Same thought I had as soon as I saw the name Bastion. O:ZT is also a 1997 crossover, and includes both Valerie Cooper and Forge in pivotal roles. The upcoming episode Bright Eyes is like a reference to Rogue's pet name for Cable from the original series, and may coincide with his O:ZT storyline of breaking into the X-Mansion, which was seized by the US Government, in order to prevent Bastion from getting Xavier's protocols. The story also ends with Scott and Jean going to Alaska... the same place he met Maddie originally. It also ends with Joseph, the Magneto clone Rogue actually had her first real 616 relationship with. Marrow, who was on a missing poster in Episode one and featured a few times in the background of episode 5 also joins the X-Men. Lots of little connections all over that they can run with.
Why not?! Bastion was the main villain in Operation Zero Tolerance, Messiah Complex, Messiah War, and Second Coming. Let's not forget that Bastion is a fusion between Master Moid and Nimrod. In other words, Bastion is a Prime Sentinel.
Facts. Damn, they’re going hard on this show. To introduce Bastion at this point…when they haven’t even dealt with the FOH completely, not to mention Mr Sinister, and Apocalypse who’s obviously on his way through. To bring in Bastion..? Damn the X-Men are getting hit on all sides.
They did tease Bastion at the Gala. Magneto looks up and you can see the upper half of his head walk across the screen. Not to mention he was also in that scene where all the government heads were sitting around the table discussing plans. 3 cameos so far seems way too high for him not be involved.
4. If you include the Sentinel blasters the FOH got. That along with the line the Xcutioner said about "What you freaks think we wouldn't find a way to evolve too?" Hinting of the Hybrid Sentinel process the FOH may forced to be undergoing very soon. It is horrifying how they show the conversion process in video games and comics. Bastion was teased even with episode one. They also said he will team up with Sinister. He could have been paying FOH the 10,000 per mutant to experiment and collect their DNA for Bastion's upcoming war (which we seen his first plan of in episode 5).
I mean, they never disclosed what happened to the remains of Master Mold after the first episode of "X-Men '97"... and Bastion is what happened when Nimrod and Master Mold's programming were integrated together before being "fused" into a new being by the Siege Perilous in the comics. It would be one hell of an explosive reveal.
as if he wouldn't... my man rarely makes mistakes in this game. I wish they would adapt Planet X and Apocalypse Twins as well, as they are absolutely nailing this storyline. I still think Apocalypse is biding his time, laughing at all these fools on his transtemporal iPad while eating breakfast. Bro has been teased and make no mistake, HE IS COMING.

4:50 days of future present is actually my favourite arc in all of comics simply because it was the first 4-issue arc that I had read. Would love if you did a breakdown on the story! It’s completely overlooked, and Franklin Richards is gaining in popularity!

Zero Tolerance and Bastion were my first XMEN comics! Prime Sentinels were a real menace. Also remember some stuff with Gambit, Beast and Joseph (young Magneto) hanging out in space or something! Didn't even know Bastion was an older character.
What I don't understand is why is Trask teaming up with Master Mold in the premiere of X-Men '97 when in the season 1 finale of the original series he comes to the realization of how he'd made a huge mistake and tried blowing him up.
The show has come so far in regards to maturity this season already. That will be a true test for if we could push it to slight tv-13. I'm holding out hope.

Having it be Bastion instead of Casandra Nova would make so much sense considering how much the Sentinels and/or Sentinel tech has appeared since the first episode of X-Men 97. The FOH is capturing mutants for an unnamed someone for "target practice". That someone is probably who supplied them with thos hand blasters and Sentinel arm. Looking forward toseeing how this first season ends. There's only 3 episodes left and hopefully Season two debuts later this year.

The true next step in human evolution in the marvel universe is actually the eternals. Mutants are just humans who just unlocked their superhuman potential through genetic means. Every human being in the marvel universe has the capability of becoming super human and mutants just happen to do it in a different route. There are other routes of achieving superhuman potential. Science, magic, a combination of the 2, esoteric, luck and chance. Tldr: hyperion is actually the next step in human evolution. Just don't tell magneto that. It'll hurt his feelings. Charles might be contempt with that though.
Before Bastion was Cameron Hodge alluding to the Mutant collars....We never got the full X-Tinction Agenda on the animated series either. I just wish the X-Men Series would do what the original did for its first season is defeat several villain still keeping your entire cast (not supposedly killing them off) to get to the Boss Finale.

Maaan episode 5 just about broke me, this was just so heart breaking. Rogue flip flopping between Remy & Max then she ends up losing both of them…The team is falling apart one by one & now I go into each episode hoping no more losses. On another note, Morph’s mutation allows him to not only copy a persons likeness but also imitate their powers to an extent too right? So like if he ever for some reason morphed into Mystique, then he’d kinda just be nerfing himself right since Mystique’s power set only allows her to imitate a person’s likeness. Or wait, Mystique can even turn into animals while Morph can’t?
Honestly Bastion was awesome. He updated sentinals in such a way that the evolving sentinals that we are still getting really are because of things Bastion did. Totally underrated villian

Bastion was my 1st thought, but with Cable I was also thinking about Apocalypse. Mainly cause my last memory of Rouge and Megneto being together was during the Age Of Apocalypse comics. So I thought the big bad would lead to the age of Apocalypse starting by the end of this season…

Whether he uses Sentinels or the Mutant Liberation Front seems irrelevant unless there's something about the character I'm forgetting. I'll just say Bastion to me seems like a lame reveal, but I'm scared it will be something like that. The only thing that gives me hope that it will be something better and less lame than some aggrieved human was the fact that they did the Goblin Queen in the first couple of episodes.

“Tolerance is extinction” is a fusion of “e is for extinction” and “operation zero tolerance.” Bastion is coming!
Luckily DeMayo already wrote both seasons so there's a good chance we'll get to see this play out. We'll see how season 3 goes.

Bastion was my 1st thought, but with Cable I was also thinking about Apocalypse. Mainly cause my last memory of Rouge and Megneto being together was during the Age Of Apocalypse comics. So I thought the big bad would lead to the age of Apocalypse starting by the end of this season…
I think it can go either way with X-Men 97. We could get some form of Bastion or some form of Cassandra Nova. There is groundwork for both.
This could also explain why everyone uses concussion laser guns. I know the studios were told they can't use normal guns cause it's a kid show but yeah. Also if bastion is coming then things don't look good for my blue homie Kurt.

It 100% adds up. If it isn't Bastion, I couldn't imagine it being anyone else. Stryfe doesn't make sense, Apocalypse doesn't make sense either. Must be Bastion.
Why doesn't Stryfe make sense? Dude is literally just an agent of chaos with zero ideology. He unleashed the Legacy Virus in the comics so he certainly doesn't care about harming mutants despite being one himself.

Why wouldn't he? I don't think Stryfe cares what he uses to cause havoc. I'm not saying it will be Stryfe. But Stryfe has no real discernible agenda other than making people suffer. Whether he uses Sentinels or the Mutant Liberation Front seems irrelevant unless there's something about the character I'm forgetting. I'll just say Bastion to me seems like a lame reveal, but I'm scared it will be something like that. The only thing that gives me hope that it will be something better and less lame than some aggrieved human was the fact that they did the Goblin Queen in the first couple of episodes.

The Zero Tolerance storyline actually took place in 1997, so it's a good theory.
