Hello DIY car channel, I've changed probably hundreds of brakes on all sorts of cars and just sat having a cuppa and up popped your channel and after watching..... I've got to say well done!! I think anyone who's unsure who views your vids will feel comfortable tacking their relevant issue, no waffling, clear advice and great quality film, WELL DONE.
Great video and followed exactly to replace my brake pads with the yellow stuff. Any chance you can do the same for the rear and also how to change the braids? Star!
Excellent video. Question tough, do I have to change the sensor? Does it wear down with the brakes? My local autozone only has the pads. This is the only car I have that has sensors so I’m not sure if it’s a must to change with the pads.
I don't sorry with the sliders you dont go mad on them there's no need just tighten them with out using massive force The torque spec would be very low
Great video, tempted to try myself. Garage noted it on my service/MOT that pads are getting thin but want £120. I'd need that piston tool to do the job, what do you call it, so I can search them and see the price? Another question when I go to look at pads is there anything I should look for in particular for quality?
The mini brake sensors are a scam, sensor gets triggered (circuit breaks, by rubbing against rotor) with over 1cm of pads left and then the distance counter starts (around 10k km if i remember correctly) that remaining distance will keep going down whether you use the brake or not and once it reaches 0 you will get a super annoying alert everytime you start your car. My front brake pads still have a good 6-7mm left and my counter has reached 0 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼
@@Thediycarchannel how long did your pads lasted? my car only has 18,000 km and it’s due for front and rears already (although visually it still has 5mm+ of meat left) ridiculous, my previous merc pads lasted 30k+ and my honda 45k+. Took it to the mechanic and he wanted me to change the rotors too! 😂😂 i looked at him, dude my cars only done 18k and you want to change my rotors? and no i don’t drive agressive
Sparky a little wd40 on the connection. And remove dirt, it will slip back together no problem. If you don't feel confident don't attempt it, just take it to a garage. I'm not sure what mechanical knowledge you have.
@@Thediycarchannel I don't like to be defeated but i think i will just bite the bullet and take her to the garage Thanks for taking the time with me bud i appreciate it I dig holes for a living i have the skill set of a caveman but for a second i convinced myself i could do it Great video by the way 👌
If you can, if possible ask the garage to show you. It's fine to do but if you dont know it can be daunting. That's no worries thank you for watching and thanks for your comments.
@@Thediycarchannel Never believe what a shop tells you I bought new pads and sensor wire only to find that the pads have at least 80% left .The dash still showing that the pads are at the wear limit which they are not.

Yes it will need new sensors there is loads on eBay there do wear with the pads and you can reset it without a new sensor
Where did you position the 2 jackstands
I can't remember now it's been a long time but it would of been the main chassis it's a solid point of contact and where it's flat
Great video, but I think it would of definitely been worth sticking a new set of discs on while your there, they looked pretty bad.
Not my car and the customer said no
They look bad but not warped or cracked. Still good to use.
Was the customers choice to keep them ans they did
Hello !! Nice Video and saved ! Just a question, do you know the torque of the 2 bolts?
I don't sorry with the sliders you dont go mad on them there's no need just tighten them with out using massive force

Excellent :)

Brake rewind tool to fit mini.
I normally buy Delphi pads or better
You can do it yourself Stuart! And save that garage labor money for better pads!
Do you have to replace the sensor every time?
Yes if your pads are worn down because it wears the sensor too.

hello bud its just the sensors that bother me
Why? What do you mean. Why do they bother you
