Next you'll want to sync those OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams files for easier and off-line access. Here's how to do it: ruclips.net/video/4lJXVIIwGHY/видео.html
Microsoft should hire you. My eyes are bloodshot from all the reading of MS documentation to make sense of this, yet you communicated everything I needed in under 8 minutes.
Totally agree! I've been searching everywhere to find a way for an external client to upload or share a biweekly, file with a specific employee in my organization. Can I simply have my employee share a OneDrive folder with that client?
I totally agree as well. I have been searching for someone to explain onedrive and sharepoint in simple and concise terms for the admistrator point of view.
Lmao yes. Fuck microsoft for making things so goddamn confusing and unintuitive. Imagine being so bad, others make videos just to talk about how to use you.
That was a really clear and straightforward explanation. I can't believe it took me months to find someone who can explain the relationship between OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams. Thanks Matt!
I’ve watched a few videos but yours is the one that really made me understand why to use OneDrive vs SharePoint. The permissions nightmare and employees leaving the company really put things into perspective! Thank you!
YOUR'RE OUR MICROSOFT ADVISER AND OUR PROBLEM SOLUTIONER, ALL THING ARE IN MIND MAYBE CLEAR WHEN I WATCH YOUR EXPLANATION ON SHAREPOINT WITH ONEDRIVE. KEEP IT CLEAR OUR CONFUSION ALL TIME, THANKS A LOT AND BIG FAN FROM INDIA......😘😘😘
I work for a department of the Canadian Federal Government and for years (ok, decades) we've been on the basic Windows/ personal and shared network drives/ RDIMS combination. Since the pandemic hit and everyone was forced to work from home virtually overnight things have changed. We've recently implemented OneDrive to replace our personal drives, Sharepoint will be implemented in this fiscal year to replace group drives/Intranet and eventually I think GCDocs to replace RDIMS (records and document information management system). My team is varied in age and technological experience and tomorrow I've got to give a tutorial on OneDrive. I'm going to share your video as a great overview of the whole system, and I'm definitely following you for further help. The "Dummies" series of books is my go-to for reference so I'll be looking for your guide on O365! Thank you for providing clear and relatable guidance.
FINALLY!! Thank you, Matt! This is the BEST explanation of how OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams work together. I've been struggling to find files since our working group started using Teams. THANK YOU!
The reason why Im here because my supervisor asked me on Teams today which one should I use: O-Drive or Sharepoint. I answered O-drive cos I dont what a Sharepoint is, until I searched the meaning of it on RUclips and it came it out your video. It all makes sense to me in 7 mins only. I’ve already voted and I could reverse that. Thanks for this
8 minutes to understand EVERYTHING I watched tons of videos on the subject but yours is just a MASTER PIECE ME,WE,US at 07:01 is absolutely brilliant! The infographic are amazing,
Superb summary, thank you Matt. One thing I've noticed is that moving files from OneDrive to SharePoint seems slower than expected, even for very small files - uploading direct to either is quick but moving is slow, not sure if you've noticed this too. The only wee extra nugget I can think of adding is around adding a shortcut to a SharePoint site to OneDrive for ease of access.
Thank you!!! I'm a 1 man shop and I was trying to figure out why I needed all of these other tools... I really don't. Lol. Gives me peace knowing I'm not missing out on something.
i have webinars to advertise to staff…from what you just said “share point “ seems like another option. You explain complex information so clearly! thank you &
Finally! A short and succinct video that covers off on the fundamental differences and just ets the message across, for non-techs. Great job! Just one suggestion. Me, We, Us could be better termed as Me, We, Others or Me, We, Them. The difference between We and Us is too vague or narrow. Others or Them gives a better indication of the publishing nature of SharePoint communication sites.
After having a 600+ person company moving from GSuite to 365, this is the first video I've found that was clear and easy to digest. Sharing with others to ensure they don't waste the time I did to find it...and you've got an enjoy troy sign in the background! That made my day being born and raised in Troy, NY! Thanks Matt, awesome work!
Given your last name, I have a feeling a family member of yours was my babysitter back in the day. Unless there are lots of Duffs in Troy. Which I don't think there are!
Small world...your video was just shared with our entire team in advance of the 365 training we're about to get into. Wish we had hired you to train the team here
As you suggest greatly, we use those tools this way. One more use case though : To collaborate with somebody (or many) i usually dont collaborate with, so i dont create a team for that, i send him the file via private chat. Once the file is done i move it to the right location. Those guidance has to be put into balance with org that control who can create teams, sharepoint. The process of creating a collaboration space being slower, people might use teams chat more for collaboration (one drive at the back)
Thank you very much for this Conzept verview without Marketing-BS. I feel relieved and happy to get a little more understanding how this should be used. THNK YOU
About to delve into SharePoint for the first time. This video was great to explain where it all sits - loved the bit about Me = Onedrive, We = Teams, Us - SharePoint. Sometimes the simplest explanation nails it in one. Thanks.
