Dredge + Minecraft Legends: don't skip

- Some recent games have gotten their hooks in me. Minecraft Legends (PC, Xbox Series X/S/One, PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch) is an unconventional third person strategy game and Dredge (PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S/One, Switch) is a really fun one that is a bit harder to explain. Let's dive in.

I played Dredge when it released and it was a breath of fresh air. Was super fun and I hope they can add more to the game.
Definitely a game I want to play
I’ve been anticipating Minecraft Legends for a while and have been surprised to not see many people excited for it. I know strategy can be a bit more niche but I thought it looked like a pretty inventive approach to a tactical game and the Minecraft aesthetic looks great for it!
Personally I'm just tired of minecraft.
What marketing has there been?... I think they've been too quiet on it, weirdly. - But I think this is one of those games that will find an audience. I mean, there's the massive IP, and the massive companies behind it, and of course it will be on Game Pass or whatever. - But as someone who likes the main game, I think they're doing well by it by making these different spin-offs that aren't just garbage mobile games or something.
@@Hexeyy ok...
also graphics are so so.
Not surprised at all, people have been longing for those defining AAA exclusive titles since this generation of consoles. I was sold on the "most powerful console" and got it at launch, and a Ps5 too, only on Xbox what I got were games that look as if they're designed for the Gameboy colour.
Dredge was a real surprise for me and it completly pulled me in. Loved the whole lovecraftian experience
I rewatched John Carpenters The Fog last week... Dredge _REALLY_ gives me the creeps.
The Fog RULES
I would say Dredge is a hidden gem, but somehow it seems it's been getting some (a lot of) traction since it released, which is pleasantly surprising. Usually these kind of games become known to a wider audience when they are on a sale 6 months to a year after their release, which is usually a shame. Not this time!
It does. I don't see what Jake is getting at, because I've seen loads of videos pop up with the same kind of angle of "Is this a hidden gem?!", which is so forced and absolutely makes it NOT something that is overlooked. It's getting some of the most attention in its "scene", and people need to make it out to be like this "miracle" of a game, while at the same time other great ones are probably overlooked. - The irony and hypocrisy of gamers...
@@michaelmonstar4276 Don't get me wrong, I still don't think it gets the "mainstream" exposure other games get by just existing, not that I'm expecting that or it's mandatory to, but that's what I'm saying: it gets more than the usual indie traction, which is surprisingly great. More exposure is always good, in my opinion it does no harm as you suggest, it's not sound to assume it "steals" exposure from other overlooked games, I don't think it works that way.
Also, I'm not diminishing in any way what Jake is doing here. People like Jake and videos like this, are exactly the reason that traction was created in the first place. You could argue that Dredge is now already "known" so this video is a bit late, but it's still realtively close to the game's original release (instead of the 1 year late "This game is awesome" video). I'm 100% sure this video is where someone heard of Dredge for the first time, so it's all good.
For me that is still the case lmao. On sale rn and interested
just wanted to talk about some games
When you making your on studio or game.
Just wanted to watch a video about games 🤝
Dredge sounds cool, I love fishing.
having a ton of fun in Minecraft legends.
Been playing through Dredge in much the same way. I love the atmosphere and the feeling of sailing the open sea- brings me the same joy as Wind Waker did.
Love these little short reccomendations. I actually tend to try out most of the games Jake recommends and more often that not, I'm glad I did.
Picking up Dredge this evening. Thanks again for another good talk Jake!
Love the Dredge recognition I’m obsessed but also don’t wanna overplay because I don’t wanna finish too fast lol
I was looking into Legends for my nephew and the pitch for Dredge sold me. I am about 12 hours in and loving it.
Love the video im gonna try drege now i didnt really know what that was. Yeah legends is cool kind of just confused on how to unlock units and resources at first and sometime you just smash you face into camps but its refreshing for sure. Nice and chill. Love the videos bud keep it up!
Good Video Jake! Recently played Dungeons with a friend and just yesterday he recommended Dredge to me. And now you recommend both Legends and Dredge. Sometimes the stars do align 😂
I've been waiting to pick up dredge, it looks so good. I'm glad you covered it, it really deserves more coverage.
Was waiting for this video for Minecraft Legends after the podcast episode. You guys hyped it up so much. Reminds me a little of Battalion Wars or Toy Soldiers. I wish we'd get more third-person command games. That one Commandos sequel was pretty cool too. I've played Minecraft like once but I might give this a go.
You comparing it to toy soldiers makes me wanna get it
Just finished dredge a few minutes ago, that ending tore me apart. Perfect game.
