I already bought one of these and didn't know how to use it until I watched this video, thanks a million. I have no idea why it didn't come with a wall charger in the first place. I just ordered the wall charger and the buzzer thing.
I dont mean to be offtopic but does anyone know of a tool to log back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost my password. I would love any tricks you can offer me!
Nice review and video. I found it to be very helpful as the menu and instructions are not as straightforward as perhaps they could be. The numbers in the lower right corner are milliamp-hours. So, for example, if you discharge a cell a a constant amperage, say 0.5 amps, when the process has completed, if you multiply the discharge current (0.5 for instance) times the time in minutes / 60 to convert it to hours, the result will be equal to that number in the lower right - mAH, a measure of energy that was stored in the cell. If you now charge that cell, the system monitors the changing current and stores incremental values for mAh as the cell is charging. If it was fully charged before discharge, they you will see that after the charge cycle is completed, the number in the lower right is approximately equal to the discharge mAh. A very useful capability in assessing the health of cells, I think, and definitely in assessing their quality as I've had some 18650's that say 4700 mAh on them bit only test at 268; quite a difference ! :D
+Chad Burke Thanks! I really like it for the price. I use it all day everyday and don't know what I would do without it! I have made tons of connectors and adapters to use it with every battery I have, which is a lot!
axes dnyd Depends entirely on what you set it to. You could charge is at 0.1A and it would take about 10 hours, or you could charge it 5.0A and it would take about 26 minutes. The faster you charge the LiPo, depending on the brand, and quality of it, could hurt it though. I charge mine a 2C by themselves, which on a 1300 is 2.6A, or when charging all three at once (I have a parallel charging board) at 5.0A as it is split into 3 so 1.6A per battery.
axes dnyd Well, it is really all math. If it is a 1300mAh pack, or 1.3A pack, and you charge at 1.3A, it should take 1 hour. Charge it at 2.6A and it will take half an hour (about, depending on how far drained) or charging at .7A should take about 2hours. It is recommened for best battery life and health to always balance charge, and charge at 1C, which on a 1.3A pack, is 1.3A, very simple :)
If your charging a 350mAh battery, at the end of the charge, the bottom right number on the display should be around 350. At least that's how it is on my Hitec X4 charger. That way you can tell if they are lying about the mAh of the battery. But I could be wrong :)
Good review mate! I allways wonder if anybody ever uses the load/save settings thing :) (I have Never...) Ohw.. funny thing: I once wanted to charge a transmitter on 0.5A.. and hmm accidentally set it to 5A :P The charge port on the transmitter actually melted :P
DutchRC ADVENTURES Thanks! So glad you liked it :D I used on save setting but it actually seems harder as t saves the last cell/amp input from the last charge per section like charge balance and so forth. Kind of has a built in save. Ouch, I haven't charged anything at 5A but my one friends hexacopter uses 2 3s 5000mAh batteries so I charged them for him as his was only a 1A charger but was weary to charge them a 5A just because it was the max. I ended up going with 2.5A
The RCAddict Is 5A the max? Ohww of the charger you meen.. Yeah.. It never really is a good plan to use things at their max :) I actually charged a lipo at 10A the other day cause I was in a hurry.. But yeah.. in most cases I charge quite slow...
Hmmm panicking a bit now,all this talk of battery storage etc lol. Should I be using a charger/balancer on my 3.7v (Hubsan x4 type) batteries? How long does it take before you start damaging your batteries by not storing them? Thx Dod.
On a 1S battery, there is no such thing as balancing, as there is only one cell to being with. As for storage, 1S low capacity batteries have very very few Watt hours to being with, so even if they are left dead or full, VERY unlikely anything will happen even if they puff. I still storage every battery I have after i am done using it though. I would say a few days is ok before you really should, although I never let anything go overnight. Also most toy quads LVC is built in early, at like 3.8 or 3.6 volts, so once the load is stopped, it comes back up to around 3.8, so it is already storaged :) I think they did this as people buying the toys ones will not know, and this keeps it safer. Hope this helps :P
Dod Lug No problem man :) If you are looking for one to just check batteries, maybe look at the HobbyKing Cell Meter 6. It is similar to the little square ones, but larger. It has nicer features, with double the voltage settings. Also tells you other things about the cells. Biggest reason I am telling you this one, is it does not beep right away when plugged in (unless cells are lower than your set value), unlike the square ones which get super anooying the check batteries with.
