Yeah, as an example for one of the descriptions of a warning or error message for a break down as displayed on the screen it says, and I quote "There happens the malfunction at the charger circuit by any reason." One of many such explanations in the manual. I think the Chinese just see us as a nuisance to be honest! lol
Thank you so much for making this video, I bought the Tenergy TB6B because of the relatively good reviews and low price. I couldn't make heads or tails of the instructions that came with it. Your video cleared it all up for me, and I've been having great success charging my batteries. I'm new to the non plug'n'play RC battery world when it comes to charging, but with your help I feel confident and safe.
Hi Cody, glad the video helped. If you ever have an questions feel free to reach out to our support team at service@tenergy.com or on our live chat on power.tenergy.com anytime between mon-fri 9-5pm pacific time.
thank you so much for this video.. i just got my first rc car ( drift car ) and it came with this charger ( newer version so the text on the front is a little diff but same color scheme etc ) . i didnt know how to use it.. this is the first video that popped up when i typed in the charger in search. thank you again.
Glad it helped out! We know it can seem intimidating at first, but it actually is a very solid & versatile charger if you're into any kind of Hobby runs batteries.
Thank you for making this video. I read through the instructions at least 3 times and still couldn't understand it. I kept not holding down the enter button to move to the next set of screens. Great guide!
Under Program, for some reason Lipo was disabled, very strange, not sure why. May have been a hiccup on the charger, going through the settings several times, turning it on and off resolved the problem. Thank you, works like a charm, awesome charger.
its a universal charger so every battery chemistry is different and needs different settings. Unless yu want to buy single chargers for every battery you have....
I just got last night and its not bad im use to using a hi tech charger i like there inerface better feel like its more user friendly its display shows more charging info but besides that this thing works just as good and gets the job done👍
Are there any detailed videos out there on NiMH charging, especially the automatic charge/discharge setting? There are lots on LiPO but I haven't found any for NiMH.
We would recommend to use the LiPo Balance option. For any LiPO or LiFe battery pack that is for Hobby (RC Cars, Heli, Airsoft) it is recommend they be balance charged. The balance is essentially charging your batteries.
For anyone looking, a replacement LCD power supply rated 120v at 5A works perfectly as an A/C power supply. You can find one on Amazon or eBay for cheap.
I'm reading these comments so many people confused about not being able to find lipo or life. You can't answer that when your the one selling the charger. It's simple this charger does do lipo or life or lion. But will only display one of the three depending which lithium style voltage you have entered into the programming you can very easily switch between the three in the settings. Go to the program mode I believe not sure cause I don't have my charger with me but get into the programming and switch between lithium voltages when you choose 3.7 it's in lipo mode 3.3 life mode 3.6 lion mode. When I get to my charger ill comment again on how you get to this screen.
They both essentially support (charge & balance) the same range & type of batteries. The only differences are the overall looks, the layout of the side ports, and the number of connectors offered. The TB6B offers a few more connectors.
Try it at both rates to see the performance differences of the battery. Many RC folks claim that charging at a faster rate gives more punch. Other than that, it essentially takes longer.
@Joselito - the discharge should follow the same settings process as if you were planning to charge it: 1) Set to Discharge instead of Charge, 2) Set Correct Battery Chemistry, & 3) Set Discharge Rate. If you meant something else, let us know and we'll try to best answer the question.
If you have this exact charger, it should have LiPo. If other options like NiMH, NiCad, & LiFe are available it should be there unless there is a defect with that particular one you have. As for the voltage, you have to select LiPO for it to show 7.4V. You must have it under the NiMH setting if it is showing 7.2V. If the videos are still not helping, I recommend you contact our service team to give you some help. They can do an exchange if it is defective and IF you bought from us.
Yes, you can charge it at 1.6 Ah. Generally, if you would like a safe charge rate, set a charge rate (in amps) that fully charges your battery in 3-5 hours. This 3-5hr timeframe is also a guideline for RC Car battery packs to maximize battery efficiency & runtime. We're assuming you have a mini Airsoft battery pack? So, to charge in 3 hours, it would be..(1600/3 )= about 500mah or 0.5Ah charge rate. This applies for both your LiPO & NiMH battery packs.
