Welcome to the dark side. Even with a C3 Raiden, I still like to put her on a full EM build from time to time, and it performs better on multi-wave content.
I only every use raiden with full em+the catch as an on field driver with furina/baizhu/yelan and its my most comfortable team by far lol. Em raiden is the truth

If you just build characters you like, soon enough you'll have enough to clear abyss. I've only 36 starred the abyss this year since playing during launch because I couldn't be bothered but I realized that i had many decent characters already and was already able to clear it.

Without knowing what you have on your account it's hard to reallly help in any way. I cleared with Alhaitham 1st half and Raiden/Chevy 2nd half. Any chevy team will do well 2nd half
If you can, definitely go overload instead of geo, the balls have geo resistance (i think only when their shield is up but unsure). I did it with arlecchino chevy fischl xiangling. As long as you clear first half around 8:40ish you should be set (though less if possible bc depending on your teams timing can be tight)
Assuming you don't have Zhongli, since he can singlehandedly delete its shield. So there's 3 phases: a) Shield phase: plunge spam to break shield. Claymores break faster, animation cancel for claymores and sword are easier. When there is a bit left, start your setup ahead of time. b) Small circles phase: this is your main damage window. Avoid the little circles it puts out, but they aren't that much of a threat. c) Pulse phase: shield still down for damage window, but you will need to jump to avoid the pulses otherwise you will eat sh. Watch it charge up for timing, or facetank with heal/shield.
Usually if someone else is on Noblesse, Bennett can hold Instructor. I don't know if EM is as useful in the case of overload team, though. Alternate option is Bennett on Noblesse, Chevreuse on Scroll (partial buff).

People still dont realize you need 1 built carry from each element and there are issues whenever geo focused abyss comes around lol. You dont even need itto, just noelle and some gorou cons
This is not true at all. The nature of element check in Genshin is such that APPLICATION (i.e. gauge units / ICD) is valued, not typed damage from your carry. There are exceptions, e.g. permanent aura bosses like Tulpa or Manifestation, but for the most part we are talking about shields that break best with primary element app. Furthermore, shields can also break with secondary/tertiary methods, so you have all manner of solutions that don't necessarily require your DPS to match element. Contrast with something like Star Rail where element typing is important for your damage dealers because they still need to get through typing resistance regardless of toughness bar.

I started the carry from each element mindset a year and a half ago, long before even theatre came around and it was so worth it. Zachef the tryhard will not tell you this and will instead tryhard on overload and ignore moon (lol)
At C6 yes, but both before and after the difference is marginal. Depends on whether you value Collei's application front load or dendro traveller' comfort and wider circle impact more. Also if pyro touches dendro traveller burst before hydro or Pyro, it will explode. it's easy to avoid (xingqiu does it just by existing) but some people find it annoying to have to adjust for it and prefer collei because of that.
I would say she is better since c2. Collei applies a lot of dendro very fast so maybe not that much better in hb but she is amazing in nilou blooms due to this
Probably Xilonen, the bosses have huge damage resistance with shields up, Xilonen ignores a big chunk of that and also helps break shields faster. Doesn't help the blessing this time is pretty bad for non-Geo teams.
They don't require geo. 12-3 horse can easily be broken by overload, plunge and other blunt attacks (claymore, Klee, etc.). 12-2 gravity mek you just need to know how to plunge spam. Ideally switch to sword or claymore since their plunge animation cancel is faster/easier.

Mostly build issues but yes timing is the key. He does optimal rotations all the time and quickly recognise even a slightest error.

Kinich is pretty good against the consecrated beasts, his attacks auto track the enemies where other dps might miss
