The sheer fact that public announcements are in uyghur, that shops have signs in uyghur only, etc... shows that there is something wrong in our media's narrative. It could have been interesting to ask the little girl how education is delivered now. If I am not mistaken, in minorities areas, most courses are in the minority's language, there are courses of Chinese (Mandarin) as the common national language, and of English as international language.
Do you really think that this is all there is in East Turkestan? Just because people have shops doesnt mean they are not oppressed. Millions of Uyghurs are in concentration camps. Foreigners can also travel to Xinjiang freely to see it by themselves (not like Tibet, foreigners must be accompnied by their Chinese friends instead of traveling alone), but they never come here, they only talk like they have dreamed of Uyghurs every day. On our social media, I sometimes see Xinjiang minorities talk about their neglecting their language because their parents sent them to Han school where the education is better, they worried more and more minorities stop teaching their children their own language, this shares the same fate with many many Chinese dialects, my 5-year-old nephew were never taught how to speak our dialect, when every one of our family speaks the dialect on a table, he could only speak mandarin. I am happy to see so many Uyghurs are still speaking their laguage in daily life. Wish all the languages and dialects can be preserved well.

thank you for this, it was a really interesting video. in case you're curious (and i know you didn't mean any offence by this), the man at the graveyard didn't shake your hand as it is generally seen as disrespectful/taboo in islamic cultures to shake the hand of the opposite gender. usually people greet the opposite gender via a slight nod/placing both hands on their chest. looking forward to the next one! would be great to see another xinjiang vlog

Kashgar was my last expedition 10,000km checkpoint back in 2008. I remember eating the best Plov rice, the best sashlik in the street. The ancient city made of mudbrick housing was amazing, i wonder if its still exist like before..

It could have been interesting to ask the little girl how education is delivered now. If I am not mistaken, in minorities areas, most courses are in the minority's language, there are courses of Chinese (Mandarin) as the common national language, and of English as international language.

On our social media, I sometimes see Xinjiang minorities talk about their neglecting their language because their parents sent them to Han school where the education is better, they worried more and more minorities stop teaching their children their own language, this shares the same fate with many many Chinese dialects, my 5-year-old nephew were never taught how to speak our dialect, when every one of our family speaks the dialect on a table, he could only speak mandarin. I am happy to see so many Uyghurs are still speaking their laguage in daily life. Wish all the languages and dialects can be preserved well.

My friend is traveling around China and she said that the Xinjiang people are the happiest people she has seen in China so far. I am waiting to travel there myself, there are so many wonderful things to see and the food is amazing.

Out of my family friends a few has very kindness but unfortunately their kindness got manipulated by the west and taiwan media. It is very sad US chooses to use the old tactic to create a so-called enemy when China is totally innocent. If it was India or Japan whom is the second world strongest economic power, they would face the same nonsense pressure. Although now some of these new westerners aren't that friendly thanks to the media two Indians helpers whom helped us move we got along very well and they are very friendly. The younger one heard we are moving to China he became a bit less friendly but the older one was excited and told us he has only been to India and Thailand in the future he wants to travel to China

The western brain washing is deep consider the west is the biggest media giants for ages. Even myself hearing some special wordings about eastern country, I've sometimes got a negative feeling out of nowhere but in truth I know that is not how things are in the east today. People let their past emotion override their logical thinking without seeking out the truth, continue with that hate train will not get them anywhere except jealousy and disappointments when they eventually meet reality. Other western countries are also not immune to the superiority syndrome and the military industrial complex of the US is having. They cannot allow anyone better than them and will always try to keep these countries on their knees for them to exploit. They don't even care about their citizen's well beings, don't even think or bother if they care about anyone else. I applaud for China's advancement while facing such huge obstacles, it is an inspiration for many countries to follow. Wish every country work toward peace and co operation for the betterment of mankind. Since we all stuck in this little bubble, lets not make it worse for ourselves.

Kashgar was my last expedition 10,000km checkpoint back in 2008. I remember eating the best Plov rice, the best sashlik in the street. The ancient city made of mudbrick housing was amazing, i wonder if its still exist like before..