I think your recommendations are enjoyable and fresh
Look, everyone, if Cthulu horrors ever come up in your everyday life, take it from Dredge, brush it off, and get back out there. IT'S. FINE.
Dredge was massively addictive and had tons of fun from beginning to end but the ending was not what I expected and left me wanting for more.
Just finished Dredge! Loved it!
Two for the price of one Jake Baldino? HECK YEAH! These look great, thanks for the heads up dude!
LOVE Minecraft Legends! Highly recommend for anyone especially if you have gamepass ❤
I kept checking to see when you'd talk about Dredge. Perfect timing as I just finished Subnautica for the first time and then this dropped.
Both amazing games.
I was actually on the fence about dredge so your recommendation makes it the next game I'll play
Nothing will scare me more than the first time I stepped on a land mind in MGS3, and when a tree snake dropped down. That being said, Dredge was too spooky for me, since I’m such a panicky Pete. Hahaha
As a huge lovecraft fan, Dredge was an amazing surprise. Not what you’d expect from the subject material but it was so much fun.
Drege looks really cool! Throwing it on my Xbox wishlist. Thanks Jake 🤜🏻
dredge was so good. I was not expecting to like it so much and the ending was great, even multiple ones.
i don’t even review games on steam but i had to leave one for dredge, it’s so good.
That’s awesome
I'm playing Dredge at the moment and it's absolutely brilliant. I enjoy getting home from work and just sitting there catching fish and fleeing from freaky water monsters. Great game.
I loved Dredge so much...as soon as i caught that first deformed fish the mystery had me hooked and the gameplay loop had me hooked before that lol. I blew through it pretty fast and im hoping for some DLC or a sequel soon
Hey Jake! Great Vid!
Glad you're enjoying Dredge, it is awesome! - could not get into Minecraft Legends, didn't click with me.
This will get buried but I love this formula of covering two smaller games in a video to fight the darn algorithm but still giving them the coverage they deserve!!!!
Thanks! Goood to know
Dredge sounds fun. Thanks for the recommendation homie 🤙
Been playing dredge a lot it’s amazing 100% recommend to anyone that likes ominous relaxing creepy intense mindless fun you will not be disappointed
god i'm so fucking glad you talked about dredge. no game has so perfectly toed the line between cozy and spooky for me, which are two moods i'd never put on the same axis before. love it so much for the satisfying fishing and optimization in the day, love how my heartrate goes up when it gets dark and I have to worry about rocks and anglers
Ive been fishing since I was a little kid, it never dawned on me that a lot of people have never been fishing until you said that.
Def gonna check out Dredge but for now just the wishlist. Minecraft Legends def seems like my jam gonna boot it up today
Minecraft Legends actually surprised me. It's actually fun to play, and I'm looking forward to playing more of this in the coming days.
Beautiful game
Playing Minecraft Legends now and just Loving it!!
Been enjoying these two games alot lately! Up there with The Pale Beyond and Hi Fi Rush as my favorites so far this year. Minecraft Legends really surprised me though, such a cool mix of strategy and action (reminds me of C+C Generals, an old game called Sacrifice and a little Mount & Blade). Come to find out the devs made one of my favorite modern rts games with Deserts Of Kharak, no wonder am having a great time on this game haha. Even my 60+ year old dad is loving it, hes not played a strategy game since Dune 2, but enjoying this. Nice video!
I thought I was too old for Minecraft but I feel right at home with Legends so far. Also, that Capcom Tee👏🔥
That description of Minecraft Legends sounds like simplified Starcraft a bit.
And like 3 sentences after I paused to write that, you mention Starcraft.
Dredge was fun to play. Bit grindy if you try catalogue all the fish and upgrades. But overall had a great time with it.
Dredge is amazing game GOTY contender definitely so good glad games like this get attention good job Jake putting people on to this one I tell everyone to play it.
Hi Jake love the videos.
Might get dredge, sounds interesting! Looks perfect for the Steam Deck
Nice reviews - Thanks!
Thanks Jake, very cool.
It's amusing watching Dredge creep through the consciousness of the gaming media over a month or so!
Saw one put it as potential Game of the Year last week!
The "Stray" for 2023?
i hope to see more minecraft legends style games in the future, it reminded me of overlord series but with more rts mechanics
I've been considering Dredge, so thanks Jake, it's a buy now. 👍
DREDGE IS SO GOOD! I was so sad when it was over and have been hopping in sometimes. I hope more games like this come out in the future.
I just watched the trailer for Dredge yesterday night, completely enamored by the art style and gameplay and bam.... here's Jake's video.
