I hope DQ1+2 are improved upon in quality of life stuff… if they’re going to take the trouble to remake them in HD2D, they’re gonna need some light mechanical overhaul and some improved dialogue, etc
I feel like 2 has aged the worst imo. 1 is very much a product of its time, but the scope and scale of it are so much smaller than anything else in the series that it works for what it is, including the need to map out dungeons and the such. But 2 finds itself in an awkward spot between this 1 and 3 mechanically.
When I heard the original Dragon Quest theme at the end, I actually cried. These 3 games are a few of my all-time favorites. I'm hoping Monster Medal collection will be back. Easily my favorite feature in DQ/DW 3 GBC version.
Finally, I've been waiting for news on this game ever since it was announced. I absolutely love the HD-2D style. Also, R.I.P. to the great Akira Toriyama who brought the Dragon Quest series to life with his art. He'll always be a legend.
Tears in my eyes haha, it's a dream come true. The character personality tests at the start is still one of the most unique and memorable character creation methods I've ever used. You learn something about your out-of--game self, which is now reflected in-game.
As someone who’s never played these games, this was easily the one that grabbed my attention. The blend between the pixels and the rest of the world is astounding .
I‘m glad that Dragon Quest I-III are getting the HD-2D treatment. I‘m definitely going to pick them all up, especially in loving memory of the late great Akira Toriyama.
They censored the heck out of this remake changed the female characters clothes, removed the original crosses replaced them with pitchforks, DEGENDERED the MC CHARACTER, ECT.
It brings a tear to my eye to see how far Dragon Quest in the west has come. It has grown. Mainly thanks to Dragon Quest 11 and hero being in smash. Back then, only a few would know it by name, and fewer would have experienced it. But now its growing, and it will continue to grow.
_Frig me!_ this goes beyond executive meddling. It's really starting to feel like destiny itself is keeping my favorite RPG franchise from flourishing in the west! If the next Monsters game that comes out goes back to being Japan exclusive, I'm gonna have to take a life!
I want to become a Dragon Quest fan now! I've always had respect for this series and its simplistic gameplay. Having the original trilogy is a perfect way to introduce new players.
OMG, I never imagined that any video game would ever be remade in 2D, but this looks totally sweet! I’d also really love to get this game and the HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest I and II! I also really want Dragon Quest IX to get a remake and Dragon Quest X to be released here in America someday! I do wish that more of the Dragon Quest games let us choose the hero’s gender, though! FINALLY! So ready to play this legendary tale. Thank you Team Asano and Nintendo.
P.S. - Hope to see IV-IX on modern consoles!!!
Is he the first? Like marth?
What about X?
@jeremyparodi5069 X is already extremely easy to get playing in the west that it doesnt matter if they make a localized version and to be honest I’m perfectly fine with the western masses never getting their hands on the game because I do not want the World of Warcraft mentality anywhere near DQX.
@SpikeTheWolf Technically no if you consider Dragon Quest XI to take place before Dragon Quest III.
@@SpikeTheWolf Erdrick/Roto? In this specific trilogy, yes. Beyond the trilogy however, DQXI will answer that question lol
I don’t care what other people say. I will forever welcome the pixelated, retro aesthetic in the modern era. Even to the old 3D style of done right. I might pick this up. Switch having some fire games 🔥🔥
You might like the chibi 3D style of DQ11 3Ds. It actually stayed truer to Toriyama’s style.
I prefer 2d to 3d
The original trailer looked better this looks like a lazy cash grab. Also it’s censored smh. No buy.
I genuinely wish all the best classic 2D games got this treatment, DQ, FF, Pokemon, etc.
It amazes me how each HD2D game looks that much better than the previous one.
I hope every entry gets a remake of some sort
This is cool but no, we need dragon quest 12…. 11 was amazing
I think 9 and 10 are the only games not to have a remake of any sort as of now
@@shanemiller1182I would like a new port of 7 and 8 that isn't stuck on the 3ds. I can see 9 getting a remake with new online features but probably not until later. 10 is the MMO but it hasn't even made it overseas yet.
