I’ve had mine for almost a month and use it daily. Very happy with it - changing cross mode settings right from the radio (i.e. without using a browser) is awesome. I agree the battery is only good for a few hours of real world usage (mostly listening with a few rag chews).
Is cross-mode the same as changing profiles? ... New OS4 Pro user. Tnx
@@robertreedholm3217 You can use profiles to change modes. However that isn’t necessary - i.e. you can change modes via commands without changing the profile. This is how I do it.
P25 works well through the openspot4Pro. In Australia a common TG is 10700. Would like to see how to cross mode D-STAR to DMR.

I'm still waiting for SharkRF to add dual time slot and M17 capability. Nice to see more profiles, better battery life, and improved cross-mode audio in this unit though.
I've had an original OpenSpot (bought from Grapevine ;)) since 2016 and just ordered the OpenSpot 4 Pro from SharkRF, based on this video. The Halloween 2022 sale price knocks off $50.

Got it to work, by using a separate Android phone, initially that's what I have to use First, if I use the computer it's going to think it's getting the hotspot from a PC, so using a separate Android phone is the best way to program your hotspot for your open hot pot, then once you get it programmed initially connected to your Phone, then you can use your phone to do the rest, the Battery lasts only 10 Hours,

I am unclear as to why you need the cross over? If you want d-star why not just use d-star? why cross over from dmr to d-star?
So that you can do all the modes without having to buy all the radios

Do you "need" the pro version? Or will the non-pro cover nearly all "normal" use cases?
I suspect the non-pro version is fine but I've never had one in my hands.

Um, I think your inline ad is a scam. A lot of the software mentioned is only available to "rent" and only purchasable directly from the publisher.
The idea that a 3rd party, with no company name, or website and only a phone number (with zero history) would be selling special versions of software like SolidWorks at 50% off is extremely unlikely.
It's a scam, and/or they are selling pirate software.

Mine doesn't even come close to 20hrs, let alone 30hrs.
@Mark Herman Agree, I just got mine and used it today, listen to a few tg's all day with a few conversations, nothing major. It lasted about 9-10 hours. which to me is good but they should have advertised that as much. Easy enough to plug it in but bad advertising for sure.
No real reason to upgrade to the 4 Pro if you currently have a 3. A bigger battery, faster downloads, and extra profiles aren’t huge selling features, at least to me. Nothing truly new and nothing the 3 can’t do, which includes audio playback online.

There's 3 or 4 things not mentioned that the 4 pro has, like aprs messaging from the dashboard, playing audio through the computer, and such that are big jumps forward and are selling points.
Only has 802.11n max. A No go for me.
How fast do you need voice comms to go?

@@N4BUT I'd be shocked if your 802.11ac router doesn't offer 2.4Ghz. It's still used by many current devices. And 802.11ax is backwards compatible...
