    The long throw head he was showing is an LEP light, different than an LED. Lower lumens much much more candela. Candela measures light throw distance, lumens measures total light output. Be aware that with the long throw head you do NOT want to shine it into someones eyes as it is a rated laser and can cause eye damage. If you like LEP long throw lights, try the Fenix tk30 or TK30R that max out at 500 lumens, 600,000 candela and can throw a beam almost a mile... just amazing.

    Talon, you should take a look at Convoy flashlights. Insanely cheap, but wonderful quality. Not taking away from the AI at all, obviously an outstanding setup. The convoy flashlights are definitely for banging around and not having to worry about losing or breaking them. The C8+ that comes with the same emitter as the AI2, OSRAM, is $25ish and throws 700m(140k candela), 18650, and fairly pocketable. The S2+ comes in a ton of emitters, the SST-40 is probably the best all arounder high lumen, great throw for the size of flashlight body. 18650, very pocket friendly, just over 4.5in.

    Subbed because I saw you on Zac's channel when you showed this flashlight/torch (as we Aussies call them). I have a Speras spot thrower that has a range of about 1300 metres ( roughly just under a mile) and wanted to see how powerful this thing is. I have a small pivot-head Nicron N7 that is much smaller than the one you're showing but is a great pocket torch. I'm very interested in the one you're showing in that configuration. EDIT: I also have a Coast brand HP7 that I've had for five years or more and it has been through hell. Beaten, bashed, scratched, dropped (in water as well) and it's still rocking and rolling like a champ. The HP7 can be stood on end, and the Nicron has a swivel head and magnetic base.

    That AI White Laser head alone is already $300+
    But AI seems to be a great brand, more durable than Modlite and CD in terms of built quality.
    I'm a fan of candela than lumens. I am carrying a pocket thrower, 5+ inch in length, 20mm head diameter, but throws max 400 meters.

    Looks like a nice light, but absolutely not a EDC period. Is it to expensive I think so, but that can be said of others most notably Surefire. Great job on the video it self and if you want to drag that beast around with you every day more power to you. I carry several but my favorite and largest is Zebralight SC 62 it's 18650 .9" x 3 3/4".

    • @TalonSei
      @TalonSei  2 года назад +2

      They do just like most high powered lights

    • @psykometal
      @psykometal Год назад +1

      Olights are lumen monsters, so they get real hot real fast because they are using a lot of energy to achieve the super high lumens. However candela has nothing to do with energy consumption or lumens, it's about focusing the beam for a tighter hotspot so that the light projects farther; which is why the high candela lights don't typically have crazy high lumens and their heads are typically much wider/longer.
      According to the website the AI-1 head is only 300 lumens, which really isn't very much and why the head is so much larger, so it shouldn't get very hot. However the AI-2 is 700 lumens, considerably higher, and that one will start to heat up after a while, but still nothing on the level of the Olights that are pushing 1000+ lumens. 👍

    200kcd is pretty low for an lep, especially from this size class.. My skylumen compact, which granted is a 21700 claims 430kcd @ 300lm, however my thor2 18350/650 is closer to 800kcd. However I feel like the skylumen is a better comparison due to the slimmer head. These two lights are the same length when the Thor is in 650 config with head diameter being the only real difference.
    The skylumen still has a decent spread when outdoors making it a slightly more practical night carry but it still won’t be lighting your immediate path well… they claim 1200&1800m throw respectively.
    These look like solid hosts tho n I’ll take a look.
