Home Renovation: A Derelict House Gets A Complete Makeover

- You won’t believe the condition of this old "teardown!" From the original 100-year-old wood floors to the layers of linoleum, tile and peeling wallpaper, this house was a disaster waiting for a courageous buyer and and a talented team to salvage it. Toronto designer Olivia Botrie of Dart Studio shows us the original house with walls collapsing around her, and then reveals the stunning, new, light-filled family home she created for her adventurous clients.

Wow! Wow! More from this designer, please. So talented! Only one quibble, the master suite screams "we ran out of money" so we didn't bother - the bed linens are just... I mean, artwork and a contrasting throw pillow or two would have gone a long way, even if it was just for filming purposes. 8.5/10!

I find it so soothing! My bedroom is very spartanic in comparison to the rest of my flat too. But it's nice and refreshing to have a minimalistic room to wind down and relax in.

The bed wasn't even beautifully made, there's no headboard.

This designer never disappoints; I loved what she did with that last wall. And the light fixtures are fabulous jewellery for the house.

I don't recognize "after": Total recall! Lots of light, airy, amiable colors and furniture shapes, subtle fixtures... Bravo for the efforts!

It is odd that she didn't put anything at all on that slab, but I ahve to say I like that.
Olivia Botrie of Dart Studio is amazing! We live in the Mid-Atlantic region of the US, but what I wouldn't do to have have come and work her magic on the home we're building in the mountains of PA. I love every project I've seen of Olivia's!

Wow love her work & personality. Really love the way the paintings instil a splash of colour in the rooms. Love beautiful sliding doors and the paneling gives them that extra je ne sais quoi . Champagne walls and curtains is still in, in 2021 I see. Love it, so elegant. And so are the curved sofas, gives me that feeling of smooth flow in the room, it's relaxing . 😁😁😁

When I see places like this that haven't been kept up...my heart feels for the previous owners...something happened...they couldn't keep up or they lost heart...or they didn't have the talent but obviously they tried in their own way...I like to think if they could have, they would have. It's nice to see the home beautified.
I’m loving this renovation! Surprisingly, my favorite thing is the linear light fixture over the kitchen sink. This interior designer always gives me a few chuckles!

Love the doors that close off the living/dining room. It's so refreshing to see kitchen cabinetry that is not a fake Shaker, but it doesn't see big enough for a family. @6:15, great wardrobe and drawers. I like most of what I saw, but would have made different choices.

You are one of the best designers for H&H and kudos for slowing down the presentation! Question: Why wouldn't you put that little office nook off or in the living room, and make the dining room in the area where that built in desk is? Doesn't it make more sense to have the dining table in the area closest to the kitchen? That desk area feels a bit like wasted space.
3:34 It seems the desk area is narrow due to the stairs. That might be why they selected the more open area the formal dining table. Also, if they tucked the formal dining table closer to the kitchen, that table would be right next to the table of the banquette which wouldn't make sense.
She is great. I am wondering how they fixed that water damage and where it came from.
