Eureka, this is amazing!!! I've had a lot of problems with my hips and lower back since I started golfing because I was trying to rotate my body.......this is a game changer!!
Here's a secret drill for how to get tour quality weight shift. Stand at address with your weight 50/50, lift your lead leg. Now, all your weight is on the back. That's the move, and that's how long you have to complete 2/3 of the backswing before falling forward. Maximum backswing speed occurs when the hands are hip high on the way up. Most people don't know that. The whole swing occurs in the time it takes to say "Marty bought an egg." "Marty bought" is the entire backswing. I'm pushing 50 and I can comfortably carry a traditional 5 iron 220 this way.
Thank you very much. That was an excellent reminder for me to look back at the way I used to swing and go back to that method to get distance. I did change my swing to a more modern swing and was wondering what happened to my distance thank you again excellent video.
Thank you so much for your comment and for reinforcing what I’m saying in the video. It’s amazing how much modern conventional instruction is restricting golfers potential.
Thanks Vince! I appreciate the editing comment, I’m trying to get better at it. I’m a one man show so learning all the production stuff has been interesting
Tnx very much for your video Tommy Armour in his book how to play your best golf states that the downswing consists of driving the right knee towards the ball
I remember when either golf magazine or some other golf magazine came out with the x-factor (I think Jim Mclean wrote the article but I may be wrong). I tried to use this swing method for several years and had some success but like you said, my back just couldn’t take it. Great video!
Matt, just spent 3 hours at the range. I didn't hit any further than I was previous and I definitely did not bomb my driver. The power you're talking about, not sure where it's coming from. I will keep working on it, but I am just not seeing it. I feel like I am letting my arms lead the swing no matter what I do.
@rowdyrich69 if you’re going to try to learn the entire swing through just RUclips videos start from the very beginning. Start from my earliest videos and work your way through from there. It will take some time I’ve posted over 130 videos.
Mike Austin never turned his hips in the back swing, he swayed. You said it’s not a sway. He even has a video with Mike Dunaway doing a drill against a wall demonstrating the ‘sway’
Not sure who told you he never turned his hips in the back swing, but you’ve been misinformed just look at these points in the link 3:30, 3:51, 4:20, ruclips.net/video/rMLfbWcLbs8/видео.htmlsi=wJxOGNSGGuiH8qCV And it’s not a sway, it’s a tilt and a turn, causing a shift. When we talk about not swaying, we are talking about not letting your upper body and head sway
The Mike Austin method. No better way to advance a golf ball straight, long, consistently and without back problems. As LD champ and MA instructor John Marshall says, it’s hard not to hit it straight and it requires little maintenance (less timing inconsistencies.) PenguinGolf
Excellent video. I think that the Mike Austin method has a lot to teach all golfers. Thank you for passing along that tradition to the rest of us.
Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it
Great video and common sense advice
I appreciate that!
I watch a lot of videos, your swing is awesome. Back to the drawing board.
I appreciate that!

Lyndel, I’m so happy you found my channel and now discovered how to protect your hips and lower back!

Yes. Much more effortless power with this pivot. Plus very consistent ball flight and most importantly far less strain on the body.
@nicholasdemetriades9154 Nicholas, you hit all the finer points! Thank you for the comment
Really enjoyed this video, Matt. Great job on the editing, too.
Cheers!
Thanks Vince! I appreciate the editing comment, I’m trying to get better at it. I’m a one man show so learning all the production stuff has been interesting
Thanks for the explanation. Swing seems to put less stress on the body also.
My pleasure. It really is a very natural swing so it is easy on the body
Tnx very much for your video
Tommy Armour in his book how to play your best golf states that the downswing consists of driving the right knee towards the ball
Yes, Mike Dunaway said something similar

Have you made it all through my course?
Haven’t purchased yet, was trying to work out the pieces myself. Probably will soon.
