  • In this Video Rob repots a Camellia Japonica (Japanese Camellia) into a new terracotta pot. Camellia Japonica belong to the Tea family (Theaceae). It grows between 1.5m and 2m tall and is hardy down to -15 degrees Celsius. The plant requires acidic soil (ericaceous soil) as it is lime hating and should not be watered with hard water. Rain water is best.

Hi Rob, some website recommend a mulch but I noticed you haven't. Just wondered what your thoughts are on that?

Where you keeping your lawn mower? Nothing to do with the lawn; might have something to do with a water butt project ;)

I am going to pick up 5 pots of camellia next week from a seller. I live in Maryland zone 7a. Should I plant them right away since I have heard people say because the room temperature is high and inside the house is very dry because of the heat, some camellia died. Please let me know what soil do I need to buy from Homed Depot. Thanks

My camelia was the same. I think we need to make the soil more acidic?

You forgot to tease the roots a bit. If you don't the roots will start to choke themselves!
