- Ike with Big Tex Ordnance compares a genuine Modlite PLHv2 18650 weapon light to a fake copy from China. He points out differences in color, font, the diode, internal ring, circuit board, weight, lug dimensions, tail cap length, and mechanics to help identify counterfeits.

What does the light beam pattern look like on the fake? I assume the Chinese can't quite copy Modlite's LED tech yet.
I wonder what the performance difference is. Undoubtedly the fake will not be as durable.
So in summary you need a real one to compare against to see if it’s a fake. 🥴
That Thumbnail is amazing
That’s the reason I clicked.
Thanks Craig!
@@BigTexOrdnance anything for Selenas
China is watching to get pointers on improving their fakes lol
I got a knockoff to compare and do my own diode swapping and it's not near the same. It's fine in general but not comparable to the real deal modlites. I opened it and the led in the knockoff is some kind of cree, so not even the same diode, I assume same with the driver. I have a knockoff dual fuel surefire m640df and both the sf knockoff and modlite knockoff are exactly the same, if not the slightest unrecognizable difference. My modlite head did fit on the knockoff so the threads are the same
how does power/throw output compare?
For the price at maybe half the lms if it doesn't break 🤷♂️
So basically there's really no reason to pay $300 for the real one bc the $60 clone is essentially the same product. Maybe it's just me but I'm not seeing the $240 price difference here.
So Modlite is ripping us off. Like most US companies do
It is a badge of honor to be copied by chyn-ha.
