    Hi Andy
    First of all its very good there specialist who want to share his knowledge, thank you for that :)
    Concerning Onedrive I have one very annoying thing and that is One Drive in a terminal server (Citrix) environment.
    We have users who work with a laptop on remote sites and at office via Wyse Terminal. Dont ask why they ain't using there laptop :))
    The annoying this is that its not possible (so far I know) to disable synchronisation by policy if logged on the terminal server.
    Take care.

    How do you delete a folder with subfolders/files without being prompted that there's a hold preventing it because there's a hold?... I've deleted retention and dlp policies and checked in the next day with no luck. The only workaround atm is deleting it via synced windows explorer version of OneDrive

      There is often a lot of confusion between OneDrive and SharePoint document libraries. The latter is what you get when you create a Microsoft, 365 group or a Microsoft team OneDrive for business is personal storage, think of it like a home drive. You get this when you create a user and licensed them with either a Microsoft 365 business plan or enterprise plan. Beyond that if you create a user with a home or student plan there is no control over the account. Generally you don’t play around with permissions in OneDrive for business. However, you could create a group or team add the uses to it and then configure the permissions. If you look on my RUclips channel, I have done a number of videos on this subject. You can find them in the SharePoint playlist. Beyond that you may want to take a look at learn.microsoft.com as this contains all the training and documentation materials for Microsoft 365. I hope this helps, Andy

    If it's possible, how can we set up a team ( NOT Teams ) shared one drive? It needs to be owned by the group and not by a person and access to it needs to be assigned to and AD or AAD group. I can't find any tutorials because the results come back as though I want to add one drive TO teams ( the application ).

    • @AndyMaloneMVP
      @AndyMaloneMVP  Год назад

      Don’t confuse OneDrive with SharePoint document libraries. The latter is storage for a group, or a team. To create this without generating a Microsoft team. You can either just use a Microsoft 365 group or you can create a dedicated team site in SharePoint, the team site is essentially a shared website and this includes SharePoint document libraries that you can then allocate accordingly.

    Hi - thank you... My OneDrive has started putting items into my desktop pc recycle bin this week (it went crazy a few days ago and its driving me mad) - When I tell One drive via Settings /Choose folders, not to show a particular folder (un-sync that folder), the contents of that folder are also going into my pc recycle bin, which I don't want... I've used MS support but their replies are too techy for me.... I'm going through a few of your videos... but is there a solution to this sudden problem. I like to keep my recycle bin empty to help keep my computer as free as possible but I'm terrified of deleting these files, and I just don't want this happening. Any ideas? x

    • @AndyMaloneMVP

      Thanks. In terms of backup. Microsoft maintains approximately 10 copies of your data split between two data centres. If you desperately need to backup to an additional source then you could use a 3rd party product such as Veam.

    Hi Andy. I haven't see the video yet since I am enjoying my time at the beach. I will check the video later this day. I have a sync issue from SharePoint to OneDrive. From SP there is an option to create a shortcut to OneDrive. But when I try to do this from a site there is an error 'your It admin does not allow to sync this'. Even if I try to sync a folder within the site. I tried to check the permissions but they seems to be fine. Perhaps know what to do? For now greetings from Greece.

    Question on OneDrive for Business and the OneDrive Android app...
    I have a client who uses his phone camera to take photos that he uses in his business. In the Android app settings he has Camera upload turned on. When you click on settings/photos you can see all the photos he's taken from different Android phones. But... In the OneDrive web app I cannot find any place to view, work with the photos that have been uploaded. So my question is... Where are they?
    Thanks in advance for any help you can provide...

    I disabled OneDrive on my computer because I didn't want Microsoft literally stealing my files. I found out that it was moving my files from my computer to their cloud service without my knowledge or my permission - that is theft. Why can't they just copy them? Then it would be a good backup service and also also me to use those files on other devices.

    • @AndyMaloneMVP
      @AndyMaloneMVP  Год назад

      Interesting. I would visit Learn.microsoft.com and read up on how exactly OFB works. You can control what files are replicated.

    • @starker1457
      @starker1457 Год назад

      They aren't being replicated, they are being moved! I was in Tech Support for 30 years until I retired a few months ago. I remember when the POS Vista starting moving files to the Virtual Store without telling anyone, but at least they moved them to your own computer. Users of our software after "upgrading" to Vista started calling us that their data files had disappeared instead of being in our subdirectory where always had been before. Then we stumbled onto the fact that the UAC was moving them. Now OneDrive is doing the same thing except it moves (steals) the files to their cloud computers.

    • @starker1457

      Hi, I am suprised that you haven't but would appreciate if you did find out what they are thinking (or not thinkking). Also, maybe you can find out why I couldn't not update to build 22621. I did an internet search for the error message and I was not alone. I spent more than 2 hours with 2 different Microsoft Tech Support reps on chat and had to reinstall windows because they could not update it either. I have been using Windows since version 3.1 and have never had a problem upgrading before. You would think that Microsoft would know how to create installers by now.
