You have the capability to rout the outputs so you can still use you guitar and vocals so the are separated. Also you can pre-record you guitar track and rout it back into the pedal to use as a guide while you record you vox.
Nice job mate. Good to see something more "real life". I've had mine for a few years and initially used it a lot when busking. Yes it runs just fine off a 12 volt battery. I worried about reversing the polarity for a long time till I actually did once. Nothing happened. It did not even try to start up. No damage done. The looper can be a lot easier to use if you get a "switch3" or "switch6". My girlfriend even bought me a good quality expression pedal which can be assigned to pretty much anything. As to the looper, one of the best features of having it built in is the assignable input. I recently bought a Korg Wavestate which I run into the aux input. (and yes the Wavestate also runs on 12 volt). There is then so much more I can do running any or all of the guitar/vocal/synth into the looper, including overdubbing on each. Plus of course it is multi channel. Yes it's complicated but you only have to dive in as far as you want. You also don't have to learn it all at once before you can use it. What it is though is a device you can continue to learn and apply to develop as a performer. You are quite right though. It's important to get very familiar with what you are doing/plan to do before attempting it live.
I have the original voice live 3 that I bought from guitar center in the used gear. Still has the plastic cover on the knobs. I play a Martin guitar. Trying to figure out what setting I want. Is there one or two that you prefer? Also when I tap the harmony button when I'm singing the volume seems to drop down. How can I adjust that?
now in 2024, what to get? I formally sing,, I am not a guitarist... I play some piano, harmonica and drums.. shall I still get the VoiceLive 3 extreme, or am I better off with the VOice live play or just the 3 as those are cheaper?.. how to think now in 2024 with all tech coming out? thanks! from the Future!
I just researched this and here is what the manual says: Using the new “Mixed Mode” harmonies You can mix and match any of the available modes for the four harmony voices. You could have three NaturalPlay voices and a fixed voice, or two scale-based voices, one fixed and one NaturalPlay voice. It’s completely up to you! Mixing NaturalPlay, Fixed, Pedal and Scale modes in one Preset.
A close up of the TCH as you are making changes and explaining what you are modifying would be very helpful (See Andy give a demo on Reverb). I like your song very much! 😎🎸👍
You would have to record the guitar part to the looper without singing and then push the play button to playback the guitar part. Then you can sing over the loop without recording it. But if you try to record while singing and playing it will record both to the loop. So the answer to your question is yes it would loop both guitar and vocal. Thanks
You can loop from the guitar , vocal and aux input in any combination. You select what you want via the looper menu. It’s complicated but this is where the extra foot switch 3 or 6 comes into its own. You can change the source for looper on the fly via foot switch button. You can remap one on the front or use a foot switch 3 or 6. I have used the aux input to loop from a synth which adds a whole extra dimension. Be aware though, when using midi, it will receive midi clock but not transmit. This was initially an issue as I lost the use of tap tempo while playing guitar but have since added a drum machine with a tap tempo foot switch, to which I can midi sync both the synth and the Voicelive.
this does not support phantom power does it ?? i'm looking for a vocal processor for doubling effects to an maybe add a lil extra something to my voice before recording it into my mixer think u could advise me with your wisdom on this maybe please
There is not a phantom power switch in the unit, however there is a setting for a condenser mic. So that could be enabling phantom power when you use that setting. Also you run the voice from the VL3x to your mixer, you use an xlr cable from your mic to the input on the unit and then another xlr cable from the output to your mixer. So if your mixer has phantom power you should be good. I have run my condenser mic through it without any issues. I do have phantom power on my mixer. Hope that helps.
I leave mine on adaptive, it has built in controls to analyze the input and control it adaptively. But if you go into the SETUP menu and look for the TONE tab. There, you can turn the "adaptive" portions of tone (EQ, Compression, De-Ess, Gate) to "manual" and gain more control over the specifics. Thanks
Sure, you can mic it and run the mic into the mic input. However, it only has the one input. So you would not be able to add your voice unless you are playing and singing into the same mic. With all the sound options it has I think you would be better off running into the guitar input and then finding the amp setting you like. It has a lot of choices on each preset to choose different amps and settings.
So I just did some looping on my VL3X and there are 2 channels to record on but both appear to record all inputs, both guitar and vocals. So if you want to only record and loop the guitar you would need to connect your vocal mic directly to your mixer and not go through the VL3X from what I can see.
Hi both You can select what is recorded vox/guitar/guitar and vox or aux I use a switch 6 and have assigned one of the buttons to toggle through the inputs
maybe but for me, it's not worth it because I am looking for massive choir sounds. VoiceLive is not as powerful as Antares harmony engine. I noticed this when I was going through all the presets. Antares does do massive choirs but to get the same sound on the VoiceLive, you need 4 microphones, 4 VoiceLive units and a mixer at the end. That's getting very expensive. I wish the VoiceLive could layer multiple harmonies together so it can be done on one unit.
@@TheTruthIsFictionyou’re comparing apples to orange yes. The Antares is a computer plug in for VOX only. Third is a piece of hardware that is designed to do many things, including guitar effects, looping, backing track playback, effect automation, midi programmability, etc. etc. etc. You’re saying this isn’t worth the price because it can’t do one highly specific thing that it was not designed to do. Congrats for getting the handle on that gadget. I started with a good attitude, but from Day 1 it felt the opposite of intuitive to me. I've NEVER gotten traction.
