Also train hierarchy is also so important. Commuter-U can use the metro trains for commuter rail just the prob u can’t put them onto the main lines. Intercity- a relatively fast and flexible service that can go on any line except branch lines Cross country/High speed rail-Trains that has a dedicated line for super speed and goes directly out of the city. Freight: Shunter-The most common of freight that gets all ur goods and industries to ur main depot. Super freight-Frieght that goes from ur main depot to ur the outside world u shouldn’t really use the high speed line for it tho.
You _can_ use the subway trains as actual heavy rail trains by tweaking copies of them... or they are already tweaked for you in the Rail Infrastructure Pack (PdxMods)
@@rafcion6726 They don't actually. Freight trains' engine prefabs are capped at 240 whereas the passenger train engine prefabs are capped at 320 (I'm assuming km/h)
This is one of my biggest gripes with map design in these games. Unless you're playing with rail unlocked from the start, you have to really plan ahead to stick rail in afterwards or be ready to tear down and start over to make it fit in. It's hard to have a starting city that doesn't feel like it just popped up out of nowhere unless the early map has a bay or something that would make sense for a harbor that the city grew around.
@@imperatur Actually... Algernon's "Historical Start" mod (one of the oldest mods) unlocks rail from the beginning (along with a couple of other things like farming)
In real life most large cities started out before trains, but trains came pretty early in the history. London was already quite large before trains arrived and the very first train line (Spa Rd to Greenwich) was on a brick elevated viaduct from day 1. In other cases lines were built at ground level with level crossings first (and they had to demolish a lof of buildings) and when traffic got too busy or they wanted to go from 2 tracks to 4, the raised the track up on viaducts. In modern times they usually dig tunnels because there's too many buildings to demolish them. Outer suburbs got rail before any development, and they built stations out in the countryside. Suburbs were then built around the stations, or sometimes the railway would "arrive" at a small village and once they built a station it grew suddenly.
man, its been a few weeks only since you came back and i rarely watch CS content now due to busy schedule but I just have to say, it’s great to see you back again! keep up the good work and i hope things are doing well on your side :)
If I build railway tracks first or fit roads and railway tracks together always depends on the setting. "Old" parts of my cities always get railway first. Modern parts should resemble infrastructural updates and upgrades due to city development and technological innovations. Besides of that, great video again and I really like that you explain how to achieve that without mods in general.
Beautiful vid, thanks! Now all we need, is CS1, about 100 mods, 3000 assets and we can start! Seriously folks, get Revo and Ronyx assets, CS2 doesn't even come close to those details...
train grades matter because freight trains especially the heavier ones can only make it up a grade about %1.5 without extra locomotives meanwhile most passenger trains especially the diesel ones can make it up grades up to %3.5
For my part, I drew a lot of inspiration for the air metro in cities skylines from the elevated station in downtown Colombes ( which is the city where I live). Google eath coordinates : 48°55'25"N 2°15'34"E
great video!!!!! 😅 consider making a video about tunnel construction, I'm currently having serious problems doing it and I found some friends who are also doing it
I have an idea, you should make a series on the map Tropical overpass (I believe it is called) and have it fully (gameplay vanilla) and no in-game cheats at all
YES! Protips from Imperatur, this is the purest ASM for me. Do love your videos, even if I seem to forget to like them, I do apologize for that, still like going back watching some of your older ones. This harbor build of yours is still a video I go back to for inspiration. ruclips.net/video/JFXtWtgjsB0/видео.html&ab_channel=imperatur Great usage of buildings to get an amazing looking harbor
Add sound barriers to track... hmmm... I wonder if _that_ can be added to the Rail Infrastructure Pack... It shall be investigated! But the bridges thing... already in the Rail Infrastructure Pack "mod" Tips after my own heart though fella!
I am playing on Steam Deck haha Never going to have this colouful frames. But it is really nice to watch your take on the game imperatur x city planer plays when?
Why do you bake-in open captions, and not use RUclips's built in closed captioning? If someone needs subtitles, they might need the customisation options the player provides.
in Transport Fever 2, we get lots of bridge and tunnels options, and they look nice, when you build the road, it doesn't instantly construct it because it stays in blueprint mode so you can change slope, height and elevations, and also choose variety of things for bridges to tunnels, and this game isn't about City Builder completely, but already did their job on details....but why and how, in 2024 we have to deal with a city builder game like Cities Skylines 2 that didn't have any variety of bridges, no customizations for roads, neither rails infrastructures, and can't do tunnels, zero 💀 and the retaining walls 💀 not helpful, just lame...I don't even know what happened on the production of Cities Skylines 2, but they're so oblivious...even forgot the necessities of retaining walls and concrete walls options, so we don't have to use pedestrian paths everywhere to get a retaining wall 💀 and ai won't talk about the biggest issue, no bike lanes... no way to make parks and mark areas as park zones....lack of details on those small park and recreations design...lack of people for those areas....lack of people on service buildings... everywhere... workers don't exist... police is just cars 💀.... when fire is spreading out, you only see the icons, weird icons...and the fire animation is ugly....oh man oh man, where did this timeline went wrong...since Pandemic this world looks crazier weird... Makes me worried about GTA 6 💀
This is exactly the kind of content I need to get better, I love your detailed builds, but I just can't seem to replicate the way you do things !
Awesome!:)
it really is about seeing a few things, replicating them on a small scale just to understand how it works, then apply that knowledge in your cities.
Also train hierarchy is also so important.

Good for transport fever but in cities all trains cruise at the same speeds and accelerate quite rapidly🥲
@@rafcion6726 They don't actually. Freight trains' engine prefabs are capped at 240 whereas the passenger train engine prefabs are capped at 320 (I'm assuming km/h)
"Flatter the better not every where offcourse" you got me there 😂😂
Wish a vanilla city can start with a train station some day
That would be cool:)

100% agree, so great to have our good german builder back
Love your videos, most inspiring cs2 creator there is. Your pronounciation has improved so much in this one
Your videos are the best!
Thank youu:))

Those are the perfect tips man, thanks a lot. So much inspiration for me
Can you continue that cs1 city you started a few days ago
Yeah but maybe i will continue also last angeles what do you think about that?:D

I think lowered Train Tracks fit Perfect between Downtown Highways Like the A100 in Berlin

Good tutorial, please could you do tips and tricks for realism if you have the time 😁
There's a song about grade separation? looool love it
The song says "degree of separation" lol
Nice railway lessons!
All of the example being in London is pretty impressive
great video!!!!! 😅 consider making a video about tunnel construction, I'm currently having serious problems doing it and I found some friends who are also doing it

Best for tutorials:D
Super useful guide 👌
Thanks for the tips! Completely random, but what visual mods are you using?

so the recommendation is to layout railways first but they are not available at the start!!
At sandbox mode you can

Unfortunately, you can't build your railway first in CS1.

How does your game look so good?
preserve photo mode mod probably
If u mean the texture then it is a mod
Ive been loading mods all day yet my game looks absolute gash still. This game needs a dynamic resolution mod.
I think map texture replacer makes a big difference