James Towne It depends on how fast you charge your batteries. The general rule is say it is a 1200mAh pack you charge at 1.2A or a 400mAhb pack .4A so the Ominus is 700mAh so .7A which will take about an hour as it is "milliamps per hour" You can charge batteries faster, I usually do .9A for my Ominus but the faster you charge/discharge you shorter the overall life span of the batter will be. It is a really nice charger for the price and I think it would be helpful (and nice) to alot of people ":D
thanks for informative video! Just got my TB6 yesterday and was just trying to charge 2700mah/7.4v lipobut could only plug in the white balance plug. The other blue EC3 fem plug doesn't fit anything they provide. Am I doing something wrong here , or just need to find some wire adapters...help lol ...thanks man !!
If it doesn't have the proper connector you can but some and solder them on, or (not that I recommend it) just alligator clips to connect the main leads.
SO embarrassed to ask such a dumb question? But is there ANY possible way to use this charger and charge more than just ONE battery at a time for my Syma X5C-1? I have 10 batteries and I am already old! I am afraid I may die before I get them all charged up if done one at a time, or maybe even forget WHY I charged all of them:-)
Yep, parallel charging is what you want, but if done improperly it can be quite dangerous. Make sure to look up articles and instructions before doing so.
Could you tell me how you use the alligator clip attachment? I wanted to use them for some Dewalt 18v drill charging but can't find anything on the octopus to attach it to!?

Seriously!!! What fking b.s.!!!! 8 connectors and none of them are the connector that 99% of the batteries actually use? I'd say that's retarded but I'm sure they did it deliberately.
i never understood why the skyrc etc chargers don't come with cables to power the unit itself and cable to charge batteries. it's common sense if you're buying a charger that you'll need these cables even if you have a charger already, you can't use both chargers at the same time with one cable. skyrc companies don't be morons and add the cables for fucks sake. i went with tenergy when i was going to buy skyrc for the one reason that it comes with the cables its supposed to already have.
Hussein CIA Say you want to put the battery into storage charge which is 3.8V and you charged it but did not have time to fly or whatever it is so you put it on storage and it detects if it is above or below the 3.8V and if it is above it will bring it down by drawing power from the battery into the charger making it into heat which is why it is designed like a big heatsink :D Also cells function better when they have been "broken" in so you can either do the cycle function where it will charge then discharge or you could just be wanting to dispose of it and bringing it down to a lower voltage will mean less time in the water or whatever method you are using to discharge. I dont think it will let you go down to 0V. I don't use that feature often but it can be nice to have :)

Typically it's meant to power the charger from a car battery. I am not sure if would mess with a drill battery as they are a little more complex.
Hi. Is the power supply not included in the package? If so, can I use any kind of power supply as long as the DC output is 11-18V??
Thanks
No, you need to buy one separate. There is a suggested one when you put it in your cart, 12V 5Amps for like $9.
I bought mine tonight and a power supply is provided (3/17/19)
Where’s the link to the power supply
I got some old batteries, I haven't really used them but I noticed that they don't last that much. Can I save them.using this charger?
When batteries are old and worn there isn't really anything you can do. They will still work just won't be very strong.
Can you only charge 1 battery at a time with this charger?
Those numbers tell you the amount of MaH the charger is putting into the battery and it definately matters
Yep, this video is 3 years old haha
This is just like my onyx 235 lol it's exactly the same just differ design and a little cheaper I think
Trev Hermsen Yeah, there are many charger "clones" just like the quads. How much was yours?
Why do you have to discharge and how do you? Also what does storage mode do?
Discharge if you want to retire the battery. Storage is for when you don't plan to use it for a few days.
What is the alligator clip plug in for...12 volt battery??? used for field charging???
+Wobble Copter Yeah, such as charging from a car battery. Very common.