Have searched in Google, RUclips, and airsoft forums, nowhere there is any information about the temp option. You state it takes any Hitech connector (I guess is Futaba as well), but the charger says USB temp. Not true about not measuring temp, if the lipo gets hot for any reason, it would be a great safety feature to automatically stop charging at a specific set temperature. I have bought two uni temp gauges, one stays at 75, and the other one at 0. The Temp Sensor USB is a marketing tactic.
Reason why we did not include a video on the Temp Sensor is that very few people actually use this feature. It can be difficult to accurately measure temp readings for LiPO. The temp sensor cable should be universal for these chargers, but I believe the one this takes is a Hitech connector.
I want to charge my Holy Stone LiPo Model SF 8333106 batteries used in the Holy Stone HS700 Quadcopter but there are no connectors that come with the charger that will work for this application. I would welcome any suggestions. For now, this product is useless to me.
I know what you mean , I have the exact same battery from Holy Stone and the ONLY thing it plugs into is the balance board with the connector from the Holy Stone super slow charger. Extremely disappointed so far and like you, for now it is totally useless to me since these are the only batteries I need to charge.
If you have a LiPO battery for RC Cars, you should balance charge it like shown as in our example. Be sure to set the charger for LiPO, 3S (11.1v), & 4.0A Charge Rate (takes ~1 hr in charge time). You can do also do 2.0A charge rate (takes ~2hr to charge) if you'd like.
I believe you that is the model of an RC Heli? It would be easier to give us the battery pack that is used, and we can tell you if it is supported. We do have a Table on the main product description that lists all the battery types (chemistry), and the voltage it supports. See video description for link to product on our website.
hey all, The best ideas that I have saw was on Volt daddy (i did a google) Gotta be the most detailed info on batteries and this kind of stuff that have found.
I don't see the Mh's show up on this display. and it does not show the model number of the charger but everything else looks the same. Is the newer versions automatic for knowing what the MH's are?
Does this not balance the battery in charge mode but only in balance mode? What is the point of the individual wired plug if it isn't used for balacning?
So I know there are lipo battery options, and balance charging is one of those options as is rapid/quick charging. Do you do one or the other and not both? I mean is rapid charge not a balanced charge?
I just bought this charger on Amazon and I’m very happy with it so far, I’ve only used it once to do a balance charge on a LiPo 5200 mAh 3S battery and it worked great! Do I need to do a balance charge every time I charge it or is it ok to do a regular or fast charge too? I couldn’t find anything about that in the manual. Thanks!!
My battery volts are 14.8 4s , when balance charging the volts are going up, will that cause any problems? I have all the right information saved, but I was just wondering.
I found a programming fault you guys need to watch for. When charging a 7.4v lipo, the default charge type comes up as "charge", not as balance. The balance setting can't be saved and recalled through "load settings", it reverts back to "charge". So make sure to change it to balance when you get ready to charge a lipo.
How do you know what ampage to charge the battery at? Is the way you use the ampage different for the different types of batteries? For example, if I had a 1600 mah nimh and a 1600 lipo, would I set the ampage to 1.6 amps like she did in the video?
Have another question I have a battery that came with my gun online and I don't know anything about it. Is there anyway to figure that out? Like mAh and volts?
Cody Steeby Usually specifications will be listed on the PVC of the battery pack. If it is very generic, always best to just confirm with the seller or manufacture of the airsoft gun.
Good video thanks! I have a 7.4v 2200 mah Traxxas battery. Charge rate is 2.2 but max charge is 4.4a- can I use the 4.4? Alse, I'm going to solder a connector on to it. How do I balance it if there's no balance cable? The Traxxas batteries have the balance built in to the charge cable, I'm assuming that won't work here. Thanks for the help
My battery is 9.6V 11.7Ah LiFePo4. What setting should i use please. I keep getting low voltage or high voltage. What setting should i charge it? It is 27 cell battery. What should my mAh and V be on my charger? Please help.
A universal temp sensor only works with Nihm batteries, other battery there is no readings available. Have checked the programming settings this time, and all is good. Its terrible how a company sells, and states the charger has temp feature, where the instructions are very general. Dont get me wrong, its a good charger, I can charge anything with this charger. Have changed some of the plugs and I charge from my R/C receiver/ transmitter, glow plug, to airsoft batteries of all kinds.
