- No deep insight into fire emblem characters today. Just sitting back and enjoying fire emblem characters tear into other fire emblem characters with words. This is a short video going over some of my favorite burns, insults and zingers in the series.
This video contains spoilers for the following games: Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn, Awakening, Blazing Sword and Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.

Hey guys, pretty casual video for today! hope you enjoyed these sick burns as much as I did. I missed a bunch and even omitted some extras so the video wouldn't be too long. Like Awakening's Einherjars, Linhardt/Cyrl and so on. I also refrained from using some insults from Thracia 776, since I found the punchiest lines were had a lot of creative liberties done by the fanslation. I'd love to hear some of your personal favorites.

Ya know people give flack to the Fates first gen but I'll give credit where credit is due. THEY WERE TRYING TO KEEP THEIR KIDS SAFE LIKE RUDOLF! Yeah the child mechanic in Fates didn't need to be brought back and was FORCED but I can't call ANY of the FE gen 1 units in that game CLOSE to amoung what I'd consider the worst parents in the franchise. Not when folks like: Jedah (Turned his daughters into witches with only Sonya not suffering that TERRIBLE FATE), Gilbert (Who Faergast himself already did a better job roasting than I ever could), & not to mention (And this is personal) BROM who let his daughter Meg go & stock one of his old friends (I only mentioned dads that have actual screen time but DON'T GET ME STARTED on Chrom's dad)
Not really a roast but my favorite Oliver moment was when he joins the party and Ike asks him to rejoin the enemy.

This is why I enjoy Lorenz, that and he is overpowered as a Dark Knight with Thyrsus
Lorenz's snark and sarcasm levels are off the charts when Sylvain tries to show him up at getting a date and fails miserably.

My favorite burn is from Lorenz largely because it is Lorenz. Sylvain catches him striking out with a girl and tries to show him how it's done. You can imagine the success rate. Then Lorenz, this serious, unironic, noblehearted scrub who never succeeds at a lie or sarcasm, meets him with
"Exquisite. Simply masterful. When is the wedding?"
Sylvain says that, not lorenz. It's directed to Lorenz from sylvain

“Ike the father of Sothe’s children.” Will always the best roast
That roast is golden without context, but once you know the reason it was said it's more just Micaiah being a stubborn child. Sothe was just talking about how great of a warrior and a person Ike was, Ike literally recruited some random thief, the thief being Sothe, which allowed him to see how great if a man Ike is. Ike may not be the father of Sothe's children but he'll definitely be the Grandfather
Roast so good, Micaiah's VA in Heroes, Veronica Taylor, said the line for a request.

My favorite goes to Soren in Path of Rafiance when talking about Volke.
Soren: "I believe this is a good opportunity. We will almost certainly have need of this man's talents. He is a dubious character at best, but at least we know his motives. Everything begins and ends with gold. He'll be easy to control."
Ike: "Soren, he's standing right there."
Soren: "I don't think he minds."
To be fair, Volke doesn`t mind.^^ Also Soren is always a source of dry wit if he talks to someone not named Ike.^^
I genuinely love how pragmatic and ice-cold Soren is. His conversations with Micaiah in 3-7 and 3-13 and Pelleas in 3-E are honestly the best ones.

Damn Wallace atleast is an S tier roaster
The wench and teapot names are pretty good, but Wallace coming in with that burn ended the contest
And that's one of the reasons why Wallace is one of my favorite characters in FE7.

Haar's lines being so dry and casual makes me think of the Dutch for some reason. Heck, "haar" is in fact a real Dutch word meaning hair.

@@wolfspirit7239 Aversa and Gangrel were bickering amongst themselves, calling each other names and stuff and at the end they said to each other that they could go on forever with that without ever running out of insults for each other. Aversa then said "Shall we make it a contest, then?" and then Gangrel replied with just "Your mother was a contest!" which ended the conversation xDD

Honestly, so many lines I could include from Mercedes. She’s brutal at times.
Mercie is merciless when it comes to words sometimes.
Others... are her and Annette's B-Support which FRICKING SUCKS.
There’s her first conversation with Ferdie where she just agrees uncomfortably for a while and the says she’s sleepy and is going to bed.
Also the softness of her VA's delivery makes it all the more brutal. Like this soft angelic queen just being like "wow you really are pathetic"
The fact that Mercedes is the nicest character in the game just adds to how brutal she is in those supports
After you recruit Oliver and talk to him with Ike:
Ike: Hold on a second... Aren't these your men? Why are you fighting them?
Oliver: It's quite simple, really. A true guardian of beauty stands with those who are beautiful. If your exquisite heron prince will not stay here in my home, I must follow him. I have seen death; it holds no mystery for me. Only my pursuit matters. Rest at ease, friends.
Ike: Look... Would you mind rejoining the enemy?

Missed Inigos Funniest comeback on Owain

That roast from Inigo to Owain was great, but I still believe Inigo basically calling Owain a virgin and Owain deflecting that roast is way more epic!

Don't forget Elise's roast to Owain/Odin "you have a fragile labyrinth of a mind?"

The first time you meet Hapi when you enter Abyss in a non Ashen-Wolf playthrough as female Byleth she says “I heard you were beautiful, but obviously that was an exaggeration.” I legitimately had to pause the game because of how hard I was laughing

My favorite burn is from Haar in chapter 2-p against Zeffren.

Haar's lines in general are great. His line against Levail is my favorite though.

