@Cameron James thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process atm. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
My college roommate back in the early 60's bay area was a guitarist. He did studio work for a lot of bay area bands of the day, eagles, grateful dead, blue cheer, neil young were a few. He found a 1935 martin for sale at a guitar store in Palo Alto. We didn't have much money in those days and I remember selling almost everything we had to get the 3800 dollars it cost. ( a fortune in those days ). It was worth it just to see the look on his face when we got it home. He made good money with it, so he managed to pay most of it back in a couple of years. I told him to forget what I'd given him. It was good enough to hear him practice on the front porch with it :>) I'm pretty sure he still has it and still plays it. With love and respect from the west: DeMontana
That’s incredible I lived in Palo Alto ,and there was only one guitar store - this was before Gryphon - a friend of mine happened to own the store. It was in Menlo Park actually. I think it was called Guitars Unlimited ? I’m having a brain fart. Bill Courtial was the owner. Bill was a jazz player. All the guys that worked there were jazz players. I also got some sessions out of that. Steven Whiting wrote jungles. Vince Gauraldi ,and Don Grusin were playing in the area. The point being ,and I’m talking 1970. Guitars were dirt cheap as opposed to today. I sold my 1962-3 Martin D 28 for I believe $250-$300, bought a D 45 ( not a better dreadnut than than the 28, just more bling )
And every time you walk by it will say, "Play with me." Every time you play its voice will be calling out to you, "Write a song with me." I know because mine calls every day now for 57 years. How wonderful Mary!
I played an OM-28 in a shop in California last year and fell in love with it immediately. I finally managed to get to a place where I can drop the money on one and so I placed my order for it earlier today. So unbelievably excited for it to arrive in a few days!
Hi Mary! I'm a guitar smeller from way back myself. I have a 1995 Martin D-18 and it STILL smells great and sounds better with age. Seriously, I am happy for you and your new guitar. I love your playing and this guitar compliments your beautiful voice perfectly. I am now a subscriber to your channel and wish you the best with your music. Thank you for making the world a better place with your music Mary!
Martin guitar fan here. Bought a brand new D-18 in 1972. Yeah, I’m older than dirt. 68 and counting. I’ve bought and sold at least 20 Martins over the years. I’ve owned an OM-28v. Yours is a beauty! I like to call the OM-28 “the Swiss army knife “ of acoustic guitars. It can handle any genre of music. Don’t forget to humidify and keep it in its case in dry climate. It needs to be fed to keep it from cracking. It will last you a lifetime and beyond. If you think it sounds nice now, wait until it fully opens up in about 5-7 yrs. It was comical when you sniffed the sound hole. We all do it. There’s a RUclipsr named Aaron Short who sells tee shirts that read “sound hole sniffer”. Just saying, if you want to join the club, check him out. Just another die hard Martin fan. Be well and stay safe. .
Hello Mary, I own a Martin D-35 that's older than you. I generally don't make quick decisions but after viewing this video I immediately ordered an OM-28e/LR Baggs. Thanks for the review. I hope you get a commission.
Congratulations on your OM 28 e...the more you play it the more it grows in sound and responsiveness! I Bought my Martin D-28 in 2007...new! Had a professional luthier set it up to my “low” preferences and make and install new bone nut and bone saddle and install bone bridge pins. Beautiful balance, tone, resonance and sustain. When playing it you hear and actually feel the warm vibrations! Play it almost every day. The sound board has really opened up over the years and it is such a pleasure to play!
Beautiful guitar! Of course it’s a Martin. Your joy in owning such a guitar is clearly evident on your face and in your enthusiastic description. Fortunately I know that feeling as well. As the owner of a 2008 Martin M-38, I am always in awe of the fact I get to own such an amazing instrument that speaks to my very soul. We Martin owners are truly blessed.
Mary, I am the fortunate owner of 2 Martins (and 1 Gibson) but neither of which are an OM-28e (I play dreads). You play beautifully and this guitar matches your voice so well! I can only imagine how you felt when it showed up. You've been an inspiration to me for beginning to write my own songs. Thank you for your music!
