I've had this Duro about 6 years, first one was similar age but got dropped on tile floor and shattered :(... on 3rd battery, worn daily in hospital setting, been diving, regular swimming, off-road motorcycling often and everything in between..un-beatable..!

One good thing about sheltering in place...Plenty of time to try my hand at Modding watches...I’ve given it a go Several times with mixed results. This video inspired me to purchase a blue duro And the following parts: Seiko monster style hands, Blue planet ocean style ceramic bezel insert, Strapcode bracelet(Angus jubilee). So I’ve spent a total of $145 on parts For a $52 watch. Already spending that check that I haven’t received yet!
I picked up a Gold one on Amazon for $40 USD. I don't dive, so I replaced the Rubber strap with a "Bond" type NATO strap, and cut off the extra NATO loop.

My current collection is a bright yellow Vostok Kommenderski as a casual wearer and a Bertucci A-3P for a beater and it does take a beating as I am a mechanic on city buses, it's been soaked in old motoroil and drenched in antifreeze and keeps on ticking. Speaking of christmas, my present was a Seiko SNK805 and I love it. That ghosting looks great.

I would mod the glass and bezel when it eventually gets beat/scratched up. Despite the comfortable band, i would replace it with nato strap or long island bracelet depending how you wanna dress it.

Lawrence Fleischer I just had to use a flathead screwdriver to bend the spring bars a bit more to get them in the lug holes. Haven’t tried curved spring bars yet so I dont know if those work or not.

When I got my bezel insert it looks slightly too big for it, like it doesn’t fit as flush as the old insert did, would that be fixed slightly if I just placed it there with some of the double sided tape?
I coat my 1095 steel knives with mustard for 20 mins., then soak in warm vinegar for 30 mins.to get a forced patina. It works great and gives an anticorrosive coating. Might this process work instead of bleach?
I work in the water/wastewater treatment industry and utilize sodium hypochlorite (bleach) a LOT. It’s a pro at breaking down rubber o-rings. Leaving the watch in stagnant bleach for hours had to have compromised your seals. When you tear down your watch and get black residue on your hands from removing the o-rings, that was the bleach that ate at them. I don’t recommend dousing your watch in bleach. Maybe just the bezel insert instead. Unless it’s aluminum or brass. Which will also be eaten away. Otherwise, I do like the watches, especially the green bezel. Just wish Casio used a green seconds hand
How much time the battery last ? I ordered a Casio Duro for me after I saw many videos with this watch.If had saphire cristal it was a good thing but the watch has mineral cristal.
Frederic Cantin The tape from the old bezel was still in place and tacky so I just used that. In the past Ive used very thin double sided tape you could find at a craft store.
I would not sacrifice the spot-on hitting of the indices that the stock second hand provides. That’s one of the main draws of this watch. I have another watch with the Miyota 2115 and it’s not the movement that dictates how well it hits the seconds indices, it’s the manufacturing and design of the dial.

Crap just for the shortened stem-tube threading, it will wear out the crown threading and fail in time, plus it's not going to seal because it can't compress against the crown's own seal.
Domes sapphire with blue AR is available from Crystal Times. It takes about 30 minutes to do. Lume? Thats a tough one. I do love the domed sapphire in mine though.
The seconds hand is off by a hair. The seconds hand on my factory during hits the hash marks perfectly. Although my date doesn’t flip until 12:10am. I found a ceramic omega 45.5 on aliexpress, will that fit?
Not sure. I think ceramic is a bit thicker, but I don’t know if that would matter. If its cheap it may be worth a try but I have no experience with it.

Real divers don't use these watches or any dive watch. Dive computer is where it's at. You can use this for scuba diving or just the pool or whatever. Pretty crap/ worthless as.a real dive watch. Great daily tool watch.😁

You can use Hydrogen peroxide, and sun light. I'm not familiar with what metals that may, or may not damage, but I know it's fine with some metal. I used to have this home tanning light, which I used to beach wood with. Damn thing was spookie on how well it hydrogen peroxide would turn wood white. Any who, hydrogen peroxide is not toxic, and well the ultra violet you can't buy easily any more. If your handy, and clever, you can find a ultraviolet light, and you can experiment.

Solar? NO! Automatik? NO! Too bad, Casio built a tough and water-proof to 200 meter watch, that can take a beating and would live a long time, were it not for its dependance on a battery supply. They missed out on making it solar, then it would have been an ideal TEOTWAWKI watch!
By far the nicest mod for the Casio Duro that I have seen was with a new sapphire crystal, it completely changed the appearance of the watch.

I think Strapcode lists it as Endmill for the SKX007. I had to bend the spring bars to get it to fit.

The indices on your Seiko are also pressed as on the Casio, I believe. :)
No. No they are not.. if you bought one like that its fake. Seiko does not press their dials.

I don’t think its possible. Likely the date will not match up and the hands will most likely not fit onto a 2824.

Harleyglide03 I bent the spring bars and used 23mm instead of the 22mm. It is a pain to do but once you get them in its worth it.

Casio Duro is God tier watch. Get a black one, a Pepsi and you are good for any wardrobe.

I just fit a tiny screwdriver between the insert and the bezel and gently pulled it up.

I used the one for the SKX007. You cant use the springbars that come with the bracelet and you must curve the springbars to get it to fit.

Heard the crystals don't test down too 20 atm though. Plus when replacing crystal make sure u replace with a new crystal gasket and have water tested.
