Fuck yes. This is how I always assumed the Golden City was corrupted, by the use of blood magic to enter. Especially after what Solas says about avoiding using blood magic to reach the fade.
I the void and the abyss are the same thing, as well as the stone. What Dwarves refer to as the stone is the equivalent opposite of the fade, because it is underground people take it to mean a literal stone, but it is more a state of existence. The Fade represents chaos, possibility and all that could be, and the void, or the stone, is reality and order. Elves and Dwarves being agents of each on Thadas, the cross over of the two worlds. If demons are spirits unable to cope with reality in our world, perhaps an equivalent is the same for darkspawn, and it was the elven goddesses delving that tainted the Red Titan and caused the blight. Perhaps, also the story of the human king or god having his golden heart both on and under a mountain is an allegory for the duality of humans and their ability to span both worlds.
Huh. This makes sense as the Fade is creation and the Void is nothingness. What if, since the Fade is creation, Thedas is the "real" fade. The Veil simply removed the magical bits of the fade and locked it up. Since the Void doesn't have it's own Veil, it never got split. i.e. The Fade and the Void are two opposites. The Fade got split in two by the Veil, one part being Thedas and the other the "Fade" as we know it. The Void is still one entity because it was never split. I don't know, just a neat little thought.
I think its more to do with it using your own life energy it make it more difficult add on it that demons and spirits protection and just amount of energy needed to just enter the fade it take its toll he also say magic is magic a tool its all how u use it
I'm of the opinion the void is the source of blight magic, and is something like a portal or a way to another dimension. Blight and blight magic would probably be as harmless as solar winds in its indigenous universe, but reacts destructively in the world of Thedas. Over the centuries, the substance has been used and misused to the point of it's current physical state as red lyrium, darkspawn taint and extremely dangerous magic and enchanted items. This was such a great video though! Thank you for sharing a cool theory video!
I think the Void is the lower part of the Fade where everything is black. I think it is connected to the lyrium that enters into the real world. I think Fade energy flows through the Void and becomes lyrium in the real world. Souls lost in the Fade might be broken down with this energy as well. At its core, I think the Void is a realm of chaos and destruction. It exists to break energy down so it can be changed into something else. I don't think the blight is a source of magic. Rather, I think it is more like an element or component. Like how a frostrock can be combined with other things to make a Frost Grenade or Ice Salve or Freezing Coating. The magic produced by certain characters like The Mother, or Corypheus, or Avernus are probably not derived from the blight. They are probably derived from blood magic. However, if blood magic is mixed with the taint, then the taint could cause the blood magic to produce different results. It's like an ingredient in a spell, not the source of power behind it. That said, the taint could be a source of power in physical ways, such as how it could benefit a warrior or rogue in the Power of Blood talents, or how it gives the ability to sense Darkspawn. But I don't think it's a source of magic. More likely, blood magic is involved and the taint simply changes it. Blood is a source, and it could be connected with the Void. If so, then the Void has nothing to do with the taint, since this Void Within could exist within anyone, not just those who carry the taint. The Void Within could refer to blood magic acting in a way similar to the Void in breaking things down or changing them. No coincidence then that blood can weaken the Veil and pull demons through. The taint comes from the Magisters corrupting the Golden City. No question. All evidence points to the taint and the Void being separate things. Demons can come to be in at least two ways. They could form themselves around a dark emotion, or they could be twisted from their purpose as a spirit. I don't think the Void or the taint have anything to do with it. The issue with spirits and demons being trapped within rocks or lyrium is a separate discussion. Spiritual energy and consciousnesses can be sealed inside rocks, just like how magic or memories can be sealed inside runes or lyrium of the Shaperate. Same with magical items, like Flemeth's amulet or the Arcane Warrior spirit inside the gem.
Solas also said that ruclips.net/video/wdDJjNpHpPA/видео.htmlm23s Because of the things that he has said about them, I think that maybe, demons can be created in different ways. "Spirits wish to join the living, and a demon is that wish gone wrong."
And Justice said spirits do not wish to join the living. Or maybe it was Valor. Or both. In any case, Solas isn't correct. Or perhaps he is speaking from a time when spirits were different from how they exist now.
I don't think that Solas or Justice were talking about spirits as a whole. Solas said that his friend, the spirit from All New Faded For Her, was perfectly content to stick to its own little corner of the fade. I imagine that it probably depends a lot on the type of spirit. A spirit of Justice might be content to bring justice wherever it exists, and a spirit of Command might not enjoy Thedas because it cannot control its environment like it could in the Fade. Other types of spirits might feel that they can best serve their purpose on Thedas specifically
There is a banter where Iron Bull tries to debate spirits with Solas and of course Solas is to witty. At the end of the debate Iron Bull is like " Aaaa! COME ON ! " Lol .. Thats how I feel .. Merrill explains that demons do not really exist, a spirit is a spirit .. And one just need to know their virtue. A Spirit of Envy wants you to crave.. A spirit of Fait wants you to believe .. a spirit of Wisdom wants you to learn.. Spirit of Compassion wants you to care.. But it would seem like there are simpler form of spirits with no value. ( Shade ) And there are complex spirits with extra values ( Imshael, Justice, Dread Wolf maybe ) Valor for example, is one part courage and one part faith = Valor I think that Simple spirits fit Solas explanation but complex spirits not really... Shit !! I don't know ..
