Ok, so two errors.
First: Lady Deathstrike, Colossus and Psylocke didn't just JOIN in the fight.... It was Morph. They're the one changing into each of those characters.
TWO: As you MAY have noted in my first error note, Morph isn't he/him. HE'S NON-BINARY. IT'S THEY/THEM.
Your breakdowns of these episodes have a severe LACK of correctness in regards to Morph. This should be addressed in your upcoming episode breakdown. Otherwise, I'd feel obligated to comment in everyone of your upcoming video breakdowns that you are VOLUNTARILY making this mistake because you might be against the plight of non-binary people. Kinda like how RUclips and X put a notice on videos with misinformation. I'd hate to feel obligated to do so, so I'm hoping this will be rectified and addressed in the next upcoming breakdown. Thx in advance.

Yup and when the plane blew up in episode one he was ArchAngel; scotts brother and then the blob to take out master mold.

Magneto's speech at the end of the episode was incredible! Honestly, his presence and intensity have been my favorite part of the Premier episodes. He just has this gravitas every time he's on screen. He's always been one of my favorite mutant characters and he's a villain that I can recognize has done horrible things but I still find myself sympathizing with and in a few places kind of agreeing with him, just not with his extremists methods. I'm really loving X-Men 97 so far! 🙌🌟🎆

Too bad Screencrush didn’t mention, that the original voice actor of Magento, David Hemblen passed away in 2020. Years ago I was watching Earth Final conflict and realized that the same voice actor was also the character Johnathan Doors who was resisting the alien Taelon occupation. It’s all connected in some way or another.😊

@@elderrusty541 it's the Adoration and respect he had for Charles Xavier that's keeping him on this path for good because it's clear he doesn't want to be a good guy but he's doing it to honor Charles's memory.
That tear that Magneto shed was one of the best moments in television in terms of "what WILL he/she do?"
I straight thought that he was about to break his promise, but his tear wasn't because he was breaking his promise to Xavier, he was breaking his promise to himself.

Logan ,and morphs friendship will always be my favorite morph knows how to do it just enough to get his best friend out of his funk that was just a really sweet scene.
Actually, that Wolverine and Morph friendship is suppose to be a Wolverine and Nightcrawler friendship. Its always been Logan and Kurt who had that long time friendship. Hopefully it will be shown when Nightcrawler shows up.

"As if I didn't know, as if I didn't ALWAYS know" 😂 it's cool Morph represents trans and gender non-binary now. The 90s made them more crossdresser coded. Made it icky how they killed them off. Hopefully they don't become queer comic relief.
I really liked how Storm losing her powers because of Xcutioner's attack was treated like a cancer diagnosis to bring home the shock and sadness of Storm's situation.😢🥺 Well done writing and animation. Very emotional. Very good. 🥹 This show is bringing the goods, with gusto. My rating, so far 10/10. 😉👍

Her mature voice suits Bal Cooper very well too. Better than I thought it would be for sure!
Jennifer Hale also voiced Jean/Phoenix for the X-Men anime and the games Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 and Marvel vs Capcom 3.

I was a teenager during the original series (and a comic book geek), so I was cautiously optimistic about this. DAMN did they crush it. The team dynamic is phenomenal, and I love that Storm and Cyclops especially shine in battle. I'm so in!
I think one of the byproducts of this show is the now larger MCU fan base will lobby for a live action Gambit introduced to the MCU

I don’t think she’s “scared” per se.
I think she’s just startled by the thunderclap-which itself is startling to her because it’s the first time that’s happened to her. Before, she would have felt that storm approaching miles away and have known every nuance of its pattern.
Yeah that was what I was thinking. It scared her because she didn't know lightning was going to strike where when she had her powers. She probably felt lightning approaching before it even happened.
I think it's the first time a thunderclap snuck up on her.

