This is one of the better how-to videos on charging of NiMh and NiCad batteries, most videos dwell on Lipos and nearly skip over other chemistries. My EV-Peak charger came with a barely legible flow chart with Chinglish notes, no real users manual.
It depends on the charger. Some ParkZone chargers, for example, only need the balance plug. Most chargers however need to have both the balance plug and battery leads plugged in.

Hello Horizon Hobby. First, thanks for all your "how to" videos; as one very new to the RC hobby, I really appreciate your help and advice. Second, I watched this 5 times before attempting my first LiPo charge and everything went perfect. Question; On LiPo batteries, how long can I leave one uncharged after use before it requires the storage "charge"? Can I leave the battery for a week or 2? Lastly, when newbies and I are chatting it up at the hobby store, I always cite you as an awesome source. Thx again HH!!!
When are you going to make a miniature alternator that I can install on my baja 5b so it keeps the battery charged like a real car?. Then I will only need to charge the battery in the radio.
Thank u very much for the quick reply. Is it safe to just look at the volt per cell, meaning if they have reached around 4.2v per cell i can stop the charging? Thanks again.
@rafa37523 Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines but for LiFe common cutoff ranges are between 2.1 and 2.4 volts PER CELL. So if you have a 4-cell LiFe pack you'd be looking at an overall cutoff of 8.4-9.6v, roughly.
This was great and very informative. My son and I just entered the world of RC airplane flying! We were sent an FMS 7.4V, XP 1300MAH, 20C Lithium Polymer Battery with our Easy Trainer RTF plane. I watched your video twice and wanted to know if the Passport Ultrapower shown can connect to a 12-volt battery supply? If i am using a 2amp wall charger instead how long will it take to charge my battery fully? Thanks again.
@philip2501 Yes it is Philip, this video is intended to help those just getting started. It was actually inspired from a personal experience at a track where someone had bought a new charger and didn't know anything about it. After spending some time with him the idea for this video came about.
sir, I have a cordless screwdriver. 4 nos of Ni-cad 1.2v 800mah batteries are used. Now the batteries are damaged and I have to replace the battery. If i use 4 nos of 2500mah batteries, what will be the charging ampere for used? Pls give me answer asap.
thanks again. what will happen if the chargers shows that the capacity is exceeded. f.ex my battery is 7600mah, and the charger is showing that it has fed the battery more than 9000mah?
Hi. My imax b6ac won't auto stop charging my lipo battery even if the capacity is reached and/or exceeded. It only stops when the safety timer is reached. What should I do? It's a brand new battery and charger. THANK U.
@rafa37523 for a 6.6 volt Wich is a 2 cell correct? Voltage lvl 3.3v/cell Max charge voltage 3.6v/cell Min. Discharge voltage 2.0v/cell or higher! There ya go mate!
how do you set the nimh millivolt sensitivity? At what setting should it be? i have 8 batteries in my rc controller. each batt is 1.2volt 2200mah. Can you help setting the charger? Tenergy TB6B
800mAh would be .8 amps. A 2/3 A is something that is 2/3 the length of a normal A-sized battery. Generally these are used in 1/18-1/14-scale vehicles.

Good video. There seems to be a lot of bad info out there on charging batteries. This video answered a lot of my questions.

Very good information; great for reference in charging my XXX-SCT. Nice video!
I would contact the manufacturer. I am sorry but I've never used that charger and don't have any ideas regarding the programming.

great presentation and tutorial on chargers, cause im just dumb.

Excellent concise video, thanks
Thank you for the upload... well appreciated info
Excellent video. Very helpful indeed. Thank you.
Very informative, and interesting. Great job, thanks!
this video was very helpful..thanks very much.
3.6-amps will work nicely.

Thanks alot very helpful
I have 2 2600 life batteries in the front of my 30cc ultimate that I can not get to to put them in a battery bag. What do I do about that?
I want to use a life 6.6V in my receiver, but i dont know how much i can discharge it before my car run away. LOW VOLTAGE ?
What is the max voltage to charge a battery for safe

should i plug in charger or battery first? PLEASE HELP
if my charger can only go up to 2A but i have 3200mah lipo dose it mater
Charging at less than 1C is always safe, you need to be careful when going over is all.
Thanks
Plug in the charger first.
Lol

I would not risk it.
You are risking serious harm to yourself and your battery. You should NEVER exceed the capacity of your LiPo!