I disagree with this. I don't think the Void and the Fade are different things at all but different functions of one whole. I believe, as some of the lore implies, the Void is the place where souls go to rest. It is a place of death. And I believe we know where it is. The black city. I suspect to the living it will forever remain black. The golden hue that was promised is a thing that can only be seen by those who go there for their much deserved rest. To travel there while alive...it would change you, wouldn't it? You would have taken death into while still alive. Blight magic and blood magic are not really different so much as they are done from vastly different perspectives. One is done by those who are still either alive or dance to life's music. The other is done by those who are shadowed by death. But the core mechanics are the same. I do wonder if you could include lyrium into this idea as it is the blood of a titan. So maybe why it seems different from these other two is because, once again, the perspective of the source. A titan's viewpoint must be quite different from most living things or that of those who are blighted. My thinking of how they all work is sacrifice. You give up these vital energies to the Fade to bolster your own resolve.
The Gangue are also the demons that can be found throughout the Tombs of Fairel in the Hissing Wastes and if you have Cole with you he'll say those demons were dwarves. From that I thought it simply meant that Dwarves thought the impure spirt within the stone referred to themselves if one of them became a demon with the revelation being that they could do so in the first place. The void being within and tied to blight magic with blood would make sense given that normal mages at least have the capacity to learn blight magic like Remille whose blood noticeably had streaks of black in it, but that could have just been likely due to over-exerting himself while using this magic.
+MJ Mortals can't became demons, a demon is a spirit who dont want coexistence with mortals. Dwarves can be possesed as we saw in the calling and descent
It is possible that the world of thedas, the fade and the void were all one at one point as solas said to you back in Haven which we now know he is speaking from personal experience and not in hypotheticals that without the Veil imagine a world where the fade is a state of being like the wind with spirits being as comment as trees and if we go back to Dragon Age 2 Merrill telling us about elven lore The Dread Wolf (solas) told the creators (evanuris) that The Forgotten Ones had a great weapon in the Heaven's and The Forgotten Ones he told the creators had a weapon in the abyss we know now that Solas trapped the creators behind the Veil. so what's not to say he trapped The Forgotten Ones in the Void and separated from the world like he did the fade. it is also possible that when humanity and the elves were much younger as a species they both had access to both magics and it became a very part of them that's why even though the Void and the fade are no longer part of this world they still connected to both the fade in our dreams and the Void through blood.
Maybe the Void has always been a place/realm similar to how the fade is now? So if you were to pierce the veil, and kept going, you would eventually find another veil separating the void from the fade. That would explain why blight makes its way into the fade as the fade makes its way into Thedas.
A place or a thing? Is the Earth a place or a thing? I'm posing the question as the Fade was created by Solas as before all of the world lived in the Fade, so where did Solas stand while the Fade was being created? I would think that the ground itself is the dividing point between, what used to be the Fade and the Void. When Solas created the Veil it pushed both the Fade and the Void further apart leaving the world of Thedas in between. With this in mind, the quotes start taking on whole new meanings. It would also explain the corruption of a Titan that ventured too far from the void as it was a powerful spirit, whose blood is lyrium, that is twisted from its purpose, whatever that purpose might have been. Just a thought. Oh, have you done a video on the life and/or lineage of Andraste? If so, I can not find it. I can not thank you enough for your amazing and insightful videos! I have been binge-watching them like crazy!
(SPOILERS "Last Flight") To add more evidence of whatever: in the novel, there are two interesting passages: 1. Chapter 5: "What the Archdemon spat at them was unquestioningly magic, but it was like none Isseya had ever encountered. There was no sense of the Fade in its spell; nothing in the realm of dream or nightmare could have encompassed what the Archdemon made. It was a cyclone of darkness both spiritual and physical." -- Archdemons using Blight/Void magic? 2. Chapter 10: Here, Isseya tells Calien that she knows he's a blood mage. When he asks her how's that possible, she says: "I’m a mage too, Calien. I can see when you’re casting spells without touching the Fade." And the narrator states a bit later: "There was something different about [blood] magic." -- Confirming that the Fade and blood are two (kinda) separate sources of magic.
If the Void is an object, perhaps the Void is the red lyrium idol. Found underground. In a primeval thaig. That harbored rock wraiths. And a demon. Food for thought.
Well wouldnt it be a problem that Solas "approves" of blood magic but finds blight magic in any form unusable and corrupting.? Sure they are not the "exact same" but I dont think Solas would be ok with blood magic if its derivative is from the Void (blight magic). Thoughts?
Can you make a Video about spirits and demons? Or have you already? Why are there more diverse Demons than spirits? What demon is connected to what spirit? (Justice being Vengance and all. But how is connected too?)

