The Praetor Mark II Star Destroyer was a creation of the newly turned Empire, after the fall of the Republic. At 8km long, it was often the flagship of Imperial Officers, including one Admiral Giel.
The Resurgent is a highly advanced, though much smaller ship, which first appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as the Finalizer - ship of Kylo Ren.

I give this matchup to Obi-Wan Kenobi and the High Ground 9.5 times out of 10.
The Imperial and Republic versions of the Arquitens-class light cruiser are literally the same. The only noticeable difference was the colour scheme.
The Empire *also* did have a command-cruiser variant though, which had added armour on the engine array, the 4 heavy quad laser batteries replaced with 8 quad laser batteries (presumably lighter, but there's nothing really confirming that), a tractor beam, and the concussion missiles were removed. Personally, I reckon the command cruiser was the superior version, but these differences are so minute I'd say they were pretty much evenly matched anyway. Especially keeping in mind that some Republic light cruisers had a ventral laser cannon, and some didn't.
However, the command-cruiser has been known to carry up to three TIE-Fighters, or Interceptors, or two TIE-Bombers. As opposed to the Republic light-cruiser, which has never demonstrated an ability to dock with Republic fighters.
Without fighter support on either side, maybe 6 times out of ten, the Imperial command cruiser would come out on top.

Honestly, with these match ups i'm expecting to see something like a Upsilon class shuttle vs a TIE VIP shuttle.

As I recall, a standard Imperial TIE wing was 6 squadrons of 12 fighters per squadron, for a total of 72. We can probably assume the First Order used similar numbers, so "two wings" would be 144 fighters.
5:50 Wing is 6 squadrons of 12 I believe, so 72 craft in a wing.
If any of you have played the Thrawns Revenge mod for Empire at War Forces of Corruption you'll know the Praetors are beasts. They take 4 hypervelocity gun shots to take down. I'm not sure if its canon though but in the game they have a very impressive range compared to all other star destroyers. I know I'm a bit biased towards them just because i like them more but i do think they would hold out longer than you give them credit for. Maybe even winning 3.5-4.5 times out of ten rather than just 2.

I completely agree Praetors are the backbone of my fleets because of their durability. Very few ships can take hit after hit like they can. And they pack a very heavy punch foe their limited armament.
Also a wing is usually 72 fighters which would bring the resurgence's total capacity to 144 which is less than the 150 of the praetor. plus there is no signs that the first order uses any tie interceptors.
Praetor II (not Old Republic Praetor I) was basically Imperial technology ship, in my sources Praetor have both stronger armor and shield than even upgraded Imperial II. Imperial I have basically 25% less armor and 10-20% less shields. This ship was very strong, and have around 2x more firepower than Imperial II , and around 3-4 than Imperial I (there is no value for turbolasers on this ship , but medium turbolaser are around a power of half of Imperial II and main of Imperial I or stronger than this, and he had more ion cannons and fighters.
Yeah, what really makes them particularly awesome is their range. They can utterly pound enemy ships before the ship can even gets into reasonable range. I've taken down numerous super star destroyers with these beasts just by abusing that range advantage. I had one battle against the AI where it brought 4 SSDs, about 30 or so ISD2s and various other stuff, and my 3 defensive Praetor's along with various other units just utterly destroyed. Think I lost 1 Praetor during that whole fight. It was an epic slaughter!
All that said, that's the game version. The canon version doesn't sound so good and probably would lose this duel but hey.
Against SSD? Ye, but it was still much more powerfull than ISD I and ISD II. ISD II had more powerfull turbolasers but much less of them ,same for ion cannons.
The resurgent main shield are not by the bridge but on the two sides toward the back. The shield generator that you see on top is just for the bridge, like an extra protection for the bridge. The Resurgence also has a deflector Shield at the very front of the ship. In total it has three different types of Shields and a total of 4 shield generator in all.

miles knopf Nope, the Harrower would be obliterated by the firepower of the Kandosii. Also the Harrower is 800m in lenght and the Kandosii is 1300m in length. The Kandosii can also carry nuclear missiles. I think the Valor-class and the Harrower-class would be more balanced
I believe when you said about the TIE fighter wing on Resurgent class, I believe a TIE fighter wing is 72 Ships.

lets compair the ships, the TIE Defender is faster, more agile, more durable and better armed, the Tri Fighter literaly has nothing going for it.
The only way the droid Tri Fighter stands any chance is if it massively outnumbers the Defender, I think a Defender would easily win against 4 tri fighters, you would need something like 10-1 for the Tri Fighters to stand much of a chance.
if you want a Tri Fighter against a TIE Fighter take the TIE l/n basic Imperial TIE Fighter

Charlie Haywood-Sharp you have to remember though that the Lucrehulk has a ton of fighters and bombers when an isd only has 72 Tie Fighters
The Lucrehulk has many star fighters and the isd hasn't any anti starfighter weapons (only the turbolasers, but they aren't good against fighters)
A wing is 72 starfighters for imperial organization. Rebel and New Republic fighter wings are more variable in size consisting of 36 to 72 fighters.
I have to point out that the shield generator in Empire Strikes Back in Hoth was being powered by the reactor scavenged from a Praetor Battlecruiser.... Given the shield would have been able to hold against the Executor and the other 5 Imperial Star Destroyers, I'm going to say that the shields on the Praetor II might probably be even stronger, given it was an upgraded model.

