The best recipe ever. I made these when you first posted them! Easy, fast and overall fantastic recipe! Planning on making them again with my 3yr old grandson. Will tag you on TikTok if we post it! Thanks again for sharing your fantastic recipes.
God damn!! I made these burgers and they were SOOO good!! 😭🫶🏻 I passed it through Panko and fried it and it made it even more yummy. 100/10 would recommend! I have some leftover mixture so I’m going to shape them into sausages and fry it!
Hi thee burger dude I thought I’d let you know I made this recipe yesterday, I’ve always been scared to use TVP but I had half a bag in the cupboard for a really long time that needed to be used and you made this recipe look/sound so good I knew I had to try it. I was raised vegetarian so I have never eaten real meat and I hate the texture/taste of a lot of fake meat replacements. So I didn’t add liquid smoke or worthershire sauce, I added extra nooch and some tomato paste and Vegemite instead. (I’m Australian). They came out really amazing! My bf really loved them too. I doubled your recipe and batch cooked them so I made 13 all together and put some in the freezer and some in the fridge, they’re still really great reheated too. Thank you so much for this recipe! I took photos and shared my mum your video too and she was very impressed as well. Bc I have a disability I find it easiest to do a big batch cook when I have a burst of energy then when I’m having bad days or low/no energy I can just reheat it from the fridge or freezer, so recipes like this are really great for me and help out a lot! Thank you for guiding me on how to use TVP in an easy and fun way! All the best. Xxx
Great recipe!!! I didn't have the mushroom powder so I substituted finely chopped fried mushrooms, I didn't have the gravy master...but I also added a teaspoon of beet powder. As good or better than any store bought soy-style burger.
Looks like a great recipe! I usually do a black bean veggie burger as I’m not crazy about some of the other options out there but this recipe looks easy enough. From reading the comments it sounds like it tastes pretty good too. I’ll definitely give it a try.
Since you mentioned how vegan burgers tend to dry out on a gas/charcoal grill…my tip (and I prefer Impossible) is to grill from frozen. Perfect every time.
@@TheeBurgerDude also if you’re feeling super extra, Sauce Stache did a vegan take of a Guga Foods video. Make a frozen lump of seasoned vegan butter inside the burger. Freeze everything again and then toss on the grill. You will never have a dry vegan burger again.
Hi, I tried those with the Seitan you mention in your book. I used a cast iron skillet to get "that sear crust" and because of the shorter cooking time, they tasted a little bit ...floury? So we steamed them for about 10 minutes and bääm sear crust on point and no floury taste what so ever. If you ever come around to try that, I'd like to hear your opinion :) Best wishes and thank your for your channel :)
Please work on a meatloaf recipe that uses your tofu ground meat recipe which is delish! I will try this recipe as a meatloaf because I have found the lentil loaves to be lacking and I love a meatloaf sandwich! I also prefer making items rather than using purchased fake meat. Love your energy and thank you for your recipes and ideas! 💜
Yay!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You are much appreciated. I'm gonna replace the mayo with yogurt since yogurt provides excellent moisture retention in baking. We'll see how it goes🤞
@@acuaticgalaxy950 It did not come out exactly like the burger dude's because my TVP crumbles were larger than the standard size (I was too lazy to chop them) and it's less oil, but it was absolutely delicious and it held up well. I added a tablespoon of oil as well with the yogurt
@@daichelletaylor cool I was trying to figure if I add tvp to my veggie ground that’s soft in the middle would it beef it up and give me that burger bite and I’ve never had an old school veggie patty
I really enjoy your channel. I'm not a vegan, but I plan to try some of your vegan meal ideas. Maybe if I find enough vegan meals I like, I may give it a shot.
Question for everyone. Looking for a slightly firmer and higher protein version. I was wondering would swapping the flour for vital wheat gluten work for this? I tried it as directed and it did turn out better than any other burger I have tried, but for making the meatballs, they were a bit too easy to break, still.
Wonder how vwg in place of the pain flour would work. Maybe give it more chewiness? Doesn't look like it needs any help structurally though! Nice job ❤
what could be used instead of flax, I must have bought a dud bag of flax because it doesnt bind anything, I've tried it in three recipes. I've ground it up too. any ideas?
I'm not a vegetarian (my wife is), but I like healthier options from time to time. This was a fantastic recipe that checked that burger box for mouth feel and taste. We added some of the McDonald's special sauce from another of your recipes and the combo was great. Best of all, it was quick to make and we have extras in the freezer for lazy night dinners.
When you say old school, do you mean the flavor or the texture? I never did like that gristle grossness in a beef burger. These vegan burgers do look delicious.

Interesting. Same thing for me with the stomach issues, yet my relatives keep buying me this stuff and we go to family dinners at 'burger' restaurants because they've all got these patties now.
Hi I'm a new fan! I may not be vegan, but I respect how they value sapient and sentient life so much that they don't want to hurt animals. These look delicious as always.
I adore an old fashioned veggie burger. Like the old Boca patties where you could just taste the TVP in them. I know it makes me a little weird, but it was what was around when I went plant-based so nostalgia's going to nostalgia.
They look delicious as hell! But, how's the texture? i.e. can they retain their softness or do i have cook the life out of em so they end up like cookies in a bun? p.s. went to a vegan restaurant for the first time and i had to "mash-up" the patty because it was too damn hard!😂
I always enjoy watching these types of videos. Even though I’m no longer vegan for health reasons, I still love seeing that there are people out there who can prove vegan food doesn’t have to be expensive or taste bad.❤
:whine: My husband claims he followed the instructions, but his burgers came out dry and crumbly and broke apart when we cooked them. Not giving up, though.

can I ask how much Tomato Paste and Vegemite you used? I'd love to give that version of the recipe a try.

So glad to hear this since I can't use oil or added fat!
I will be making these! I never thought to use tvp for a burger!!
I'm definitely more of a fan of old school burgers than the newer versions!!!!!
Just saw this and tried it. I love your burger. Will make this recipe from now on. You have a new subscriber. Thanks for posting it.😊

I prefer Dr praeger's all American burger honestly it's non GMO but also gluten free option
That was basically what I was thinking! The mixture itself isn’t as sturdy but I’m sure grilling it frozen wouldn’t be a hassle

How do I cook if I want to make meatballs? Just stovetop? Or stovetop and oven?
And how well do they hold up in marinara?
I'd mix some coconut oil into the burger mix helps it from drying out

How do they freeze? Hoping to meal prep and freeze them between wax paper, like the beyond burgers!
I recommend freezing before cooking for up to a month.

can it be eaten raw
Flour should not be eaten raw. It needs to be cooked or pasteurized otherwise there is a risk of salmonella.
