  • @kingquartz26

    I’ve been saying this for years… Casio needs to make a scaled down Duro. Let’s call it the Duro 2. 40 mm in diameter, 47 to 48 mm lug to lug and upgrade the the movement to a tough solar. I’d probably pay over $100 for that. And I think they’d sell like crazy.

    • @Muhilica

      I second that. With this size it's simply not wearable for me. Bud 40mm would be nice.

    • @PaKePo
      @PaKePo 2 года назад +2

      *YES.*
      I don't really need solar as the battery lasts long enough, but it has to have an end of life indicator. It has to be thinner and the blue one has to have a darker shade of blue in the dial.
      That's what I'd like .

    • @nickyalousakis3851

      @hermeshein-yahav7247 2 года назад +4

      I agree. let's make a petition for CASIO to manufacture the SUPER DURO, which will a microbrand of CASIO, like when SEAT company noticed that the SEAT LEON CUPRA car is selled like crazy, they launched the CUPRA as a seperata microbrand of SEAT... CASIO should take the duro to next level, with ceramic bezel, super titanium bracelet, 500m water resistant, original clasp with the sword fish logo, hydro mode (like SINN watches), sapphire crystal glass, day date, perpetual calender, solar powered quartz. If CASIO do so, they will sell SUPER DUROs like crazy.

      @@hermeshein-yahav7247 LOL.. that would bring a $79 watch to over $500... i'd be happy with just a sapphire glass and bigger date display, which could be done inexpensively. duro is famous for it's price point s quality.

    A long time ago a fixed bezel would not have bothered me as I would never use it. Now I use the bezel quite often for timing really important stuff like how long a tea bag has been stewing in a mug of hot water or how long an irritating person has used up my time on a conference call and added less than zero value to a project. I must say though the hand misalignment is way off for a Casio example in my experience. Usually these are nigh on bang on the markers, well from my experience anyway. Let's hope the alignment on your example is not a signal for a future trend. Keep up the great work Ben!

      Yes, since I started wearing divers I've been surprised how often I use the bezel. It's actually handy, unlike tachymeter bezel. Also, even in my non-life-and-death situations I'm glad it's unidirectional.

    • @vonkruel

    I have both watches and I had most of the same thoughts. I'm one of those that won't use the rotating bezel, so that was ok with that. But I would have preferred the water resistance features that the Duro offer. I swapped out the band for a mesh band very similar that they used for the A700, only not signed. But I have a wrist that they both fit well. The only thing I would have liked is adding a boarder around the hour hand as they did on the minute. Same color or even black would make it easier to read. My biggest issue is which one do I wear. :)

    Basically make this watch but with the style and functionality of a Duro in a 40mm case. Casio would have a home run and I'd buy one in a heartbeat. I had a Duro and sold it because the case size was just too big for what it was. The small hour markers bugged me allot. I have the Casio Edifice EFM-100D-1A4V which I really like. It basically has all the features of the Duro but with a very comfortable metal band, it has a larger date display with an added day display and is a more properly scalled watch in terms of its face design. Plus it's a more original design instead of being yet another Rolex knock off. I got lucky and bought mine as new old stock for next to nothing with a dead battery. It's hands down a better watch then the Duro. It wasn't as popular because not every RUclipsr in existence pushed as being the best budget diver out there. Meanwhile it sold new for $70 lol.

    Personal opinion: I think the Duro would still be the better choice since its "cleaner" / better locking and cheaper.
    What they would have needed to do to make this MTP-S110 absolut banger (again, personal preference):
    1. Remove the additional "case bubble" on the left side
    2. Consistent grooving / jimpimg on the bezel or non at all
    3. better looking bezel insert...this one looks really cheap for some reason
    The rest of the watch i pretty much do like. Dial, hands, solar, thats all nicely done :).

    I hate those "fake" diver's watches. If I buy a diver's watch, I want it to be 200m water resistant and have a rotation bezel, even if I never dive with the watch. This watch is not a Duro killer. The only good thing about this watch is that solar powered movement.

  • @TCL_Dasler
    @TCL_Dasler 3 года назад +1

    Answer imo is No. It's not a diver if it's 100m . Plus, I'm biased as a Duro is my daily driver, and it's a bit more fancy looking. The Duro wins on simplicity and dive specs

    Gah this watch has me conflicted! At first I thought it was really handsome & thoguht "man, if I had bigger wrists, I'd probably get this!". But with the non rotating bezel and push pull crown, I think I'm out! Just like you said, it;s a bit of a missed opportunity. And I need something to fiddle with. ;)

    Do you know if the solar cell in this is the same as in the titanium Lineage model you reviewed some time ago ? If so, will it charge with ANY light source, like a Citizen, or only in sunlight ?

    I have the gold bezel version as pictured and the seconds hand is spot on, got to have a rotating bezel. I have the Armjtron Atlas multifunction and it's bezel is fixed as well, it does give it a cheap feel even though I will never use it as intended.

    Damn, I have been hunting for a quartz watch that is exactly this for such a long time!! I’m happy that Casio finally made one!! Honestly, I really don’t mind the non-moving crown since I just like its aesthetic and not really gonna use it all that much. This is absolutely great. I wonder if it comes in black and gold like the Casio Duro? That said, thank you for reviewing this! Finally have something to look in watch shops and hunt this down.

    Btw it won't charge to 8 months of battery life in 8 minutes of sunlight. I assume that the 8 minutes of sunlight is enough daily exposure to keep it topped up. However if you let it run out for 8 months in a lightless box, it will take far more than 8 minutes in the sun to recharge it to full.

    I have suggestion to make a short comparing video between, specifically, W-59 with F-91. Yes, they are identical but I noticed on others channel that W-59 has a bit better backlighting, which is ideal for me. As I am planning to buy it for practical means - for daily shift in routines. Since I haven't used watch when phone was present in my everydy life, and now I find that I leave smart phone at home more and more. Eventually I may grab compact flip-phone and nice 23 gram watch with comfortable wrist. Eluminator is too bright for me and need just a better than F-91's. I guess some people have sensetive eyes at night.

    Hi Ben, great review as always, love the look but, yes the compromise is the issue. I have 2 Duros, the original on a Nato and the so call "batman" on a metal bracelet and love them both. That non-movable bezel would bother me along with no screw down crown I thought would make it an easy decision but, the solar battery... has also been fantastic in my Edifice that I have had for 4 years. Who knows maybe one of these in the future. Thanks again.

    I’m new to all this. So it’s probably a silly question I ask. What kind of movement does a Casio Edifice solar watch use? It only states Japan movement on the watch’s dial. Nothing else about the movement in detail on the official website either. Is it a cheap Quartz movement being used here? Or can it be called a solar movement? Is it better than a Quartz? The watch also uses mineral glass. I wish it had sapphire! Costs about 230$! It’s one of those big and bold designs. Thanks.

    MTP look modern compare to duro.dont mind the 10bar water resistant its good enough plus it just push crown.Duro have a classic, minimalist & rugged vibe.20bar on the duro is a plus even though I reckon many people use it as a diver watch but if you sent it to relume it has a potential to be a good diver watch

    Nah I wouldn’t do this over a Duro. The dial looks better with the larger indicators, but the second hand alignment is unacceptable when compared to the Duro. Duro is cheaper and is a way better value for what you get. Nice video!
