  • If you've ever been told you should hold a broker open house, agent open house, or Realtor open house for your property, you should know the history of broker open houses and how effective they are in our market today! A broker open house is not the same thing as an open house for a particular brokerage, where ONLY agents of that brokerage may view the property. A broker open house is open to all agents, compared to a traditional open house, which is open to the general public. Knowledge is power, so hopefully this will give you some insight into how you spend your time and energy when selling your home. For those of you who have sold a home through a broker open house in the past, I bet that was 20-30 years ago. ;) Seriously, if you allow your agent to hold an individual brokerage open house (ONLY OPEN TO THAT COMPANY'S AGENTS) you are doing yourself a serious disservice by not opening your home to the broadest possible market. This could result in a "pocket listing", selling the home at a lower value because it wasn't open to competition in the market!