4, 5, 6, and 7 need this the most since those games can't be bought anymore unless you're on mobile (and 7 is only mobile in Japan so it can't be bought anywhere outside of it). 8 could get a modern port with HD visuals. 9 also needs a remake but idk if i want it to be HD-2D.
4, 5, and 6 need this treatment. 7 and 8 should just have their 3DS versions cleaned up and HD-ified. The 3DS versions of 7 and 8 are perfectly good, they just need a facelift for modern consoles.
I wasn't even thinking this would finally get announced, but I'm so happy!
That artstyle... so diferent. The world miss you master, thanks for everything, may your soul rest in peace
I can't wait to play this on steam deck. Square is really keeping portable gaming industry alive for me with these HD-2D games, the perfect blend of nostalgic sprite work and beautiful scenery
@@jojodelacroixYeah. Not to mentioned other playable characters; aside from Hero, are poorly unbalanced and the difficulty in DQ2 is very obnoxious.

Dragon Warrior 3 on the Gameboy Color was my absolute favorite game growing up. I can't wait to play this beautiful-looking version.
I can't wait. Loved playing it back on GBC.
When I heard the original Dragon Quest theme at the end, I actually cried. These 3 games are a few of my all-time favorites. I'm hoping Monster Medal collection will be back. Easily my favorite feature in DQ/DW 3 GBC version.
Oh SNAPS!!! DQ1 and DQ2 in HD-2D is an absolute MUST Buy!
Can we all admit that Naoki Ikushima's (artist for Octopath Traveler) drawing of Dragon Quest 3 just goes hard? 🔥
Hopefully, for their next remake, they do DQ9!
R.i.p Toriyama
The evolution of this concept (HD-2D) is unbelievable. From Octopath in 2018 to this, you can tell how much potential this concept still have.
What a blessed moment for Dragon Quest fans.
LETS GOOOOOO!!!! AND THE WHOLE TRILOGY TOO!
They really need to remake the first 6 final fantasy games like this.
RIP Tori-sensei and Sugi-sensei.
Bro dont make me cry
Man... I hate crying at work...
Those first notes started at the end for the song change to show 1&2 and I had tears instantly.
This was my favorite announcement of the direct
FINALLY, next do DQ9 please
I'am so f'ng ready!!!
This launches one day after my birthday. As a Dragon Quest fan this makes me very happy.
Finally, I've been waiting for news on this game ever since it was announced. I absolutely love the HD-2D style.
Also, R.I.P. to the great Akira Toriyama who brought the Dragon Quest series to life with his art. He'll always be a legend.
1:51 gave me chills, such an amazing reveal
It'll also be on other platforms! Including PC (Steam)
Man hearing those initial horns puts the biggest smile on my face
I hope they make a pack with all three games
Tears in my eyes haha, it's a dream come true. The character personality tests at the start is still one of the most unique and memorable character creation methods I've ever used. You learn something about your out-of--game self, which is now reflected in-game.
WE HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE BACK
1:30 the most satisfying moment…..
I hope there is a new wish to resurrect Toriyama Akira after beating the post-game boss of DQ3 :(
I've never really been that interested in the dragon quest franchise, but this honestly looks like something I'd like to play.
RIP SUGIYAMA AND TORIYAMA
2:02 i NEED this as a wallpaper ASAP 😭
So excited! 🎉
As someone who’s never played these games, this was easily the one that grabbed my attention. The blend between the pixels and the rest of the world is astounding .
Love your creativity, it's inspiring!
I‘m glad that Dragon Quest I-III are getting the HD-2D treatment. I‘m definitely going to pick them all up, especially in loving memory of the late great Akira Toriyama.
🙋🏼♀️ Same here….💯☝🏼❤️😉
OMG, they're remaking the whole trilogy.😍
This looks so amazingly gorgeous. The 8 bit and 16 bit Final Fantasies deserved this graphical treatment.