Episode 2 was a wild ride, very emotional. They also manage to tie in or tease the start of 4 different iconic storylines at once. The Trial of Magneto, Storm losing her powers, the Age of Apocalypse, and Inferno. I'm so excited.
Watched this with my son, and seeing him dance to the intro almost made me cry because that was me being excited about the X-Men when i was a kid. Those first to episodes were 🔥🔥🔥. I hope Marvel does more animated tv shows and movies especially in the style of X-Men 97. Right now DC has the animation on lock.
Psylocke, Deathstrike, and Colossus were just Morph using his powers.

It’s worth noting that Jean’s voice actor has not been the same. She was seemingly replaced by Jennifer Hale in episodes one and 2. But when the other Jean shows up at the end of ep. 2, I believe THAT’S the original voice actor. So it was a huge hint from the start.
Just checked the credits for episode 3 and it's still Jennifer Hale. I think she's a fantastic alternative (looking into it, I didn't realize she already voiced Jean Grey in Wolverine and the X-Men, as well as in at least one video game... To be fair, she has voiced a lot of Marvel characters in various video games).
I still think that the connection between Rogue and Magneto goes back to their time in the Savage Land in the comic where Rogue and Magneto had a short-lived relationship because he could prevent her from absorbing his powers. This was referenced several times in the comic and was the reason that they were married in Age of Apocalypse.
My theory is that the Jean at the door is the real Jean who was kidnapped by Sinister some time ago while the Jean who has just given birth to Nathan is actually the clone.
And the reason she doesn't scan Mags is because she doesn't have telepathy, only telekinesis.
@@charliedulinNope. Jean read Bolivar Trask's mind, using Cerebro while he was in prison. Madelyne has telepathy powers, though, which is who just gave birth to Nathan.
Yep. I also think that the person she felt when she was scanning Trask was the real Jean Grey, who was escaping from Sinister.

In the animated series Magneto's helmet had nothing to do with Xavier's powers, you even showed a clip from when Charles attacked Magneto with his helmet on

Rogue's pink dress is the same one she was wearing in the mall in the first episode of the original series.
Magneto has the BEST speeches. Wolverine may have had the one liners, but Magneto had the dialogue!!
I will always hate the Magento/Rogue relationship, I don't care what run it's from. In Age of Apocalypse, when Magento first met Rogue, she was younger than his own Daughter (who even started treating her like a younger sister) then a time jump happens and Rogue and Magento have a kid together...it's creepy.
Never been pissed off by a ‘skip intro’ button before, but damn, how could you not want to watch that intro and hear that tune? Get your shit together Disney!
This is why we need Shadowcat in this series. It would be cool to see her and Magneto bond.
A few theories:
1: I think the face in the cloud of dust in episode 1 is Professor X warning Jean, even though he does not know she's Madelyne.
2: Not only will we get Sinister, but I think we'll get Apocalypse in later seasons. The ties to Age of Apocalypse with Magneto and Rogue shown in this episode seem to suggest that. Perhaps Gambit becomes one of the Horseman if they go this direction causing the tension between the three to peak.

At 16:26 you say Lady Deathstrike joins the battle, and you mention that Colossus and Psylocke also join in...but weren't those just Morph changing into different characters and using their powers during the fight? That's how I saw it anyways, although I could be wrong.

I always thought that this rogue/ magneto dynamic was strange was never a fan of this pairing whenever they attempted it in the books.

Jean, Scott and Logan have a love triangle. People shouldn’t be surprised that Rogue, Magneto and Gambit have one either.
And let’s not even get into Mystique, Destiny, Sabretooth, etc. (Mystique is a ‘ho).
The only reason people get annoyed at Rogue and Magneto after watching this are the people that got all their X-Men knowledge from the original cartoons and the movies.

@@arc7375Not true. I got annoyed and shocked when I seen and read about Rogue and Magneto in the Age of Apocalypse comics in 1995. I was 9 years old. It hurt because Gambit was my favorite character and I loved his flirting relationship with Rogue. Also hated what happens to Cyclops and Wolverine in AOA. It was an alternate future timeline but still.
X-Men 97 has just blown me away with 2 episodes O_O! Can't wait for the next episode such a crazy well done show.