I've had my OM28 for about 30 years now. Every year it improves. It's sounding absolutely beautiful and I've never had anything done to it. You have many years of playing a beautiful guitar ahead of you. Enjoy. I bought mine in the eighties from Chris Martin as he was doing a UK promotion tour which included Norwich. What a great evening that was. I remember him saying "when you buy a new Martin that's the worst it's going to sound." He was right. It just keeps improving.
Mary, I have always loved Martin guitars as I grew up in Liverpool England at the time of the Beatles, but I was taken by folk music (the folk revival). I was a massive Bob Dylan and Donavan fan, both of whom played Martins. I emigrated to Canada at the age of seventeen in 1966 and found another local folk artist, Gordon Lightfoot who was also a talented singer song writer, playing a Martin. I attended the local folk clubs in Toronto at what was then called the Village, where all the big folk artists visited on a rotational basis. In 1986 I took up guitar as a hobby and bought a Martin D35 and I learned to play many of the songs written and by my folk heroes. As I am older now and have developed some osteoarthritis in my finger joints I needed a guitar that would make it easier for me to continue playing. I chose to buy the Martin Dreadnaught Junior, which has a shorter scale length and a 1.75 inch nut width. I play it with light gauge strings and for a smaller guitar has an amazing sound. If I could afford it and still had the dexterity in my fingers I would buy and play a few more Martin models of different shapes and tone wood varieties. They are all amazing.
Just started playing after 50 years (bucket list item), and got a Martin Road Series GPCRSGT, and I love it, and having a blast learning to play again.
I too have a Martin, a dcpa4. Always wanted a Martin and finally bought one at 49. Just love the smell of it! Sounds weird but it's true. Have fun with your new Martin. Always love to hear you play!
I live four miles away from Martin Guitar in Nazareth Pennsylvania. The quality of Martin Guitars is legendary. I just wish I had enough money to get my own. They are up in the buying a car range. It’s a stupid dream on my part because I have struggled for years and years to learn how to play. So I guess it’s just like a beginner pianist wanting a grand piano. But hey, I’m not dead yet, so I’ll just continue to struggle. Rage against the dying of the light! As for my dream Martin Dreadnaught. For now and probably a long time, it will have to stay just that. A dream. So I will live a little vicariously through you and your beautiful new shiny Martin. Make some music with it. God bless you and stay safe!
You made a wise choice with that guitar. You can't beat a Martin. I come from a bluegrass family and have been around them my whole life. My uncle has a 1936 Martin worth around 40k, lol.
Best acoustic guitars ever made! I had a friend back in the seventies who had a Martin D-28. Her career had entered a slight downward spiral for a short bit, and when we were walking home one night from one of her concerts in Winnipeg, Canada we were in the middle of a bridge and she suddenly turned in a fit of depression and tossed it into the river below. It's been fifty years and the memory of that moment still brings a shudder down my spine.
45 years ago I was looking at a Martin and bought a beautiful Ovation. Which sounded incredible. The difference in price was about $350 at the time. I am still in love with the Ovation 45 years later. Although there are many times I wish I had bought the Martin. The ovation still sounds great but I have to wonder how awesome the Martin would sound after 45 years. I should add that always played an accoustic guitar and only bought my first electric about 10 years ago.
It's not too late to get the Martin!! In times like these we can't have regrets. I thought "I'll never be good enough for a Martin" Mywife bought me my first.... I loved it.... and practised more..... have since purchased 2 more Martins..... next will be this model. C'mon.... you know you want to. Message me when you buy it and tell me how good it sounds and feels and how good it makes you feel. :)
@@bearlop Nooooo! Say it anin't so!!! Have to admit... I have come close several times to getting a TayTay!! But it felt like I was cheating on my wife.... I just couldn't do it!!