Haar's reply to Levail in the Tower at the end of RD was stone cold. When Levail says he would die for General Zelgius, Haar replies "Yes, Levail, you will."
Haar is just too good. Aside from Ike and laguz royals, he's basically the best character in the game.
Lucina: "Are you insinuating that I'm naiive?"
F!Robin: "Oh I'm not insinuating anything, I'm flat out saying it!"
"Your strength, King Daein, is not sufficient. That is why I am here"
I love that line
Maribelle is the queen of tearing people apart, her supports with Virion especially make me howl... not just because he deserves it

I mean when you call most enemies curs or beasts you kinda get an understanding for how snide Maribelle can be.
Maribelle has mastered the art of throughoutly insulting the opposing person with such style and refinery. :D

I never thought a game so focused on noble families destroying themselves would have a simple "No, U" in the script.
Same goes in FE9, between Jarod and Sothe at the end of part 1. Without the family part, of course.^^
Dimitri vs. Manuela was fucking brutal
Manuela: You've grown into a fine, handsome man, Dimitri. Bit of a shame you've also become a violent beast. Men like you make the Silver Maiden cry.
Dimitri: Oh? I suppose it is a shame, Professor Manuela. Perhaps I should have appeared before you holding a bouquet of flowers, rather than the weapon that will end your life.

The only way you will fight Manuela and Hanneman in Azure Moon is if you reject them (which would be for literally no reason) and if you reject them for absolutely nothing I too would join the disgusting thing people call Edelgard.

- Raphael (unintentionally) doing a spot-on impression of Lysithea while comparing her to his sister.
The part that kills me is that it's the best impression of the game. When Raphael has been the most adept ANYTHING else in 3H I don't know, which is a big part of his charm.
Possibly almost better is in their ending card where it says Lysithea and Raphael's sister became kindred spirits and best friends
Are we not going to talk about how in the zofia harbor dlc Clive calls Slayde a rat for escaping. Specifically he said "Rats don't sink, Fernand. They scurry."
I lowkey stan all the characters whose supports always have at least a 50% chance of just being a roast. Lysithea, Delthea, Leon, Maribelle... :D

Lukas’ other sick burn in the Deliverance DLC
You may want to look into Jakob’s supports, I just got one with him and Hana where she says he’s pretty rude and he responds, “I get that a lot, usually from people not worth my time”

Chrom: "Perhaps this explains why your own soldiers refuse to stand behind you?"

Chrom has alot of good comebacks in general, but my favorite is when he fights Walhart

Let’s not forget haar is almost always asleep and is essentially a lazy mailman in radiant dawn he delivers mail and he certainly delivers some of the best lines and beat downs in the series seriously is there any reason not to use him he’s one of the best units and is hilarious and cold af I see 0 reasons to bench him

In "Infinite Regalia" for FE Awakening, Gangrel has one of my favorite burns against the Deadlords.
"'Deadlords,' was it? You lost me at 'dead.' Bwah ha ha ha!"

"To me, you're only good at one thing -- and you're about to do it again!"
My favorite burn, hands down, is Miciah calling out Sothe for his fan-boying over Ike. "Ah yes general Ike. Hero of the world, and father of Sothe's children."

I love their supports so much. Mercedes can be unexpectedly ruthless at times. I lost it laughing when she called Lorenz out on everything in that support 😂

I love how she subtly (or not so subtly in Lorenz' case) calls everybody out and is usually full in cotnrol of the flow of the conversation.
She'd be one dangerous woman to have as an enemy at court.

My favorite is still the classic "You disgust me beyond words" when Ike goes to Begnion for the first time.
I mean, you even included footage from the battle but I gotta say, Haar’s conversation with the boss of 2 Prologue is brutal.

Not sure if it's exactly a zinger or an insult, but nothing caught my attention in Awakening's minor dialogue better than Frederick landing a critical and "Pick a god and pray!" gracing my ears for the first time.
What a line, man.
It also helps that it was delivered with such passion.
It does become a really sick burn if you have Freddy crit on Grima and he tells him to pray. :D

Half of Echoes' endgame lines are just the characters roasting Duma lmao. Leon kinkshaming the final boss is a massive roast though
Lukas & Haar are some of my favorite characters and this is one of the many reasons why
For anyone who wants a laugh, check out FE10's support conversation list and look at the number of unique lines that all the characters have for Oliver. Almost every character just dunks on Oliver. It's amazing! Below are some of the highlights.
Elincia: "Duke Tanas, I’m sure nobody ever asks this of you, but, do you mind if I come along with you?"
Tanith: "Duke Tanas, is it? I’ve heard much about you-most of it bad. But I hadn’t heard how well you fight"
Sigrun (A-Support): "You’re puffy and bloated-yes. Some would say you’re hideous-yes. But, I am strangely drawn to you. If only we could be together forever, Duke Tanas."
Lethe: (A-Support) "Duke Tanas, I am impressed by your tenacity. Maybe you aren’t worthless, after all. Stay near me so I can protect you to the end."
Haar: "Duke Tanas, if I die here… I want you to know I never liked you. Doesn’t mean I won’t help you, though."
Haar (again): "Duke Tanas, have you showered lately? You know, stink won’t fight ’em off altogether. Let’s team up."
Kotaro taunts Saizo about how he killed his father without him landing a single hit and that the same is going to happen again.
When Saizo kills him he snaps back with: "How's that? Did I land a single blow?" As Kotaro chokes on his own blood.
Returning the line back is an artform in itself. Reminds me of Starcraft 2 and Stukov:
Narud to Stukov: "Stukov! You came here to gloat?"
Stukov: No. I came to say good night, you son of a *itch. (For context, "Say good night, Stukov." was Naruds line when he killed Stukov in Starcraft 1.)
for 3h rep, mercedes/lorenz supports have some pretty sick burns. I also love linhardt's "Is that so? You'll have to tell me about it sometime when I'm not walking away..."
One thing most people neglect about Gray's memetic "Shut up, Tobin" is that it was in response to Tobin eviscerating the bluster Gray was spouting in one fell swoop... so I guess you could call that a burn administered by Tobin.
