  • I show you how to open the Keurig K-slim coffee maker and look inside how a Keruig Coffee maker brews coffee. Where the heater is and the water pump are. How they work to produce a cup of coffee. I explain the add water light, sensor, and how it works. How your add water light comes on. How does your vent valve work and the air pump. How clean are the tubes inside a Keurig Machine.

    Thanks. I slowly opened top and side but only partially ( the hooks towards front and two along the bottom side) and that was enough for me to see and get access to air tubing. Mine was split judt after where it turns back up to the air compressor. So I was able to cut at split and reattach to the bottom of air compressor. I got VERY lucky! I did consider landscape spinkler tubing when I saw the issue. BUT it works now!!! Buying me another year or more before having to buy new machine!

    I've got an issue not covered on this model. The power light does not come on. It will blink for a moment while closing the lever but that's it. Also, if i then press 80z and 12oz, they will light and after 3 seconds or so the descale light will blink for a moment but that's it. No noise, water doesn't get sucked in, nothing. That ribbon cable looks ok as well as the blk/wht wire going to the lid latch. No water leaks, everything looks ok. We've got a bunch of these that are failing with the same symptoms. Almost feels like a sensor was tripped that shuts down power but I can't see anything like that on the board.

    Thanks for the video. I was stuck getting the cover off because I didn't pay attention to the handle.
    A couple of comments: on mine the water heater is different, it looks like one vertical element surrounded by a coil of aluminum tubing. The thermal switch is on the top. Mine needed to be reset.
    Reassembly is easier if you separate the cover into three pieces: the u-shaped front and sides, the top, and the back. They are all held together by tabs. Put the u-shaped part on first, aligning the guides at the front of the U, and the two small hooks on the sides, and snapping the tabs into place and putting in the two bottom screws that were under the rubber plugs. Then put the top in by sliding it into place from back to front. The last half inch will snap into place. Then put the back on, bottom in first while the back is on an angle away from the coffee maker, then straighten it up and snap it into place. Then screw in the other two bottom screws which are attached to the back panel.

    Using my K-slim this morning I had two consecutive k-cups blow out the top of the lid and get grounds inside the top where you put the k-cup in. I started to disassemble but decided to search youtube first before I broke it. I popped out the "funnel" that the k-cup sits inside. Its two piece and I took the bottom cone off so I could poke a paperclip up from below through the needle that punctures the bottom of the k-cup as I thought it was clogged. It wasn't. Now it may be that I had some faulty cups, I didn't inspect the first one prior to putting it into the machine, but the second one I did. Online it said that some cups may be underfilled, or if your cup top domes its got too much air inside. The problem with that theory, the needles puncture the top and bottom prior to starting. Both of these cups were domed down into the cup, so I don't think that was a problem. I guess I need to try a different brand to see if it still does it. A couple weeks ago I had some excessive steam and only got a few ounces in my mug. I just pushed the 10oz buttom and ran it again in the same cup (opened lid and closed it) and it ran fine. a couple cups later it did the same thing, but never since. I've only had it since Christmas, my first Keurig.

    • @JustADad
      @JustADad  2 года назад

      Keurig has changed the way you descale your coffee maker. You have to put the machine in descale mode and follow it all the way through to get the descale light to go out.
      step by step instructions see below. You have to follow them all the way through.
      I hope this helps. put the descale solution in the tank. You have to put the machine in descale mode. First leave the machine plugged in, then turn the power button off. Press and hold the 8oz and 12oz button for 3 seconds till the big k brew button starts flashing. This puts it into descale mode. The only thing you will see is the big k button light on. the power button does not light up. press the k button and it will run 12 oz through the machine. keep pressing the k button till the add water light comes on. don't touch anything just put fresh water in the reservoir and the add water light will go out and the big k button will start flashing again. press the big k button to start the machine again this time it will be rinsing the machine at 12oz each time you press the button. keep pressing the k button till the add water light comes on again. Once you fill it up with water again it will come out of descale mode and now you are ready to use it again. turn it on and the descale light should be out. Let me know how it goes. YOU GOT THIS!!!!

    Great video! Mine is not brewing and I've seemed to isolate it to the needle. I removed the supply line that feeds the hot water to the needle and that seems to be completely blocked. Should either suction or pressure pass freely through to the needle? I can get pressure to pass through if I apply enough pressure but I don't know if it should pass freely like blowing through a straw.

    • @TheAmonsivais
      @TheAmonsivais 2 года назад

      Update: I was able to remove the needle assembly. There is an "L" nipple the hot water supply attaches to and that seems to be the source of the block. Not sure if it's a check valve but the hose is clear and the needle is clear. Going to soak in vinegar to see if that does it.

    • @TheAmonsivais
      @TheAmonsivais 2 года назад +1

      Update 2: The "L" nipple is a check valve. Soaking it alone in vinegar didn't help but I was able to snake a thin gauge wire into it and push the valve open. Wasn't sure it worked because blowing into it didn't allow air to flow but once reconnected the pressure from the machine was more than enough to start the flow again. Thanks again for this video!

      I've had the same issue with my keurig k35 compact. I opened the back cover and noticed water in tube was not reaching the water level sensor box. So, I used a turkey baster to push forced water from inside the reservoir unit into where the push valve is. Forcing water into the level sensor box. Add water blue light is now off.

    Man, the Lord bless you. Ran a descale and this thing went to pot. Thought it was the thermal switch, like in your k supreme video. I followed instructions from your two vids, and my slim is turning back on. I think, during the descale it actually continued to try and run without water, which was strange. I need to watch it more closely next time

    Great video. However after experiencing a Keurig Supreme failure with a less than 2 year old machine and seeing what is involved with trying to get one repaired I have to conclude Keurigs are garbage. A complete ripoff for a $160 machine that can't make coffee for 2 years and then is a giant PITA to fix. For the cost of time involved and parts cost I decided to just buy used machines off local sellers for $10-$30. When they die I will just spend replace them with another second hand unit.

    This is our second K-Classic. We had our first one for many years, so when we had to replace it, we wanted nothing else but this exact ruclips.net/user/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf model. We use it for about three people everyday in the morning. The taste and quick brew is one of the reasons we like it so much. There are so many choices of brands of coffee that we would grab what was on sale and test the different brands from there. I would definitely recommend trying different brands of coffee to find the ones you like the most because there are brands that quite frankly taste horrible.

      Could it also be because the descale light was on and I never descaled it , so it just stopped working ?

    • @JustADad
      @JustADad  2 года назад

      That could be, Have you tried to put it into descale mode?

    Sadly, older Keurigs make such better coffee. The newer units like this no longer have a water heater tank but instead rely on a "hot pipe" (tube with heating element wrapped around it) that water is pumped through as the coffee is brewed. At the end of every cycle, when the pump shuts off, as the water stops flowing, the remaining water in the pipe turns to steam and shoots into the K-cup scorching the grounds and putting a squirt of bitter coffee into you cup. This is not possible with the older units that can only deliver water at the correct temperature from their tank.