I have a Martin D-28s I bought back in 1968. For some reason, I decided not to attend college that particular quarter and wound up with the cash for school burning a hole in my pocket. A friend told me about this fabulous guitar he'd found in a music store in Atlanta and wanted to show it to me. So we went to see it, and I fell in love with it. Solid spruce top and solid rosewood back and sides,, with slotted head and Grover tuners. It has the extra large body and sounds gorgeous with Silk and Steel strings when played finger style, which I do exclusively. I taught myself to play and hated picks and loved Paul Simon's early guitar work, so I developed my own style of playing with thumb and three fingers. This D-28s has the wide neck, so it's perfect for finger picking. I was never performance oriented, but my friends often asked me to play and sing for them, and I wound up playing and singing in a couple of coffee houses, mostly folk songs and a few I wrote. The most joy I had from it came from sitting on a ledge of the stairwell into the kitchen and playing for my mother as she worked in the kitchen (that room had great acoustics). She loved my guitar playing, so I gave her many hours of impromptu concerts. The greatest compliment I ever received was many years after I was busy rearing a family and had little time to play, I asked my father upon his retirement if there was anything I could do for him. He thought about it a few moments and asked if I would record some of my songs for him to listen to. Up to that time, I don't think he had ever said anything about my music, so I had not known whether he liked it or not. That Martin is just so beautiful to listen to (and look at and smell) and feel, it's hard not to pick it up and play it. I am delighted you have found your Martin OM-28e, a guitar that nicely complements your rich voice and inspires your writing. May the joy of your relationship grow ever fuller and more rewarding through many years of mutual devotion.
Today I got my first Martin and it's exactly this model... I am utterly delighted with it so far. Apart from being beautiful the tone is just out of this world, and the most exciting thing is knowing the sound will only improve with age! Wonderful playing and singing too! Hope you're still enjoying it just as much 😃😃
loooooovely. jealous. also I love when people talk about HOW they get into the state where they can write songs. THANK you. I have a sigma made in the martin factory. it's my baby.
Just got my om28 and I can't put it down. It begs to be played!!! Sounds so smooth...balanced, overtones are amazing. Talk about "music between the notes"!!! Can't wait to hear what it sounds like a few years from now. This one will stay with me until I ***.
I have 2 Martins -- a 1963 00018 (very similar shape & size as the OM28) bought from an estate sale in 1975 beaten up and cracked. The Martin factory repaired it in 1976 and it has perfect since. More recently, I bought a 1979 D12-28 which is a well cared, but not perfect -- its got patina but plays and sounds fantastic. I love the sound of Martins ever since I was a kid listening to bluegrass in Virginia. The sound is great from both. They have music in them and its my job to bring it out -- I don't have much time to do that at the moment, but I will in time. Love your videos.
Mary, congrats on the new baby. So great to be truly in love with the look, the sound the touch and the smell of Martin. I live close to the factory in Pennsylvania and take frequent tours just to re-experience the smell. Everything about that place is like magic. You are completely wonderful and very deserving of such a beauty. So is.your Martin, Cheers!
I love my HD35 Martin that I bought new in 1979 it still looks new and the sound it puts out is awesome it has the blond front and the 3piece Rosewood back it’s a Beauty
When I bought my CEO 7 a few years ago the first thing I did when I opened the case was to pick it up and smell it😅 ( Mmmmm...smells like fresh Martin). Glad I'm not the only one. The best part is the guitar sounds more spectacular with each passing year. Makes me smile every time I play it.
Years ago I took an OM-1 down off the wall. They were new at the time and not all that expensive. I remember noodling with it a while saying, "oh my you have a pretty voice." Yes I fell in love. For reasons I won't go into I put it back and have regretted it ever sense. I hope it has had a great time and is still making beautiful music. Now I have an X series dreadnought. Not the most expensive guitar I've owned but the best playing one I've had except probably for the OM. You play beautifully and have a beautiful instrument to play on. And stopping in a music store can in fact be hazardous to your wealth. I want to own them all.
