This is just an anecdote but the water flosser was an absolute game changer for me. I used to have really red and swollen gums all the time that didn't go away by just brushing and flossing twice a day. My gums got significantly healthier in just a few days using my water flosser. My gums also feel so much more comfortable and clean and there's no foul smell between my teeth anymore.

Which water flosser do you use? And what setting? I tried a Waterpik but couldn't go higher than level 5 because it felt like too much pressure.

I have 7 implants in my mouth and I get a scale and debridement of each implant as well as gingival irrigation. I'm told many patients think once they get implants, they can do what they want not realizing that they can get boneloss from not plaque build up. After $50,000 worth of work . Of course from insurance. Best to spend the $250 every 6 months.

Just be careful with the water flossers and the pressure at which they pound water onto the teeth at a very close distance. I had a tooth crack as the sustained pressure of the water jet hitting the teeth was actually too strong. Therefore I haven’t used water flossers since but if I were make sure to keep the pressure low.

Water flossing with a little peroxide in warm water is better than just water. Don't put hot water in the flosser, It will start leaking. Along with this, make sure you get enough vitamin C in your diet.

I had gum disease some years ago and have been visiting my hygienist 4 times a year since, because I'm not going back to that. I have an impeachable oral routine. My hygienist recently told me she will not see me for another 6 months because it is not and has not been clinically necessary for a long time and I'm wasting my money. In the UK it is not typical for hygienists to floss your teeth, but she did. I asked why she was doing it because she'd never done it before?....'because I have to do something to fill the time'! 😂 Ps, @teethtalkgirl has been my corner stone in maintaining good oral health with her advice, tios and information.
