I have that watch. Looks great in real life. I agree with you. Any watch under 100 bucks is a beater. Although, this watch is a " weekender " for me. I took it off the rubber band immediately and put it on a NATO strap. This watch is a strap monster. I don't care the the bezel doesn't rotate. It's not a dive watch. The blue dial is beautiful and I get a ton of compliments when I wear it. Like most Casio watches, you get a lot of bang for your buck. And the solar power is a giant plus!
I wonder if this Casio Solar dial/movement would fit into a Casio Duro case. Making this a true Solar Dive Watch with a screw in crown and case back. I would love to see a video on that Mod.
It is a good looking watch, and I'm guessing that the solar powered quartz movement probably keeps better time than an automatic. A screw down crown and rotating bezel would of obviously made this a much more serious piece but let's be honest most people don't dive anyway.
I time lessons, I time repairs, I time food, I time exercise. Anything that is dependant on elapsed time is a practical use for a dive bezel. There is no practical use for a fixed dive bezel. I really don’t like digital timers and beepers, and I like tactile devices. I don’t like fake anything. Fair enough?
This looks like a diver style watch and with the benefit of being solar also with a day/date complication. I would definately buy this if it was around 40mm like an MTD1053D which is what I have and which fits perfectly on my small size wrist. Casio are really producing some great analogue watches lately and at very affordable prices for the quality you are getting. Thanks for this review I will look out for it here in the UK.
I really like the dark blue color but the fake bezel is a turn off....don't add one if it does not work as presented. Hardly anyone actually uses a dive watch for diving. The Duro has 200M and a working bezel.
I started with the Casio calculator watch 37 yrs ago , and currently have 9 in my collection, including a square G-Shock, on all everything is in alignment, almost every seiko I own something is un aligned and considering how the difference in price you would expect it to be the other way around ,,, shame on Seiko ,,, thumbs up Casio ,, QC bang on ,, value for money , reliable, and keep fantastic time ,, cheers Shane uk 🇬🇧
Completely agree, they just have the right things going for them. Just the right size and just the right features. Casio completely dominates watch market in my country.