Great lore video. I imagine BioWare is paying attention and adjusting lore as it evolves.

Heck. I've been mispronouncing 'gangue' this whole time.

I can not thank you enough for your amazing and insightful videos! I have been binge-watching them like crazy!
jaspr1999 but solas didn’t create the fade, he only created the veil
You're right. I meant the veil, but started using the words incorrectly. Thank you for pointing it out.
Maybe a bit of a stretch, but doesn’t Cole, when asked about the the red templars, say “It makes you nothing inside” or something like that?
What if the void Is in fact "The Black City"?
(SPOILERS "Last Flight") To add more evidence of whatever: in the novel, there are two interesting passages:

In the ashes of andraste quest. The ghosts make us face our sins as a means of redemption or cleansing.
If it’s like found in the blood is it like only accessible through blood magic? If not than how did andruil make armor made of blood?
Maybe the void back then was like a fade now a part of the whole but not easily accessible or so deep in the fade
Can you make a Video about spirits and demons? Or have you already? Why are there more diverse Demons than spirits? What demon is connected to what spirit? (Justice being Vengance and all. But how is connected too?)
My mind hasn't been this blown since the ending of DAI
Please seek medical attention. And sign this waiver.

as the 2 spirit noticed he would get destroyed , he knew he couldnt fight the light of the first spirit equal on, thats why he took in his desperation the darkest part of his soul to attack & taint the first spirit before getting destroyed.
while the 1spirit grieves about his tainted light and rested for a long time, becouse of force he used to teach and destroy the other spirit he felt weakend and was wondering if he would ever shine as bright as before.
so the first didnt noticed at first, what happened to the 2. the shattered spirit, it was like a million dying fires in the darknes of the void.
he wanted to walk over it but than noticed the different colours in the flames, some were dancing with the sahdows and some like him , like he was before, only much much smaller.

I always thought the black city was the void
Wonderful
void/nothingness sera fears nothingness
what if the void was made after solas pulled back the sky, what would be left, a void, death
The void os the Black city
First