Pretor-II reactor scavenged by Rebels was able to power shield able to deflect any warship fire including Executor...i doubt if Ressurgent shield would be able to do that.

thanks, i have been looking for this one for a while. In thrawn revenge mods, the selling point of the Praetor 2 for me is the long range of it's weapons and less clunky to move around than the executor class. Given a proper refit, it should easily be able to tackle a Ressurgent class.

A wing of Imperial starfighters is 72 ships, the typical compliment of an Imperial II-class.
Given the size of the Praetor II (which can allow for large scale power generation), I think there is a possibility that those 16 quad 'heavy turbolasers' (I'm assuming it's actually 16 quad turrets, so it's 64 barrels) are more (if not much more) powerful than the 'heavy turbolasers' found on the other smaller Imperial warships built around the same time.

In Legends a single imperial fighter Wing consist out of 72 Fighters. So you would have probably about 144 Fighters on the Resurgent.

3) As well as Killik Troops VS Battle Droids if ether side tried boarding the other.

One thing I would like to point out is this seems to be a unfair match event though the Praetor 2 is bigger it's from legends which uses a much smaller amount weapons for its ships compared to the current cannon with the Praetor having about 100 to 200 turbo lasers to the resurgents 1500
do you ever consider firing arcs when your thinking about forepower? yea somepthing might have x amount of guns. but if only a small percentags can hit a single target. wouldn't that affect things?

Praetor II is 10,000 meters. This comes from checking the old comics and all the designs that are made by fractalsponge and modders in star wars forces corruptions. There is also a guy called Wedge Antilles that does drawings with ships compared in scale. Titan class Battlecruiser is 5,000 meters according to him but that ship is a fan creation.

I think that the most impressive of battles on just a size basis would be the Death Star vs the Star Forge. The battle of a giant weapon against an unlimited armory would be a long and rather consequential duel

You are completely wrong, because you completely ignored the most important things:
1) Shields
2) Hull
3) Range
All 3 favor the Praetor heavily. The Resurgent would get obliterated by the praetor and this is why, just hear me out:
The Praetor has at least if not more than 3 times in lenght of the Imperial 2. And 1.5 times the Resurgent. But since the SW universe is has all 3 dimensions, VOLUME is the determining factor of size not lenght. Considering that, a Praetor is roughly 7 times the volume of an Imperial 2 and around 3 times the Resurgent if not more. And this is more important than you can imagine. If it's 7 times the volume ( open spaces and corridors inside remain the same) then it's also 7 times the mass. Concluding just by pure logic that in order to achieve hyperspace, the Praetor needs to have at least a 7 times more powerful core than an Imperial 2. So then if all power is diverted to shields it has 7 times the shields of an Imperial 2 and 3 times the Resurgent class. Also if a certain weapon needs 10 shots and 2 minutes to completely shred an Imperial 2 to dust, then the SAME weapon needs 70 shots and 14 minutes to take down a Praetor. That's an insane difference!!! Just sheer hull difference! Without even the shielding factor! Now the imperial 2, considered a very powerful ship has less than 4 times the weaponary of a Praetor. Look it up. Where an imperial has a turbo laser, the Praetor has Heavy Quad Turbo lasers. Also It is the only ship equiped with long range ion canons, not even Super Star Destroyers had this. So a Praetor opens fire on a Resurgent, while being out of range. Drains some of the shields if not all while it gets into fireing range. Both open fire at maximum. The Praetor has less weapons granted. But way more powerfull. A turbolaser is certainly just 1/4 of a quad. So 60 Praetor turbolasers is like 240 of Resurgents. But the praetor has 3 times both the shields and hull. If the Praetor in not ambushed, the Resurgent stands no chance in direct open fire. Plus on top of that the Resurgent has exposed critical systems just like the Imperial 2, while the Praetor has none. This is just using simple logic, nothing more.

The math that you're using here does not translate to any other ship in canon or legends at all. You can't argue that size directly translates to power output which directly translates to amount of power that can be dedicated to weapons. There's absolutely no proof in canon for this.

In military aviation, a wing is a unit of command. a wing usually comprises three squadrons, Each squadron will contain around 20 planes.
I get that the shield generators are outside of the ship but since Shield generators generate a shield around all of the ship aren't the shield generators shielded as well

Can you compare two types of ships in an "old vs new" type of showdown rather than an overall fight? For example I'd like to see the main differences between the Imperial II class Destroyer against the Resurgent class, I think it'd be better to compare them in every aspect rather than overall because the Imperial-II would probably go down rather easily. I just want to see what makes the other better in terms of advancements.
A fighter wing is usually made up of four squadrons of 12 fighters. Though that is legends from the x-wing novels. Also that was the size of rebel and new republic wings. I think i remember at least one other group possibly pirates where a wing was only three squadrons.

No seriously, this thing is 2,915.81 meters in length, barely double the length of a standard Imperial-class destroyer, yet its weapon count is closer to what you'd see on a ship in the Star dreadnought classification.

praetor can possibly knock out the shield generator early on and severely weaken the defenses of the resurgent. meaning that the smaller number of turbolasers would still be somewhatneffective against the newer ship

I believe I read somewhere in one of the old "official guides" that a "Wing" of fighters, is 12 squadrons, and each squadron having 12 fighters, so 144 fighters = 1 wing.....I think.

One caviat a battlecruiser is a class of ship that is larger and more well armed then a cruiser but not as well armored as a battleship in fact battlecruiser s were the main battle ship during Ww1 oh as for my suggestion arc 170 versus a z-95 I really wanna see that cannon v legends match up

The X-Wings contained Luke and Wedge, but there was an unidentified Y-wing pilot that no one really talks about. Could you do a video on that pilot?
