I feel like Daniel was doing everything he could to not call the sand coarse and rough or to complain about it getting everywhere
Agreed
I don’t like sand. It’s coarse, and rough, and irritating, and it gets everywhere.

The fact that we know daniel is slowly getting more and more chaotic, but its not like we're gonna stop him
Chaotic good.
It's like the 5 stages of greif but for insanity

Well I mean why would anyone stop this genius
He reminds me of Jreg
This is the most relatable video/documentary I have ever seen. I thought that I was just weird for not liking the beach, but here’s another beach-hater.

Why is your comment 90yrs old
I need this written out as a monologue so I can memorize it and explain why the beach sucks whenever someone asks me why I dont like it
The transition talking about stickiness of sand to talking about syrup was smooth
Smooth, yet sticky...in our minds.
Hi again!
That so genuine that I'm never gonna be sure if it was just a bit, or if it was an actual soul-baring confession. 5/7 would watch again.
Right? I would've assumed it was just a bit, if it weren't for the *zero lies detected.* But what can I say? I hate the beach.
5/7 is something I haven’t seen in a long time 💀
what happened to 5/10
Same thing crossed my mind
Well, I seriously doubt that it was a "soul-bearing confession" lol
This is the most relatable thing I have EVER seen. It ESPECIALLY sucks when you swim and then you have to some how traverse the ground of sharp, shards of earth, which stick mercilessly to your moist skin, providing such great, great irritation and pain. So yeah. Surprisingly, I think deserts are cool tho lol.
This was beautiful. Never before have I seen or heard my distaste for the beach so excruciatingly, wonderfully articulated.
This casting is insane. I can't believe the diversity in characters
It's like he's saying everything I've ever thought about the beach. I live in Florida, and people are surprised when I say I hate the beach. I feel validated.
I live in Florida as well, and I too hate the beach, along with other things. Lol
I really don’t like the beach either
I was literally talking about this exact thing today, pools are just better beaches, but because I live on an island where the beach is always only a few minutes away, there are no pools ;-;
Tbh I never thought the beach was paradise. I hear beach and I think salty water that's not fun to swim in, sunburns, and sand. Not at all utopia

They broke the mold when they made that one! Daniel is one of a kind! Thanks Daniel!

I was expecting this to turn into an Anakin-type sketch of him just being like, "I hate sand!", but this is much better
Same 🤣
Nothing is worse than when you have to reapply the sunscreen while covered in sticky sand. It’s like scrubbing shards of glass into your skin 😰😭
Also, why is this video clearer than my actual eyeballs? Now I finally realize that I, TOO, HATE THE BEACH. THANKS DANIEL.

Fun times, fun times.
Despite all this, the beach is my comfort place and that will never change. *Nothing* can destroy my love for the beach
As an avid beach lover I can appreciate this video for the accuracy of the struggles of the beach experience. Stunning. Unfortunately Daniel, I will not be disliking the beach.

This may be one of Daniel’s best video EVER! It’s so in depth and sophisticated I love it!
Yes, from someone who also hates sand, it is definitely on point.

The amount of time Daniel spent on the beach to film this video shows how committed he is lol
Your videos make my day. Every time you post it's like the heavens open up and send down a masterpiece that should not exist yet very much should.
Anakin Skwalker and Daniel would be the perfect duo for a podcast regarding sand
Yes. Collab please.
It's cancelled due to hate speech against Sand.
YES EXACTLY. I used to LOVE the beach as a kid, but now that I'm older it's getting harder and harder to like. It's always too bright, the water's always annoying and sandy, there's always some annoying kid making noise, people feel the need to blast music RIGHT NEXT TO ME so I can't read, and the sand is horribly irritating. The only good thing about the beach is that it's pretty
The beach is fun until you get there.
Unless it is full of plastic and trash, then its not even pretty
The only thing wrong with the beach is the people on the beach,no people equals no trash no music no annoying kid and no complaints about sticky sand, the beach is bad because of us
This whole vid (except for the balloon thing) is so freakishly close to home I feel kinda comforted and unsettled at the same time
That transition from “sand is sticky”, to “sticky like syrup”, is like how I transition conversations😂
I was skeptical at first but after seeing this video the whole way through I gotta say I agree 100%

