I purchased one of these last week, it arrived a couple days ago. Setup was not to hard. The problem is it consistantly drops the wifi network. Sometimes a few minutes, sometimes 30 or so. I've tried multiple settings including reflashing factory image. I believe its a thermal issue. There's a lot going on in this little package. I'll update as I interface with SharkRF on this issue.
I replaced my older Linksys router with a new Asus. I haven't had anymore disconnection issues since. The OpenSpot 4 Pro is an awesome hotspot. Don't know why my Linksys was causing its wifi to freeze up but overall I like the unit.
My mmdvm Hotspot has stopped connecting to my Wi-Fi networks, and it turns on its own hotspot automatically now which I can connect to. Any ideas on how to fix that? It appears to not see any networks when I do a scan..
@@HamRadio2 yes, the networks are there because I used the normal Wi-Fi on my phone all the time. It just made me wonder why it wouldn't be picking up networks but the AP itself is working and I can connect to that
Na , not into ham radio simulations using the internet, the real deal or just go to my cell phone, cheap, still radio and works well ( just give me your special ID phone number and lets have a QSO) lol
@HamRadio2 not really, P25. DMR, and Yeasu Fusion are All 15 Khz Wide, check out these Radios technical Specs, this is Why only D-Star is Use on the HF Bands,
Incorrect. DMR and USF are 12.5 and use half of that for voice. With DMR you get 2 separate 6.25khz voice channels. With YSF, one is voice and one is data (GPS). YSF also is used on HF. The usage on HF has nothing to do with it being narrowband, either.
No Longer Going to Buy these Hotspots! After A Whole Year My Open spot 4 stopped Work, it just Crashed! The Bridge Com Hotspot is alot better because it's made from a Raspberry Pi 4,
Is Openspot 4 pro a better hotspot than bridgecoms skybridge pro?
You guys forgot to introduce the concept (what it does) and the rationale and benefits for using it (the why). Had to listen carefullly.
Dude we need you to walk us through the TGIF profile config and how to rapidly switch between BM and TGIF connectors
I'll check into that

I really wish for the price, they would add a sim card slot... That would truly make for a complete self-contained system
What do you use as a hotspot when you do POTA??
Why would you need a hotspot for POTA?
Is this just for listening of can you transmit through the phone or an actual HT?
You transmit with an HT through these
You can talk on any mode using the app, you can also listen on any mode
I ordered one tonight, cheaper than buying other Digital radios, thanks for the informative video ! Pete WA1QWV
Can you use a Yaesu digital radio through the Openspot to YSF? Can you use a D-Star radio through the Openspot to D-Star reflectors?
Yes
I wish Sharkrf would make another openspot with an ethernet connection.

If it isn't picking up networks, that is why it has changed to AP mode. I would try another network.

Enjoy that gated community
@@undrhil ??? you sure you are on the correct channel? lol
So this is a digital radio, hot spot only! And not an internet access hot spot. Right?
Correct

If only they had a U.S. seller...
Right
