100 per year for 3 years, plus the electricity). The first three had 3-year warranty but the new models only have 1 year, which is a big indicator that the company knows there is something wrong with its products. So I am interested to know if your toaster oven sill works well. Thank you.

I am obsessed with the Breville Smart oven Air fryer/ toaster oven …so far no issues at all! It has excellent performance by every function that I used…It is soooo convenient and easy to use, if you are on the fence, go for it with no doubt…honestly it is worth every single penny 💰Thank you got watching🥰🌷

Thanks for the helpful video. I was trying to decide between these two models, which I believe they now call the "Smart Oven Air" and the "Smart Oven Air Pro". For me, the decision came down to the size. I have a specific place in my kitchen where I wanted to put this. After measuring both of them at a local store, I realized that the larger size was just too large for my space. So I bought the smaller size (the Smart Oven Air) last week, and it fits great there.

Excellent review! I bought the 860, but it came with a dent and makes a loud constant high frequency noise when the lights are off. I’m returning it and ordered a 900. Have you heard any high pitched noise from the control panel on the 900? Thanks.
I am not sure but after you’re done using it… the fan goes on for a little bit causing little noise until the Air Fryer cools off.
Hello Spareamatch... I have actually read several people complaining about the high pitched noise from the POV860 while powered off. I have not heard this on mine yet, but was advised that the manufacturer is aware of it. Not sure how many are affected or for those with this issue whether there are any long term affects.. other than driving you crazy knowing it is there. :)

I try to clean it everyday, using the Fantastik Max Grease Cleaner...it helps a lot that I don’t get grease builds up, however, the best method I found is creating a paste with Baking Soda and Vinegar... you can leave it for few hours before scrubbing it. I will probably make a video to show how I keep it clean. Please update me on how you like it once you purchase it🌷Enjoy...

How did you manage to get the bigger oven for only $40.00 more for the difference between the 2 ovens hear in Canada is over $200.00 more.
I bought mine around Thanksgiving Time last year and usually Williams Sonoma do special discounts around that time of the year, so I really got it in a really good price. The difference was only $40 and with all the extra functions that the big one has, it’s so worth it to get the bigger one. I believe in Canada and Europe they are more expensive than the US.

You didn’t show yourself cooking very many items. I want to know if it makes a noise. There’s been some reviews on the Breville Home website that this makes a high-pitched sound when it’s idle that might not bother me because I unplug it anyway.
It does make high pitched noise but I think by now I got used to it. I think because I love it so much I no longer care. It is the BEST!
@@savorthemoment4440 well they have a reputation for tripping breakers and I don’t need that because the last one short circuited but it was a polarized plug not a grounded receptacle. Wish I wasn’t so sensitive to noise that would drive me crazy. But I always unplugged mine after I use it so maybe…

I want to dehydrate in the smaller one, I don’t see why it won’t but it just doesn’t have the setting. Proof also. And cookies setting? Why?
Probably you can dehydrate in the smaller one by using the warm or the Reheat setting which both can go as low as 120 …The smaller one do have the cookie setting!!

How long does the 860 take to toast 2 slices of bread on the medium setting?
The small or the large are about the same…I would say around 3-4 minutes

Thanks so much for your great review! Is there a difference in the preheat time between the small and the large one? For example, how long does each take to preheat to 400 degrees Fahrenheit? I saw in one review that the larger toaster ovens need more time to preheat while small ones even don't need a preheat time. Thanks!!!!

Both ovens I felt took same time to preheat, the larger one maybe tiny bit more but for me I don’t wait for it to get fully preheated to put whatever I want to cook or air fry…partial preheat is good enough for me
To preheat the large one to 400 degree on an air fry setting it takes about 5 minutes.

How long have you had each model? I am reading reviews that after about 1.5 months they start to have problems. Quite pricey to start having issues after 1.5 or even 2 or three.
I have mine for about 6 months with no issues what so ever at all. I cook a lot at home and use it every single day, I no longer use my big oven. I love it so much and have been extremely happy with it. I highly recommend it 💕🌸

They are the best….I over use mine so even if it stops after 2 years I feel I got my money worth 🙌
You can cook 2 different food at the same time with both models, or just the BOV900? What if what you are cooking are two different tempertures. I'm assuming that you start with the food that takes the longest and at the higher temperature first?
That is correct AmethystNY1958 and Yes you can with both models but keep in mind that the small one has only one Rack and the bigger one has 2, so with the big one You have the option to put 2 different food on different Racks and levels💕

Even the Big one has two Convection fan speed, one high and one low. I usually like the higher one…it Cooks food faster

Haven't been able to buy either of these for a couple months. Is Breville having problems?
I believe they were out of stock for a while because of the Holidays, also at some point they had 25% off the price....so people were buying them quickly...I think Williams Sonoma and Bed Bath and Beyond might still have them...check them out.

I didn’t think these were toaster ovens. I think they more of a convection oven since they do so much more than a toaster oven.
They do both --- Toaster oven feature and Convection Oven.

Sage Smart Oven Pro - not stainless steel interior at this price ? The customers must be total idiots. The zinc plated parts rust and die, all guards on heating elements are zinc plated, hello?
