I had to force myself to make some life decisions at one point. A very intelligent Catholic priest told me if I kept being indecisive then nothing would happen at all. I realized I didn’t want to be on my deathbed realizing I spent my life waiting for something to happen. So I made the best decisions I could with the information I had. Although I wonder sometimes what would have happened if I made other choices, I’m glad I actually made choices and stuck with them.
As someone who's been having extreme anxieties around death and dying recently and existential crises around that end, something about the weird metaphor made me happy. Not as if something totally clicked in my head, but enough of a fitting piece that I don't feel as bad.

If we were immortal, we would never truly experience what it means to be a human despite the pain and suffering. Death reminds us to keep going forward and instills a sense of urgency, it helps us remember what is important and brings us closer to the true essence of humanity. Fast cars and fancy gadgets will never be able to compete with the simple beauty of human connection, the sunset in a glorious day, the sip of a tea in a warm afternoon, the beautiful walk under the starts. These experiences, all our happy memories, are only happy bc they are temporary. Embrace death my friend and truly be free from the shackles this world has thrown upon you in an effort to hide the ultimate truth.