1st episode was good but man this episode was amazing. I'm super excited for the rest of the season and seasons! I hope it gets really crazy.
Something else I noticed. When Storm was in her room after losing her powers the storm outside felt symbolic to nature lashing out in anger and crying for what happened to her. It was a nice touch.

My favourite couple from the show was Rogue and Gambit. Thus I am not a fan of the love triangle they are creating between those two and Magneto, lol. The pairing of Magneto and Rogue is from an alternate timeline/present. Plus there's already a love triangle between Wolverine, Jean and Scott, I don't think the show needs another. I was also looking forward to seeing the close friendship between Rogue and Storm again, as depicted in the original show. Rogue was always a support to Storm whenever she needed it, and vice versa. It felt weird watching Jean be the one to comfort Storm about the loss of her powers. I could see Rogue telling Storm "I'm here for you sugar. Whatever you need. We're ain't resting till we find a way to get your powers back. I promise."
Looking forward to next episode though and hope Storm isn't without her powers for too long. X-men isn't X-men with out the Mistress of the Elements.

Since this season is probably going to be about Magneto turning over a new leaf and becoming emotionally whole, I really hope he gets to repair his relationship with Pietro and Wanda. If I'm remembering it correctly, they were only in 2 or 3 episodes of the original series.

Another fact surprisingly few people point out: Jean's actress for the show, Jennifer Hale, has actually been voicing her ever since Wolverine & the X-Men in 2008, afterwarss reprising her role in multiple videogames and the English dub of the 2011 X-Men anime.
Uh.... Bro, that was part of the draw. It's all the original cast they could get back, save the one or two that didn't want to be cancelled for voicing a cartoon of a person who's different than themselves.

@screencrush that's what i loved about the X-Men movies so much is that they captured the respect Charles and Eric have for each other. Did you know they were supposed to represent MLK and Malcolm X? I'm sure you can guess which is which lol
The helmet actually didn't gain its ability to block psychics until the live action films introduced it. As we see in the original cartoon, Xavier had no issues working Magneto over with his telepathy while he was wearing the helmet.
Now, can anyone tell me how these people managed to make 45 minutes of cartoons better the the whole phases 4 and 5 ?
Love how Jean gave Wolverine a convertible when he was driving her to the hospital. Similar to how he gave cyclops a convertible ❤

The beauty of the Storm and Jean private conversation is Jean feels like a black mother… I understand how many of our comic commentators are unable to speak on the matter but as a person of color and a black parent myself, I can honestly say, it’s a fearful thing my mother went through. The sentiment expressed is that she doesn’t want her child to be born black. What she described is the inherent racism toward “Mutants”.

Rpgue and Magneto being an item was also a thing in Claremont's X-Men run - it wasn't a concept that originated from the AOA comics.

The thing that always struck me as odd with Magneto ( especially after Sir Mckellen's portrayal ) is how he's buffed up like Schwarzenegger in the animation.
I was under the impression Patrick Mower was the inspiration for Wolverine. Bronson however was continually raised in fan casting debates during a couple of decades of development hell/speculation about an X-Men movie.
When the intro played and it was the same but updated I made noises.
Also loved seeing the FoH guy with the glasses. Like they thought "he's not important but Jarrod will appreciate it" and they were right.
The animation hints more towards anime now. There was so much about the ferris-wheel scene that was anime, the breaking of the bolts, the dust plumes rising from underneath the falling wheel, the motion of the child and the firefighter in the gondola. Its cool to see more action filling out each scene. Im here for the upgrades to the visuals.
I really love the throwbacks to lines used in the original series. It's like my memory suddenly brought it all back! Thanks for the breakdowns, i will be here every week. Not like I'm not ever here for any other breakdown tho 😂
