So like, Iuchar is already risking his life to fight in a war, so he might as well be horny while doing so. Not to mention if things pan out well, he just might score Larcei in all this.

    Azel:
I think it's more like Azel heard that the girl he likes got kidnapped and her castle got taken over so he feels compelled to spring into action so save the girl he loves. In the FE4 manga, he finds a higher reason for fighting than just horny, but that probably doesn't count. Besides, he's going to be by Sigurd's side the whole time so there's no way that anything will go wrong.....right?
    Lex:
Azel being a footlocked mage mean that he's totally not going to make it all by himself. I'm sure Lex realized this.
    Homer:
I can't defend this dude if I'm being honest. I guess he's making it up to Nanna for being horny.
    Geitz:
Geitz is clearly a thrillseeker. There's a lot of other characters who love to fight for the hell of it, and Geitz is one of those dudes.
    Stefan:
It may not be conveyed well, but I think that wanting to create your own society of branded people is a noble enough cause. Why join Ike's army though? It may just be that living in the desert doesn't help him find more branded people all that much (aside from the ones he's already with) and that seeing an army that has both beorc and laguz working together may help improve his chances.
    Oliver:
So like, Oliver is already risking his life to fight in a war, so he might as well be horny while doing so. Not to mention if things pan out well, he just might score a bird in all this.

With that kind of track record, I expected her to still be with Ike's mercenaries when I first played the sequel game, Radiant Dawn, because no sane leader of a country would hire a former knight with a track record of desertion and theft, and it was his mercenaries she'd abandoned her post to go serve with.

-Gaius (Awakening), who broke into a palace to rob the place, then hears that he's supposed to kill the exalt and decides to join the other army because he doesn't vibe with that AND because the prince gave him a bag of candy.
-Virion (Awakening), who shows up during the beginning of the actual apocalypse to hit on a woman and then just sticks around for some reason??
-Henry (Awakening), who betrays his homeland because he wants to kill more? And apparently he can kill more people on the other side of the war?? (During a support with Ricken he even admits that he's close to half of the enemy army but he just doesn't care I guess?)
-My absolute favourite, Sylvain (Three Houses), who betrays his three closest friends and fights against his homeland because the new teacher's hot.
-Yuri, Balthus, Constance and Hapi (Three Houses), who have been hiding in an underground city and then out of nowhere decide _not_ to do that anymore because they're bored I guess??

Honestly, Oliver is genuinely insane, but also arguably the most "good" person on the begnion Senate sans Saniki. It makes sense why he has no loyalties to the rest of the senate, since they used him as a scapegoat in PoR, and surely between games has to have gotten an inkling that the other senators were behind the Heron Genocide and burning of the Serenes forest he loved so much.
Oliver may not have a redemption arc, but of all the Senators, he's the only one with even a single redeemable quality, and ultimately, seems more insane then malicious, since his love for beauty is so genuine.

Ferdinand openly criticize him and believes he's not suitable for being a ruler, Linhardt and Dorothea hates the war's brutality. Hilda calls him a mess. Like Ingrid shouldn't be able to join Edelgard but Sylvain and Felix can make interesting "if" scenarios in CF.
If someone's goal is opposing Edelgard, it's more logical to join Alliance instead of Faerghus because not only they're the strongest group against Edelgard, but also they're the most neutral group, yet Faerghus and Church both are almost beaten and defeated. Simple, straightforward, and isn't unnecessarily trying to be heart pulling. It's just warmth as you get to learn Joshua didn't actually bet her life on a coin and Natasha is a risk taker herself.
Completely off topic of the video but on the topic of FE8's supports; holy hell is Seth's monologue in his Eirika A ranked support HEAVY or what? I expected a tragic ending after that whole spiel. I normally don't go for the knight and princess trope but that was one of the only instances for it to take into account class difference on the Knight's side. Normally it's all "But what would other countries think of the princess??" as if princesses in these settings have no other purpose other than to be married. It's clear between the three we know in FE8 that they're much more proactive than they were in our medieval setting.

I feel the "I betrayed my country and joined this army because of you professor" of 3H should've gotten a honorable mention. Especially for Azure Moon and arguably Crimson Flower.
    [Long comment awaits]
In Azure Moon you have an army of an almost beaten country with a King in a very bad mental state, he openly states that he wants revenge and doesn't care about his comrades, he's also violent. It completely makes sense for people who have personal connection to him to support him (even though wanting him to be a king is still weird), or even for people who have grown in Faerghus' overall not-very-good culture; but I can't see why anyone from the Empire or Alliance to join him besides "muh professor".
Ferdinand critizes Dimitri and believes he's not suitable to be a ruler; Linhardt and Hilda doesn't believe in dying for the other person in war even though it's a big culture in Faerghus.
Alliance is overall the strongest anti-empire group in all routes after timeskip, so if anyone who want to oppose Edelgard, they would stay there or join them... but well professor.
Crimson Flower is a weird case, Edelgard's methods are quite questionable, she's basically a conquerer, but still she has her own goals which lots of the cast can sympathize with her. It would be a interesting what-if situation for Sylvain, Felix, Marianne or Ashe to join her, but then there is Ingrid which her personality is being knight of Faerghus, why the hell she's doing here. At least Lysithea and Lorenz were handled well and there is also some limitations for churchies for join, but still with all of the "muh professor"s it left a bad taste in my mouth.

@@KINGD353 Well first of all, compare how they look. Naesala very attractive, while Oliver is "the pinnacle of beauty".
Second of all, Oliver has a lot less of a reasonable motivation.
Obviously Naesala is forced into a lot of his RD actions by the plot contract, but his goal of doing everything for Kilvas no matter how cruel/wrong is understandable. He is a lot less selfish than Oliver.
Also a big difference between Leanne/Naesala and Oliver/any Heron is that Leanne actually seems to care for Naesala and he for her, as shown by his PoR actions (he betrays Petrine not for Reyson but for her). Where as Oliver would either put his heron in a golden cage or do other questionable stuff.
But I think it's mostly because Oliver is hot and people are jealous...

Sheeda's method of flying in the face of some male simp and starting some stupid conversation about love is hilarious. New Mystery even lampshades it, with Kris getting increasingly alarmed at how Sheeda mention them in the base conversations what she said to those units to recruit them.

You forgot the best part about Homer. On top of his ridiculous recruitment, he can actually become a great unit with very little effort. FE5 Mage + Paragon = Easily-trainable unit with insane promotion bonuses.
He comes with a high Light Magic rank in the very same Chapter where you get Nosferatu (which is a 60-use Light tome in Thracia). And he can also use Anima Magic without issue. That combined with his bonkers 5 FCM means that if he doubles something, it's definitely dead.
He's basically Asbel 2, but older and hornier and a bi icon.

One of my favorite weird recruitments (this one is from FE:3H, so I understand why it wasn't included in the video considering you're just joining a class and not an army exactly) is Sylvain's recruitment as Fem!Byleth.