I'm in a pretty cool community for Minecraft legends for PvP and PvE. Great people there and growing but we usually are running 3v3 and 4v4 games
I just Purchased Dredge xbox digital deluxe version. Installed it and will get into it later
Never played Minecraft, but I might have to try this.
Dredge! Love it. Such a little oddity.
Dredge is basically ship of fools just without the coop
Dredge was great. I was left wanting more!
I tried out legends and thought it wasn’t for me but I love the look of dredge and I’m definitely gonna check it out
Dredge was excellent! Really satisfying ending, too.
Hey Jake, seeing as you're into indie games with unique identities/vibes to them, have you checked out Lost in Random at all? I think you'd really dig its Tim Burton-ish aesthetic. (Currently playing that one on PS4 and having a blast.)
I beat it on the series x and had a blast as well!
Just so you know, the Piglins enemies you fight in Legends are already in normal Minecraft. They’re basically what the Zombie Pigmen in the Nether have evolved into through updates.
I’ve heard Andy from the KF crew talk about Dredge a lot, I’m definitely interested and could use a smaller game to play until Survivor comes out.
Great video man I’m sold on Dredge
Minecraft legends too wtf my wallet 😢
Love the videos
Dude I've been playing this with me son on steam deck at 60fps and it's a cozy spooky fun little game we love it
nailed it!
After hearing Dredge is a NZ developer I'm definitely gonna pick it up, there ain't a lotta kiwi game makers out there and we gotta support our own, plus the game looks great
Jake, you can talk about any game, even these two which I still don’t think I’ll ever play, and I’ll listen to the whole video every time. Keep killing it, man!
I thoroughly enjoyed Dredge. It checked a lot of boxes for me.
I loved watching Ellajaz play Dredge and get freaked out everytime some wierd stuff happened at night (dude has a fear of sea monsters)
Someone needs to tell Jake what, "two for the price of one" means.. ROFL
We love you for free, Jake!!
Dredge. I'm hooked
Always wanted to have a game that has that perfect storm vibe. Dredge sounds pretty cool and it's getting overwhelmingly positive reviews on steam, i'll buy it and spend my steam deck nights on it. Although i'm not a big fan of it's particular art style i'm sure the gameplay and story will make the purchase more than worth it.
I’m making Margaritas,can I get a grain of salt? 🧂
I havent been able to put down Minecraft legends since it came out. The PvP is really competitive and an absolute blast!!
Dredge , I heard about it but now I am interested to play it on my deck...Deck actually is boon for Indy games!!
Dang, Jake really does love him a "dumpy"
Just bought dredge today. Good fun
I have been loving Dredge!
Decided to try Minecraft Legends on a whim today. I’m really enjoying it. Awesome game pass title.
Dredge has so much potential for DLC content in the future, easily one of my favourite games of the year
SkillUp brought me here, liked and subscribed. Cheers!
woah, thanks!
Yo Jimmy ain't going to have a clue 😂
way ahead of you finished dredge the day it dropped and haven't got to play legends yet due to work but man when that off day comes its on
Games like these want me have a Steam Deck even more. Bummer that its not available where I live
i really like you, Jake.
I really liked legends... was a lot of fun. Short but fun! PVP would keep you coming back if you like that kind of thing. Gonna try out Dredge because of you. I hope they add AI to skirmish mode on legends.
I've been meaning to look up Dredge since Lucy mentioned it a few weeks ago on the FPS podcast. Your take here might just be what pushes me over the edge.
Lucy has a tendency to find some good weird ones
@@JakeBaldino must be in part thanks to that peculiar football lore from her past, lol. But yeah, she definitely does. Love to hear her takes in the podcast.
I've had both on my radar. Skillup was taking about Dredge too. I'm mostly just waiting for a steam sale on Sifu so I can play that one on my steam deck.
Speaking of great games though, did you ever try Death's Door by Acid Nerve? It's a fantastic little Zelda like dungeon crawler I haven't seen hardly anyone talking about.
100% Dredge the first week it came out. I absolutely loved that game and I also recommend it to everyone!
Dredge is a pretty cool game.
Dredge was an absolutely incredible game
Have legends downloaded since gamepass for when I have time but will probably get dredge too considering the praise it's getting.
Ohhh THIS is why we haven't got more Hard space Ship Breaker content lol
Love this
Dredge is surprisingly good
pleasantly surprised by a quaint little boat game
@@JakeBaldino wedging/rotating mutated fish into your RE style block cargo hold is unintentionally hilarious
Dredge is great I can’t wait to buy it for my switch later in the year
my friend has the switch version and he says it has been good
Good to hear