They got sweet baby inc working on this remake. The same people who bash and hate Akira Toriyama. DONT SUPPORT THEM!!
_Frig me!_ this goes beyond executive meddling. It's really starting to feel like destiny itself is keeping my favorite RPG franchise from flourishing in the west!
If the next Monsters game that comes out goes back to being Japan exclusive, I'm gonna have to take a life!
What? Sweet Baby is literally not involved at all. Artdink is the one making the game. Stop spreading lies.
@@Misa_Susaki Do your research properly
@@Zargex Uh, I have. Show me the evidence that SBI worked on this game. You won't be able to find any, because they didn't.
@@Misa_Susaki If you are that dumb to not even search ”Dragon quest sweet baby inc” on google, i have no means to talk with you.
I want to become a Dragon Quest fan now! I've always had respect for this series and its simplistic gameplay. Having the original trilogy is a perfect way to introduce new players.
My body is READY!
one of toriyamas last works as an artist. i wish he was here see this now
INSTANT DAY ONE ❤
Yes! The entire Erdrick Trilogy 2D-HD Remake is coming out on multiplatforms.
R.I.P. Toriyama & Sugiyama.
Everyone needs to buy this. Buy 2 copies. We need it to sell well, so we can get 4, 5, and 6 on Switch (2).
RIP Akira Toriyama!!!!
I love the Dragon Quest games so much!!!
Can we get a Lunar 1&2 remake please!?
Effing SBI DETECTED.
Does Squeenix hate money, or their CEO just addicted to DEI?
Dragon Quest is one of my favorite series and I've played the games over and over. I am happy to see these being remade and they look gorgeous ❤
Yes 🙏🐉
That artwork, it's just not the same without Toriyama's cartoony style.
Was going to buy it, and will now tell other to not, square is no longer a Japanese company but now Japanese-Californian.
Definitely this is the perfect game to finally get into this franchise.
What Pokémon should have been.
OMG, I never imagined that any video game would ever be remade in 2D, but this looks totally sweet! I really like the Dragon Quest series, but I’ve only ever played Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies, which I love very much! I really want to start playing other Dragon Quest games, and I’m thinking of getting the 3DS remakes of Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past and Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King! I’d also really love to get this game and the HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest I and II! I also really want Dragon Quest IX to get a remake and Dragon Quest X to be released here in America someday! I do wish that more of the Dragon Quest games let us choose the hero’s gender, though! I do know that you can have the hero from Dragon Quest III be female, and I really hope that that’ll stay in the HD-2D remake! I just can’t wait for it to be released! Yay! 🐉🐲🗡️⚔️🛡️👸🏻🧚🏻♀️🧜🏻♀️🧞♀️🩷💝💖💗💕🌹💐🌷🌸🌺🎀🩰🐱🦄🍰🧁🍩
So that’s what took so long. It’s. A trilogy.
Nope. DQ3 is releasing this November. DQ1 and DQ2 are a separate package releasing sometime next year.
@@Jenema2 they probably were working on both for a year back to back after the first footage for 3 and probably decided to do the other 2 later on after some positive reception. there are some locations that do return in each game so they are all linked not just narratively but software, tech etc
This is the trilogy that got me into RPGs and seeing them now in these remakes brings a tear to my eye, toriyama and Sugiyama would be so proud of this work. I'm so excited to relive these adventures again
Hope it comes to PlayStation this year.
It is

Playstation? The overpriced disappointment of Sony?
Yeah sure whatever floats your boat.
This game was as much a part of my childhood as Pokémon, Zelda, Final Fantasy, and Mario.
I have a lot of fond memories of this game, and the conversations with friends at lunch chatting about it... I've got expectations here, I hope this game lives up to my nostalgia. ❤
The Creator of Dragon Quest being Censored by Square-Enix by scrubbing the Interview of the Creator Yuji Horii & Kazu Teshima being displeased of the Censorship. I will pass on this game because of the Disrespect Square-Enix and the Group Censoring his vision.
All 3 first Dragon Quest games getting an HD remake! Hyyyyypee!!!!
