TC Helicon VoiceLive Play GTX - Demo by Christine Havrilla at Guitar Showcase

- TC Electronic and TC Helicon sent west coast-based Christine Havrilla to Guitar Showcase Wednesday, April 4th to demo the just released TC Helicon VoiceLive Play. This vocal FX processor has a complete vocal path: adaptive compression/tone, chorus/flange/modulation, Reverb, Delay with tap tempo, Harmony, Doubling, HardTune, Distortion, 30 second looping, and pitch correction. It also has an 1/8" input with voice elimination, practice mode with intelligent pitch display tracks and singing stats, and a built in USB audio interface for playback and recording. The VoiceLive GTX features all of these effects for voice as well as guitar, with amp simulation on the guitar chain.

Definitely one of the best demos. Too many use exaggerated examples rather than what you would use when actually playing a gig.

Thanks so much for this demo! You did a great job and have convinced me beyond a shadow of doubt that this box is exactly what has been needed for my music hobby. I have been bouncing around from system to system trying to decide what to go with and thanks to this demo I know exactly what I am going to get! Generally yes! You can try it out at our store. Sometimes it can be out of stock (it's a popular piece of gear). It does have some limited octave presets, but if pitch is the main feature you are looking for, you may also want to check out the TC Helicon C1.

Great Question Jack. The VoiceLivePlay GTX comes with great user presets out of the box; however, just like all multi-effect processors, there is a learning curve if you want to customize your settings. If you stick to the included manual, it's a walk in the park.

You can plug it into a PA System using the XLR Outputs located on the back of the device.

It depends exactly how you plan to utilize each pedal, but ultimately, yes you can. Where there's a will, there's a way!
Great question Laura. The Voicelive Play GTX has more features than the Voicelive Play because it was designed for guitarists as well as singers. It has all of the same features, but adds an amp simulator, reverb, compression, delay, distortion, and a few other cool features. For more info, check out TC Helicon's website; they have a cool comparison feature where you can put the two side by side!
We haven't stocked the Digitech VI 4, so we don't have hands on experience with it; however, there are some great videos on the Digitech VI 4 here on youtube. I hope that helps.

Wow, this is really cool... and I live in the bay area! I'm looking for a multi-effects unit for my flute. I've played a lot of shows lately where there's no reverb in the monitor mix and it makes it difficult. I play AC guitar too and this seems like it would be a blast to use on the flute. Way better then getting a rack full of OB gear to lug around. Does this unit have an octaver on it... and can I demo this at your store?

one thing that I have realized... if I use the dual-mono output (one for bass and one for my vocal) the two channels are going separately well to the front mixer, but if I put a jack cable in the instrument true output, for using my amplifier as a monitor for example... that cable blocking the right xlr output and then no bass going to the front mixer... :(

The loop function is fairly limited, only allowing the user to save one loop. I hope this helps.

Technically it would work with your keyboard, because the device actually reads pitch; however, the lower notes might create an issue. It works best with chords, but we urge you to come in and try it for yourself. I hope this answers your question.
HELP! I've just bought the voicelive play, we have a rock band, and I'm having some problems in our rehersal. We rehearse in a small room acoustically isolated and I connect the voicelive in just one amplifier, I don't know why it makes a lot of noise whistles really loud) when I turn the volume and the gain up and if I turn them down, we can't hear the effects and my voice is low and strange, it's even hard to hear the reverb. I don't know if I made the presets wrong or set up. HELP!.

The Voicelive 2 is a much more advanced machine. If you want more control of your harmonies, and more control of the tones, then the Voicelive 2 is for you. The Voicelive play is more loaded up with great sounding presets, with some adjustments of the presets. If you are looking for me of a plug in and play, then the Voicelive Play is the choice.
