I am a software engineer ( not a game dev ) and I really appreciate the fact that you mention tech stack being used when mentioning certain games. I understand it takes additional effort on your end but it is really satisfying to learn technical details of the games as well. Thank you!
one indie you might not of heard of is Ascendance the game has a solo dev who used to be a stellaris modder and it looks insane, also the dev said he wants to "attempt" a demo by the end of the year. also grey eminence is currently on hold because of funding
last game that's been somewhat similar was phantom doctrine but it was more of an x-com clone coated with espionage themes and mechanics. ever since i've been waiting for something similar to come out. slow paced and detailed spy games are quite a niche genre, everybody wants to play action loaded call of duties, but never a pencil pusher planning and executing those operations
Sacred Suns seems very "Dune" but even more so it reminds me of an old RPG setting called Fading Suns. It was very much inspired by Dune to begin and even had a game on PC early 2000s called "Emperor of the Fading Suns".
Kaiserpunk reminds me of Caesar II, my favorite of the franchise where you had to care about your main city within the province you're playing, and still manage the province as well, with sometimes attack from tribes within or some military force from the outside. Fights you'd deal with your legions first, and if failed, your city had to defend itself.
Gates of Pyre may not be a grand strategy game in the traditional sense, but it's definitely one of the upcoming RTS games to watch out for! The combination of large-scale battles, strategic faction diversity, and the Ascendant system brings a fresh take to the genre. If you're into real-time strategy, it's a must-keep on your radar for 2024
Field of glory kingdoms > falling frontier to be honest. I like grey eminence though. The rest of the games listed here are just potentials, nothing released yet.
I meamt fragile exiatence. Last two on the list are just meh. It had been added due to being in space. The alliance of the sacred suns is more interesting though.
New to the channel and I'm impressed with the number of games that I have not seen on other well known channels. So I'm subbing and looking forward to seeing more. There are a number of games here that I am definitely going to follow. I've had Fallen Frontier in my wishlist for ages now and I'm happy to see Hooded Horse is developing some great looking talent. I've stopped buying Paradox games because of the DLC policy, so it's great to see options outside of this major publisher.
Glad to have you aboard mate! Yes we are trying to delve deep and find the value in maybe overlooked or underappreciated gems a lot of the time. Feel free to jump in the discord too, we talk more there on these things. Thanks for watching - Tom
What is the name of the song that is playing during Age of History 3? Starts around 7:20 . Heard it lots of times, but never managed to Shazam it. Thanks in advance :)
lol, usually on these type "upcoming" videos I might wishlist 2 or 3. First time I've wanted to (and did, lol) wishlist EVERYTHING. If I had to narrow to just one though, gotta say ARA looks particularly compelling.
Most useful! Though I will be calmly watching them develop; there are so many great games, at least in this way that a good strategy can be played for hundreds of hours... at least! 😂 So I'll stay in the Old World for now, building a safe base to expand from there! 🤠
The ants game is the only one that's interesting to me , when you have played grand strategy games for 25 years they are just kind of the same after a while.
Me, the idiot, looking only at the time tags and trying to find the Esipocracy game all over the internet instead of just looking at the damn screen at 11:42 =P
Only reason I dont find space 4x games that exciting. They all seem the same and haven't seen any get close to beating Stellaris. I just wish I found one with decent tactical battle mechanics like Endless Legend or Age of Wonders. Fall Frontier looks brilliant though.
I was pretty excited for Grey Eminence until I looked into it. From what I can tell, it seems like this is their first game, or at least their first grand strategy game and it just seems like such a HUGE project that.... well if it ever comes out I'll keep an eye out on it but I'm not expecting much? It's been in closed alpha for about a year and I've heard nothing about it so... idk. ARA look interesting, I'm all for games pushing the civilization norm, but iirc, that's the game where if you don't make enough points in an era you can get removed from the game, which at least for me is a big negative. And of course Falling Frontier I'm super pumped for.
Great breakdown mate, I am going to try speak with the Grey Eminence devs as it really intrigues me, would love to get my hand son it and make a video for your guys - Tom
@@LTGamingRUclips That would be awesome! The only real info I'm seeing is from their Steam Discussions which... I suppose we should always take with a grain of salt, but you're pretty much the only youtuber I've seen mention the game which is a little worrying. The last news post as well seems to be them saying the game is paused until they can get funding, and the next update will when they have gotten the funding. Which posted on May 29th, 2023...
Ara history's untold. Oh this looks interesting could be a new take on 4x historical strategy sandboxish games. See's immortal leaders like civ* Nevermind its a clone again. Humankind didn't teach us anything i guess.
How was project Caesar (EU5) not on this list? There is more info out for it than that jank looking grey eminence :P Another one I would have hoped to be on the list is: Sins of a Solar Empire 2
Weird list Some of the games like Falling Frontier are not grand strategies. Age of History 3 looks to have cheap AI art... And Gilded Destiny is missing from the list...