Many thanks. We have just taken the leap into 365 at work and this is a great way of explaining the cross over. Is it just me or did anyone else think of the film Babe and "Baa, Ram, Ewe" every time you said "Me, We, Us."
Dear Mr. Jumpto: Critique - Nice and clear/clean explanation for those who are already in the arena, I needed basics. Your audio needs more "upfront" and less "hardness of the walls" to stop the reverb. Put up bats and use a lapel mic up closer to your mouth. You may also need a non-usb mic that is used for professional audio along with some additional equipment to feed the computer. I do like your studio, however because it is real. Respectfully, NHG
Very clear explanation, and easy to understand the relationships. I love the “Me, We, Us”, that was a perfect way to end this video. Thank you so much sharing!
This is exactly what I was looking for - a clear and precise explanation with video of how Teams, One Drive and SharePoint works with documents. I have been struggling to get my head wrapped around this! Thanks so much :) Jumpto365
Have had a tough time trying to differentiate between the two applications and you've just made a very easy way for me to understand in your explanation. Thanks
I'm planning to move my company to the Microsoft ecosystem and quite perplexed by the subtle differences between the two apps. Crazy that your seven-minute explanation provides more clarity than the official sources. Many thanks!
Thats because Microsoft want you to have either an msp manage this for you or have someone internal that has a background in supporting Microsoft systems. If office365 is setup or used properly its a nightmare. This will also cause them a headache
Just what I was after, a clearly explained video of how this Teams, One Drive and Sharepoint works with documents...duly sharing with us oldies at work who are struggling to get our heads around it all!! Thanks so much :)
This is great thank you! With my ADHD being as severe as it is, the way this is explained is very helpful. I couldn't for some reason open the two documents, but I took screen shots. I tried in Safari and Edge, but couldn't open. Thank you for this video :)
I was recently tasked with explaining best practice use of Microsoft O365. After much research I created a powerpoint that essentially has the same keypoints that you're highlighting. I wish I had found your video first!
Very helpful. Maybe a "day in the life" of using Onedrive, Sharepoint thru Teams would be cool--a working scenario that could be used to train those just getting into the whole process--a best practices for a good common use model. Maybe?
This is so helpful! Permission to use your video for my presentation on basic understanding of these apps, SharePoint and Onedrive. And send this link to my colleagues for reference. Thank you and God bless!
Brilliant video. Recently had a discussion with our team and no one seemed to understand the relationship or when to use one drive or share point. Your video will be come a guide for us. Thank you
Just an FYI, and I know it's frowned upon but you can map a SharePoint site as a drive. It seems network speeds are throttled by Microsoft which makes loading the files kinda slow and power queries run a little slow too. This reduced speed is documented on many forums but waaay better than navigating the site in a browser. Another option is to go to a document folder on the SharePoint site and at the top there is a button you can click to sync certain folders to your onedrive sync client, then files are available locally for faster access.
Good explanation. It was useful and I appreciate it. One small suggestion would be to put up some acoustic insulation foam in your office. There is a bit of a reverb present when listening with headphones.
Very good video for explaining these things. We do not yet have exchange online therefore we are not yet utilizing OneDrive. This will help explain when we are ready and make that move, to our staff as when it's a good idea to use what, when. Thank you!
Very useful video Matt. I explain this to Team Members and clients but will now use your video and have a discussion following the view of your video. Keep up the good work and thank you.
Great, succinct communication with rich information. Thanks a bunch! Now off to how can you apply permissions to Teams documents like you can in SharePoint. For example, allowing a user to access Team but denying him/her access to specific folders in the Documents section. I can do this in SharePoint, but scratch my head in getting these granular permissions in Teams.
I love oneDrive, but have been slower to adopt SharePoint (simply because I have had no reason for it). One thing that I have done to make the transition simpler is to go to my team document library and sync that folder location within my oneDrive. For me it's the best of both worlds. Great video, thank you.
Your video was great and a lot of details to jump into some specific point. Very good organization of mentions, sections and the right side of the vide with step by step of the section...very nice, Matt! Great!
Truly, I think you nailed this! That was a solid explanation, your graphics were very helpful, and I'm now sharing this with my nerdy MS friends. Great content and thanks for the help!

Finally! Finally, someone who explains this OneDrive/SharePoint/Teams muddle in plain English! I actually understood everything he said. Thank you!
The only clear video about this I found until now.
"Me, We, Us." Such a simple way to remember! Very easy to understand your videos Thanks man!

OneDrive - One Person
Sharepoint/Teams - sharing + teams

"Me, We, Us". Absolutely brilliant. You have a gift for communication.
Showing videos like this to the RIGHT people are key to making organizations grow healthier.
This was the best explanation ever. Thank you. Me we us
