TC Helicon VoiceLive 3 Extreme Demo - Live Acoustic Performer Scenario

- First stab at a gear demo here.
I want to really stress the idea that in this video, I am demonstrating a scenario where a solo performer (vocals and guitar) feeds a signal to a sound guy or front of house for a live performance. This demo is meant to be geared more toward the idea of evening out harsh guitars and giving a sound guy a bit less of a turd to polish while also maintaining a bit of "your own sound".
Edit: I realized toward the end of making this video that I needed to include a bit more of a direct comparison for the guitar sounds, so excuse the fact there is no video on those sound bites.
Hopefully this helps a bit with understanding this unit in the context of solo performance, and if you're running a budget guitar like I am.
Thanks for watching!

Sag definition:
Sag refers to the drooping of the power supply voltage in response to large transient signals, which lends a certain dynamic "feel" to the tube amplifier that is not generally found in solid-state amplifiers
The unreal & beautiful demo starts at 05:54
Bro, this is gorgeous. Very nicely done. Also good call on the A/B at the end; much more effective contrast as a listener than a the two separate tracks on their own, which was still of course very useful.
Subbed ❤️
You sound good even without effects..great voice..
Fucking tanner. Here I am looking for demos of the unit we used last night. And here you are. Sweet. At least I know I’m on the right product
Hi Tanner, what is the name of the song ? Its awesome. Do you have a recording of it available?
Fluff needs to hook you up with a sunscreen sponsor because got to protect the redhead's skin. Love your voice.
"Fluff needs to hook you up with a sunscreen sponsor because got to protect the redhead's skin. " That was so random.
my compliments , like your voice !!!!
thank you man, that was very informative!
hi you are using an ibanez electric acoustic in your demo of the voicelive could you please tell me the model number as ime looking for a budget electric acoustic and that one sounds pretty good to me.
Nice sound dude
It sounds like Mr Jones Counting Crows. You know how styles and chord choice are, probably it is a song by counting crows.
Omg I didn’t think mr jones but I def thought of COUNTING CROWS 🤩
Nice song man! Thanks
Vedderish. Well done.
I changed my VL3 Amp sound to Bodyrez1 and it made my Taylor sound like an Ibanez. Just kidding. I've changed it from the default setting to that, thanks. 😊
Do you really need to run it through a audio interface like the focusrite. Will it connect to a computer.
It has a USB port, but I've never really messed with that.
Yes it’s an audio interface as well as everything else. It IS a spaceship 🤩
Man which is that song?
Its pretty awesome!
Upload it.
It's called "Back to Back" by Dustin Kensrue 🙂
@@TannerSingsSongs thanks
Still i think you should cover this song 💪
@@user-jz6ry2wi1f Thanks! I actually do it live with backing tracks sometimes 😜
Bro, you need to credit Dustin Kensrue for that song - I skipped around the video so i'm not sure if you did in the video, but you need to credit him in the info. FYI.
Whats the name of that song, nice tune
Made it sound "Not like shit"!! LOL
Dustin kensrue fo life
Hi there... just bought the Tc Helicon 3 extreme... Help!!! never used a pedal before... there is no tutorial that takes you step by step...
AmeritalianVariety Duo I will try and do more of a tutorial on this thing soon that's more in depth, but TC Helicon has a channel that has some good walk throughs. Much easier to understand than the manual.
thats such a gnarly thing to buy if you've never used a pedal before hahah
I know this video was made a while ago, but will you share that preset for vocals and acoustic?
I wish I could but I sold that unit a while ago
@@TannerSingsSongs thank you, I can't seem to get to vocals to sound decent with rock vocals. Would you recommend a different vocal processor?
@@spykeg4058 that one does some amazing stuff. I would definitely recommend adding a compressor in tour presets, followed by a tiny bit of delay and room reverb. Biggest part of that sound you’re after is likely the mic you’re using. For me personally, I looked at studio recordings and what kind of EQ was put on my voice and emulated that in the VL as best as the unit allowed and that made a huge difference. It’s certainly a very versatile tool but it does take hours of tweaking to get the tone you’re after.
@@TannerSingsSongs thank you, I've been looking at the Boss ve-500 and trying to figure out if I need to switch
Bla,bla,bla,......toooo much bla,bla
Can it loop just guitar even when you’re singing?
Yes, absolutely. I use it to loop leads and play rhythm beneath it while singing sometimes.
It's so weird hearing your normal voice after getting used to your singing voice lol
Tyler Crews ikr when he talks he sounds like fluff
Did tc Helicon loose their singer?
please whats the name of that song?
Would it be better to connect the vl3 through the USB to PC. Or vl3 to audio interface to PC
Fernando Moreno Its mic to VL3 to interface.
Tanner Cowens is the quality better? Cause I know with the new firmware for the vl3 you can connect it to a PC via usb and use it as an interface
Fernando Moreno I haven't tried that tbh. Mostly because with my setup, I'm fairly certain I'd run into some latency issues. But I may give that a try the next time around and let ya know how it goes.
I’ve connected mine both ways. Sound quality is pretty much the same. USB will give you the total output of Guitar, effects, main vox and harmonies. Pretty simple if you are a solo artist/singer/songwriter.
With a bit of experimentation and VL3X tweaking I like to run dual xlr out of the VL3X to two channels on my RM16AI. You can actually separate the main vox from the harmonies and have each on their own channel in your DAW.
I cant tell what the TC Helicon is doing.....
So are you saying that is not your real voice....that it is all manipulated?
It's adding compression, delay, reverb, and widener on the vocals, and it's also adding width to the guitar, some reverb, and a little bit of amp modeling to smooth it out and remove the harshness of the cheap acoustic guitar.
Hello
Which function do you use for vocal widening?
Thank you
It basically gives the vocal a bit more of a stereo spread rather than being really centered in the mix
@@TannerSingsSongs ok but is it eq or delay or reverb which title?
@@mmmelihhh01 ah, it's a type of modulation I believe. A stereo widener.
@@TannerSingsSongs thank you so much 👍👍👍
Is there vocoder inbuild in TC?
Probably, but I've never used it. There is pitch correction built in, but I've never really messed with it.
What guitar is that?
Самая главная обработка голоса в этом видео наверное головной убор! Без шапки не узнают?
Whats the song ?
Dustin Kensrue - Back to Back
not very extreme, quite subtle. thanks anyway
this seems like a chat show as im 3 min in and still dont know how its sounds why is is these guys love to just ramble on
Lovely voice, but SHIT demo. Nothing happens with the VoiceLive 3 Extreme till over 7 minutes out of the 9.45 mins video.
6 minutes of talking.....just no.
Bla bla bla
Another usless demo .
Thanks for the AMAZING feedback on a 4 year old video.