Espiocracy is my #1 pick on this list. It looks incredible.
Indeed it does!

Eu5, Civ 7 and AOH3 all coming in the near future, what a time to be alive
Never heard of AOH before.
Thanks
It's the Eu4 of mobile games @@PappaTom-ub3ht
Seeing civ 7 coming out makes me realize i am old but not obsolete 🤭
Sacred Suns seems very "Dune" but even more so it reminds me of an old RPG setting called Fading Suns. It was very much inspired by Dune to begin and even had a game on PC early 2000s called "Emperor of the Fading Suns".
We love that game! and great shout. Luke actually reviewed EOFS a while back - Tom
EoFS is getting enhancments soon on steam and then GoG.
One of favourite Strategy games of all time. Hope they improve it
Grey Eminence seems similar in style to Gilded Destiny, except the latter going for a different era
Kaiserpunk reminds me of Caesar II, my favorite of the franchise where you had to care about your main city within the province you're playing, and still manage the province as well, with sometimes attack from tribes within or some military force from the outside. I think doing all 4 at once the whole video with 4 audios would’ve been the best most incomprehensible video

Ara History Untold looks great! I've played every single Civ game, so finding something that challenges that game is a tough nut to crack.
Seems like with lists like this my Wishlist will never stop expanding! 😅
We wont stop! haha
Don't forget to explore before you expand. 😆
So excited for Kaiserpunk
Glad to get this one out for you all!
Interesting games overall, thanks! I expected to see _Field of Glory: Kingdoms_ in that list but whatever, it's already in my wishlist anyway :)
Fair enough, we may feature that game in the near future, we are undecided - Tom

I want a remaster for Birthright: The Gorgon's Alliance
And then a remake.

Awesome job, wish listed quite a few.
Cheers buddy!
Great list guys!!

Hey man never seen your videos before but stumbled on this one, awesome stuff, subscribed!
Welcome aboard mate, great to have you! - Tom
May I ask what version of Samuel Barber's Adagio for String that is which begins at 7:20 or respectively with the chapter Age Of History 3?
I am using the version from the Homeworld OST, one of my fav gaming tracks of all time - Tom

Kaiserpunk but based on the modern world. That would be 🔥🔥
Agreed!
What is the name of the song that is playing during Age of History 3? Starts around 7:20 . Heard it lots of times, but never managed to Shazam it. Thanks in advance :)
Imperium Galactica II from Digital Reality was also an underrated game.
Kaiserpunk aestethics are just top tier, as well as falling frontier

I'd love to see someone update Lightspeed and Hyperspeed.
7:20 one does not play Agnus Dei as background music without showing Homeworld my friend
Empire of the Ants, Alliance of the Sacred Suns look interesting
Agreed! They look pretty great - Tom
You will find Gates of Pyre super interesting too, its one of the top RTS games on my list
That Ants game looks like it has huge fun potential!
Yeh! same feeling.
Perhaps very educational as well, like I'd let my son play it

Typo for Espiocracy in jump label are wrong.
What does the LT stand for in “LT gaming”?
LT = Luke & Tom, our names, we are two brothers who run the channel :) - Tom
Adagio for Strings, always a nice track, nicely matching your content. Loved it. thanks
Thanks for listening, glad you enjoyed! - Tom
Interesting video! 💎💪🏽😉
Grey Eminence and AOH3 looking fire 🔥
Fields of Glory : Kingdoms is missing
We covered this previously!

Is Alliance of the Sacred Suns the spiritual successor to Emperor of the Fading Suns?
