    Great Video, i like your series. But here is something slighty wrong: a "mail-enable Security group" is not(!) a security group with a mailbox. It's a security group with a distribution list.
    Mailbox and distribution groups are different things

    • @AndyMaloneMVP
      @AndyMaloneMVP  2 года назад +2

      You know what? You got me! I knew that. Of course the difference between a mail enabled security group and a mailbox enabled is that you are correct and mail enable security group maps to a distribution list. Thanks for pointing that out great detective powers, I love it🤩

    As an end-user without Admin rights, I just want to understand something: If you add a Team to a Group, will that mean that there will only be one SharePoint TeamSite? Reason I am asking is that in my organisation, we are allowed to for instance create an Outlook Group, but there is no option to add Teams to the Group. Some officials then go ahead and also create a Team (and add the Group as a member). In my mind, the Group will have its own SharePoint TeamSite and the Team will have a different SharePoint TeamSite. How do we resolved this issue as end-users? I would have loved to rather just work in Teams, and be able to add an Outlook Contact Group (distribution list) as a member of the Team, but Teams only pick up Groups. Our projects involves large numbers of people, and to add everybody individually to a Team, is certainly not what Microsoft had in mind?

    This was extremely helpful, and that's an understatement. However, I am wandering if we're all going to pretend like he didn't change from "Stirling IT dept" to "Stirling IT Staff".

    I was hoping to learn more about where I can use the m365 groups. Can i use them for security purposes in power BI or for permissions in stuff like power apps

    • @AndyMaloneMVP
      @AndyMaloneMVP  4 месяца назад

      You would create a security group rather than collaborative M365 group as you can set permissions on these.

  • @ahsadmin3665
    @ahsadmin3665 2 года назад

    Thanks Andy, very useful. I wonder if you have come across this illogical 'feature' in groups/teams? If you email a team from Outlook (using it as a distribution list) it does not send the email to the team owners!? I find that mad. 🙄

    • @AndyMaloneMVP
      @AndyMaloneMVP  2 года назад +1

      It's a permissions thing. Use a Microsoft 365 Group / Team instead as Distribution groups have limitations, noticeably security!

    How to create distribution grop for outside organisation users and how to give permission to access for outside users to distribution groups?

    • @AndyMaloneMVP
      @AndyMaloneMVP  Год назад +1

      A distribution group is just a contact list. You cannot assign permissions. Create a mail enabled security group :-)

    That is again a great, clear and helpful video.
    Many thanks for that 👍
    I have only one question: how can I change the default domain address (and replace it by another I manage within O365) for a Microsoft 365 group created in Microsoft O365 admin centre?
    Thank you in advance.

    Groups are Teams, Teams are Groups, yet somehow at my organization, I'm a member of a ton of teams, but only see 3 of those Teams in Groups.
    Is this something I can control, or do I need the admins to fix it? I have the permissions to create teams. I think I can also create groups...

    • @AndyMaloneMVP
      @AndyMaloneMVP  Год назад +1

      All to do with permissions. Plus you won't see them in groups, depending on where they were created.

      No they will not be able to create Teams. This policy may also add to admin workload.

    Hi, Can you please tell me if we just send email to 365 group email id ?which created while creating M365 group. I have created M365 group but not showing its email id in our email listing when I compose new email.

    • @AndyMaloneMVP
      @AndyMaloneMVP  6 месяцев назад

      Checked group properties to ensure that you can receive email from external sources and also check to see if the email address is not hidden. also, what license are you using? If it’s a low end license, this could be causing issues.