Tcells want to charge my Taxas Power cell 8.4V NIMH 30000MAH7 cell Battery T6B charger doees not work like the video no input for voltage does not ask how many cells should it? what will the uto feature do if I can get it to switch to it the voltage that is says is charging is higher than 8.4 like 20.3 it says
In other words it only displays the lithium mode that has been chosen. If that does not solve the issue, please contact us directly at service@tenergy.com and our team can take a closer look at the error.
8 years later, this is still a very useful tutorial. Thank you.
11 years later and still very useful! Same as the “new” hobby fans or imax B6 chargers. Only video I’ve seen that goes over the save settings.
Thank You, Your video is so much easier to follow than reading the directions that come with the charger.
My charger came in the mail yesterday and this video helped more than the poopy instructions that came with the machine! I am not a smart man. Thanks!
I am a smart man, and the instructions were still worthless.
I’m fairly smart and I think it would take a nasa scientist to figure out those instructions
average smart here ...and got my charger yesterday and all I can say is thank God for u Tube!

Thank you I have a little brother who has an rc car and we don't have a father figure to teach us how to so tha k you for this tutorial 😅😅😊😊
Insane charger! Incredible. I just got back into R/C and technology really has evolved. This charger is very good.

This is by far the best tutorial on youtube. Very helpful.
Thank you for making this video it was very informative and made it a lot easier to run through the settings
Very good step by step video.. I'm glad I found this before charging my batteries. Thank you!
Ok so it's around 30 minutes for a 3s. Not too bad. I'm very new at this stuff and this really helped. Thanks and I'll be sure to pick one up
How can charging a battery be so complicated?
its a universal charger so every battery chemistry is different and needs different settings. Unless yu want to buy single chargers for every battery you have....

Subj: Temp Sensor
Could you please post a video how to use the Temp Sensor? Why does it says USB if it is a Futaba (3-pin) connector.
IF I buy one of those temp sensors with Futaba plug, the ones used for the Imax charger and cost like 4 bucks on Ebay, Would those display temperature on the charger screen?
I have heard a software is needed and a special cable to connect to the computer etc, which sounds like too much hassle for such a simple feature.
Thank you for all the quick responses.
What does the numbers on the bottom right mean when it has finished charging? How do I know that it charged the proper Mha?
Does it works the same way for laptops with lipo as well?
I believe it has to have another connection for that, correct?
Ok something's wrong with the charger I just purchased. The "manual" is rather confusing so I followed this video step by step. But when trying to defining LiPo chemistry it just cycles through all the other chemistries and LiPo is option is missing !!!!!!!!
How is this possible???
Anybody - please let me know, thanks.
Is there an indication on the display how many mAh the charger put back into the battery during charge...I am trying to calculate flight time
Hi Flyingdad42. Yes, when the charger is recharging a battery pack, the number on the lower right hand side indicates how much mAh was sent to the battery pack.
Also, there is no program voltage setting for 7.4v. Tenergy charger has 7.2v.
On pre-program settings I do not have Lipo, I have Nihm, Nicad, Lilo, but no Lipo...!? Please help.
will a timer also go off for the nimh batteries or do i need a temp detector
I cannot find the LiFe mode, could you explain how to charge LiFe batteries using this charger?
I see that it goes from 7.4 volts right to 11.1 volts. Can this charger charge a 300 mag lipo that’s 2s with a 7.6v rating?
why does it say reverse polarity for me when I plug my battery in?
Hi Reuel, this usually means the red and black wires from the charger does not match with the battery pack. Please check the connector to make sure it's connected correctly. If that does not solve the issue, please contact us directly at service@tenergy.com and our team can take a closer look at the error.

On the Lipo charging status screen, do you know what the units of the capacity display are? and is it per-cell or whole battery?
How can I discharge my battery with this charger also my battery is a 5200mah 50c 7.4v
Lipo Balance only has the setting to 1600 mAh. My battery is a 2000mAh battery.
What setting do I follow for mAh for such specs?
How does one set this charger to charge a 9volt 500mah LiPo Battery? it only offers 7.4v & 11.1v options in the save menu.