Translation: "I have a digital tough solar that I bought 15 years ago and it still works if I have done maintenance. What a wonder of Casio watches !!! "
I'm getting the MTPS110-1AV - same watch, but black sunburst face instead of the blue and with red hands instead of yellow. I'm putting an aftermarket polished 316 stainless bracelet on mine. I'm sending my old faithful and very reliable Eco-drive 8700 perpetual calender in for it's very first service (little over due given the watch in 20 years old), and wanted a less complicated movement I can daily while that's out, and then I can switch back and forth between the two watches. I liked the looks, and figure given it's a Casio and well priced, it should prove as solid and reliable as my Citizen.
I just ordered this based on your review. I had a Duro as my beater but I gave to my sister's FIL after he asked me to replace the crystal in a fake Rolex he thought was real. It was pretending to be a Rolex President, the case and bracelet was stainless steel, the fluted bezel and crown was chromed brass. The brass was the biggest clue but the Day-Date only comes in solid gold so even the SS case and bracelet didn't work... and it was quartz
Thanks for the review. I also love how this watch looks. I am interested at that price for a solar watch. The non rotating bezel bugs me. The Duro is cheaper and it has a functioning bezel.
Excellent Video! Was going to pull the trigger on the Duro, but after seeing this video will definitely go for this! Such great value amongst its peers. Here in Canada, the blue face is currently going for approx. $70USD. Incredible value!
Hi Maverick, Can you please confirm that the MTP Solar case size is the exact same as the Duro? I know you've reviewed both on this channel....I believe they're both 42mm? Appreciate the feedback
I am a big Casio fan (I currently have 32), but this misses the mark with its non-rotating bezel. For a little more money, you could buy an Orient Ray II, which has a very similar look.
Finally someone posted a review of this Casio. I got one of these during the black friday sale last year for $75. Great watch. Personally i couldn't care less that the bezel is non-functioning.
To me the casio Duro's lume is pretty good. I wear it during the day, hell, I even leave it on my desk some times, and when I read it at night I can do so without any problem.
Good looking watch, but they should havs made the bezle function. Casio makes some other standard quarts 100meter diver inspired analog watches that I never see anyone review, all with real working bezles terrific Casio quality and really affordable. Great every day "beater" watches. It would be great to see reviews of these other watches too. Happy New Year to you and all your subscribers. Happy New Year to you and all your subscribers.
Thanks for the great review. Its a good looking watch but I'd go with the Casio Duro for $45 with a working bezel and 200 MWR. You are one of my favorite reviewers. Keep up the fantastic work. Cheers! and Happy New Year!
Beautiful watches for the money! To bad about the bezel though. I hate something non-functional, especially on a watch. There’s not enough real estate on a watch to waste on non functioning features!
Would it have been too much to have had a proper bezel. Yes I think it's a great looking watch but a functional bezel would have been a deal breaker. Just would have expected a tiny bit more from Casio
The first thing I noticed was the second hand hitting the 12 position exactly. That's why I hate quartz watches because I always get one where the second hand ticks round missing all the minute markers which drives me nuts .. probably why all my watches are autos. Shame that I hate dive watches 😂
Oh, so damned sad! I think this one looks better than the Duro with the skeletonized hands that you mentioned, and the slightly smaller size. But that fake count up bezel is a letdown. I’m probably with you, it’s great as a durable cheap 3-hander.
Nice watch (apart from the bezel being fixed).bought a casio tough solar ani-digi a couple of years ago.runs great, but I don't really like the styling.only bought it because it was a a cheap solar watch(£22 UK in a sale).
I give the watch at least 4 STARS just for being a Casio, and just for being good looking and simple. Not a lot of BS on the dial to get in the way of the piece's main function. Nobody should care about the bezel. I'd say 99.9% of us will never ever have the watch anywhere near a wet suit or in deep water.
Super rare to see Day+Date on any quartz watch (Seiko, Citizen or Casio). Do you know why Automatics tend to have a Day-Wheel and quartz watches typically don’t? Could care less that bezel doesn’t rotate, and have been waiting for this to drop below $100 since the 5610’s are running at $83. Very timely review thanks and HNY!
I agree, it would be nice to see more quartz watches with the day and date. Casio makes some standard quarts analog watches in there illuminator series, (I don't remember the reference numbers)that all have the day and date complication, and I picked them all up for will under$100. Well worth looking into. Great similar looking watches.
Happy new year to every one,Casio follows the new policy of the major companies....reduce costs and rase the prices, nice looking watch but cheap overall, cheers.
Yeah, agree with most of the comments here. Great looking watch, usual good standard of finish from Casio at the price but that bezel. My MTD 1058, 200m has a working one ok, but so does my 100m rated MTD 1073. I think it's back to the drawing board with this one. Thanks for the video review :-)
You realize the „100m water resist” category has no link with the depth the watch can withstand? It is an ISO description regarding watch water resistance, not an indication how deep You can safely dive. In this instance it means You can safely swim. It is also for snorkeling, sailing and water sports. So if You want to admire colorful fish, turtles and sharks on Maldives with aqualung, choose a different watch.
@@Mr_Paw_revisedWatches usually withstand 2-3 times more pressure than the one they have on their dial, so in real life currency you're looking at at least 200 metre watch here. Definitely suitable for Maldives and beyond.
I’m pretty sure for additional $35, Casio could make it WR200, screw down crown and working bezel. And we would have a fantastic successor to Casio Duro. Too bad. Non-functional bezel is like a dagger pointed into watch enthusiasts heart 💔
2020 being a great year didn't age well, did it... 🤔 In other news - Casio are simply not greedy when it comes to pricing their watches, followed by Citizen. Seiko? Delusional about their pretty much ordinary watches, I'd rather buy Orient instead.

Sorry but for $100 bucks, you can get a nice Seiko, Citizen or Orient automatic watch. Casio made its reputation on reliable cheap digital watches. Once you get to analog, they are out of their realm and price point.

I love solar powered watches, simply because I don't have to compromise the water-resistance by removing the back.
I wonder if this Casio Solar dial/movement would fit into a Casio Duro case. Making this a true Solar Dive Watch with a screw in crown and case back. I would love to see a video on that Mod.
GREAT idea
The main reason for having functional bezel is to time events. Had a bezel on a pilot watch used it all the time to time cooking and driving.
It is a good looking watch, and I'm guessing that the solar powered quartz movement probably keeps better time than an automatic. A screw down crown and rotating bezel would of obviously made this a much more serious piece but let's be honest most people don't dive anyway.
NON-DIVERS: fake bezel? Deal breaker.
ACTUAL DIVER: uses dive computer
Meh! I’ll stick with the $45 Duro with a rotating bezel, screwdown crown, and 200 meter WR. Love, love, love the Duro!
You know I think it was Bill Gates who wears a duro.
@@rickgano75 you're not wrong
Duro is not solar. Still I'd rather replace batteries than not have a functioning dive watch.
I don't like changing batteries even once in 5 years
I hate fake dive bezels, I use mine often to time things. Leave ‘em off or make them functional!

Greetings from across the pond brother! I tend to agree about Seiko's QC issues lately. Hopefully they'll turn it around.

I am a diver, but I use the moveable bezels to time all sorts of things, not just dive time. A rigid bezel is pathetic.