I feel the exact same way, and its so bad because my parents loves the beach and they always make me go with them.
Hey, Daniel’s a man of his word. This really was the greatest sponsored sketch
Honestly, I SHUDDERED at how accurate your description of the beach's numerous discomforts was. I always used to think that I was the only one who found the beach annoying but NOPE, it just comes down to how much the "positives" of the beach outweigh the negatives in your mind. For most people, the beach is "strangers, swimming, volleyball", but for people like me (and evidently Mr. Thrasher here) who DETEST those things, the beach is nothing but a hot, gritty, slimy torture chamber designed to suck the living soul out of introverts. A quiet, icy tundra, SURE! A serene, rainy forest, YES PLEASE! Lot's of people like to say "oh it's the sand lol it's coarse and rough and it gets everywhere" but no, NO... The Beach. Air. *S T I N K S* !!! Seriously, do you REALLY think I wanna sit on a damp towel and sniff the sweet, sweet aroma of decaying fish and putrid body odor? Why is the water so darn murky? Am I swimming in sewage? It sure smells like it! Whose job is it to clean up the freaking bathrooms because honestly they make the sandy hellscape outside look lavish in comparison AM I STANDING IN SWEATY SEAWATER OR PEE!?!? And honestly, people have None, ZERO MANNERS when they're at the beach! They let their kids run amock while they drink beer and cook, getting smoke IN MY EYES!!! They don't wipe their kid's noses so they're literally eating Sandy Snot and getting it all over my dog! The teens play volleyball and run like it's a sick game "How much sand can I kick into the faces of strangers?" My sunglasses get all smudgy just from EXISTING near the beach. PEOPLE ARE LOUD. THE TEXTURES ARE TERRIBLE. *I. HATE. THE. BEACH!!!*
I'm sorry I just really needed to vent, years of being forced on beach outings against my will have taken a mental toll. Excellent Video! :)
Dont go to warm beaches; go to cold wet ones. Much better. Sand stays still, easy to wash off
It sounds a lot like your main problems are 1: Other people. Which is fair, I too would prefer to be alone with my group on the beach. and 2: whatever beach you're going to is on a crap body of water and most likely IS full of sewage. I promise you there are many beaches throughout the world that do not smell awful.
its like poetry
The thing about stinky sea air and murky water makes me think you live in the Netherlands or some place with a climate similar to it bc yeah, our beaches do be like that.
My mother hated going to the beach too, so you're not alone.
She was mostly disappointed though, because media made her believe sand in your toes was a good thing.
SAND. FROM BEFORE!!!!!
I don’t know why but I keep coming back to this sketch. It’s definitely a depression buster. 😂
2:17 I love how Daniel gives him the cold shoulder and even puts on the sunglasses!!
I absolutely loved this video. Especially the dog that can do algebra, the dog honestly changed my life
Can confirm. My car has never been near a beach, nor have I in the time I've owned it. And yet it has a few grains of sand in it somehow.
hahhhAHA
As someone who lives in a beach town, I relate a lot
I love this video. You can hear Daniel's pent up anger he has had for years through his voice. xD
I love that he made this way more eerie and miserable than it actually is.
as someone who is not Dan but also hates the beach, unfortunately this is only the tip of the the-beach-is-terrible iceberg. and i think i would know what im talking about, being born and raised on the California coast. (Maybe even near where Dan filmed this video?? It looks eerily familiar, but then I guess a lot of California beaches look the same lol)
It is that miserable.
No. No, this is 100% accurate.
Are you sure he's not?
sadly, the beach is the worst.
the sun is way too fucking hot and the sand absorbs all of that heat, which makes it ultra hot pebble fun time. the water is awful because of the salt and sometimes has seaweed completely covering the shallow ends (aka squishy walks for five minutes until you are freed). if you have ever tried to eat anything while on the beach without getting sand into your mouth, you must know by now that that is impossible. sand spiders are a thing as well and holy fucking shit they are terrifying because you never expect to see them.
i'd rather dive straight first into a 2ft kiddie pool.
I love the chemistry between the characters. Truly remarkable.
2:42 This is hilarious lol
Can we appreciate how open he’s being with his feelings? Gg to you
Don’t know about everyone else, but I Love Daniel’s sketches that take on random aspects of life
Why is all of this SO FREAKING AGREEABLE!?!? Whenever I got to Florida everyone says "ohhhhh, let's go to the beach!" and I'm like "NO! sand SUCKS and it gets EVERYWHERE, and then our WHOLE car is FULL OF SAND!" The same goes for syrup, every time we eat breakfast anywhere everyone uses syrup but me because I know that no matter how hard I try it'll get everywhere!!!

this reminds me of a time when I was young:my feet were super sandy, I went to the water to get the sand off, Walk back over to the sand, they got sandy again, go to water to wash off, sandy again, water, sand. same cycle over and over. Eventually my mom called me and I did the same thing, but I had to just deal with it, and walk back to the car with my feet covered in sand. The beach is nice, its just the sand that is annoying.

I think it is safe to say that Daniel thrasher indeed does not like the beach
The cat was like huh?!😂
4:22 I love how you can hear Charlie's "WOOOOO YEAH BABY" in the background. Nice detail
Sand is probably the thing that brings out my OCD the most. I had a panic attack last time I went to the beach, and that was a year and a half ago. I also live in Florida so that makes in infinitely worse.
Everyone around me (my mom included) becomes so surprised when I say the same thing. FINALLY someone shares my opinion! It sure is a lot of hell and trouble to get in and out of there. The worst part about getting sand everywhere is that it’s so f***ing hard to wash off no matter how many showers you take. Not to mention the wind; if you do bring stuff with you, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get out all the stuff because of the goddamn wind! And I’m surprised you didn’t mention going in the water: I remember one time where I went in the water and it was FREEZING! Thr beach is only good for getting either wet or covered in sand. I think you and I would be great friends, Daniel.

@@eliotmorris4738 well, going to the beach doesnt mean its good
The is such a great story. Seeing the story through the main character's eyes, you can feel the annoyance, the disgust, the pain of dealing with these major obstacles in life. These small annoying little things that a lot of us has experienced which connects us and makes the character relatable, piling up gradually, eventually becoming such a huge obstacle in the main character's life that prevents him from experiencing joy, is something we're all familiar about. It's something many of us can relate to.
Then the story diverts your attention from sand, to syrups, to balloons, to whatever annoying little thing it is, using their similarities; the annoyance, mainly the pain of having to deal with their stickiness, which is the core theme of the story. And when the biggest conflict arrives, when the precious balloon animal pops, *BOOM,* _sand._ All along, it has always been about the sand. The sand is what ties everything together. It's where the disgust from feeling stickiness started, it has a main similarity with the syrup which makes breakfast and beach hard to enjoy, and it's what popped the balloon, pushing the main character to redo the balloon animal, and pushing him to go through the pain, the AGONY of dealing with the kid's stick hands again. It might even be the reason why the kid's hand is sticky in the first place, because how would the kid get sticky sand on their hand that popped the balloon in the first place? That's right, it's from the beach. With the final conflict won by the sand, the sand effectively stopped him from moving on, stopping him from trying to enjoy the beach anymore, making him hate the beach for the rest of his life.
That's brilliant.
I always laugh the hardest at the "zero-sum game" part.