@Jon Oz I have an OM21 reimagined - really nice. But now I'll still get the ooo28 reimagined. I use OM21 for fingerpicking, strumming and jazz style playing. The shortscale of the 00028 will give you more bass - this really kicks in for bluesy fingerstyle and also fingerpicking. I compared them 1:1 and some songs sounded better on the one some on the other. But both are really top. When deciding between OM21 and OM28 I would go with the 21 as it is just less bling and cheaper.
@Jon Oz I had a long time to make a decision because a Martin was simply too expensive! I'd go to the shop I trusted (McCabe's in L.A.) and the #1 first decision was body size, what felt good in my arms. I thought if it doesn't feel comfortable, I'm not going to want to play it. I knew I didn't want a dreadnaught since I'd had one before and it always felt a little too big, especially the depth. I tried the 0,00,& 000 sizes and the 000 just felt right. The real issue came down to 000 or OM since the bodies are the same. The store didn't have both at the same time which was a bummer! The other big question was wood selection, mahogany or rosewood. I assumed I wanted mahogany because of its rounded, warm tone. Once I played rosewood though, there was no going back. I fell in love with the sound instantly. Finally, the store got a 000-28 and an OM-28 at the same time! I found a quiet room in the back of the store late one evening and played both, side by side, for an hour. The 000-28 just spoke to me more. So, I realized that once you get the size right and the type of wood right, it's then just a matter of which one speaks to you more. Volume wise (I play mostly chords) the 000-28 is plenty loud enough.
I started playing guitar in 1973 my dad had a Martin double-ought 18 I have a 1987 Martin hd-28 now it sounds beautiful I love your songs your voice and your style of playing
I've played every type of acoustic guitar I could get my hands on. Something about a Martin just sounds so good to me. Taylor's are nice and they have a unique sound too. For me though it has to be a Martin. Congrats on the new guitar!
I have a 1973 Martin D41 that I’ve had since the mid-80s. It’s recently received a refret and general TLC from the wonderful Dave King from Kingsclere, near Newbury. The tone is phenomenal. I know this because people comment on it. When I play it of course I can’t hear its full richness because I’m behind it. When playing we never get to hear our instrument face-on. Sometimes I just hold a chord, turn it towards me and listen to it resonating. Now of course I want an OM28e.
I am glad for you Mary, I just bought a Gibson 61 reissue and I sat around and smelled it, then looked at it, I sometimes wake up and go and sit by it, I know how you feel and as I say I am happy for you!
Nice guitar. I felt the excitement with you as you unpacked it! I finally found my Martin after searching for the past two years. I bought a second hand Martin 000-28 made in 1993. It sounds great! I hope you enjoy yours for many years! ❤️
Here's a simple clue. The guitar you fall in love with is the one that always sings back to you when you play it. By the way, you have a beautiful voice! :)
Had a D18 back in the '70's which I miss. Listening to this video I was struck by the subtlety, tone, projection and sheer musicality of the instrument. The Martin was okay, too. 😉
Mary, the OM-28 is also my preferred Martin model. It really is the classic Martin that most other acoustic guitars are based on-you can't go wrong with it. However, I was curious about your comment about plane travel with your guitar and having some issues getting permission to fly with it. Do you have any tips about flying with a guitar? You could probably do a video about this subject.
I think she’s talking about how airlines are notoriously bad at handling instruments, so a lot of musicians take their guitar as a carry on and I can imagine the people in seats next to them aren’t pleased
Daniel Stoddart I always travel with a guitar. In the US, a musical instrument legally can go in the overhead of an airliner, even though it it oversized, as long as there is room. I used to pay for early boarding to make sure there was room, until a gate person wanted me to gate check my D-28 even though I was entitled to take it as carry on. I had printed a copy of the applicable US law and showed it to her. Things started to escalate. She called her bosses and found that I was right, and rather sheepishly let me on. After that I bought a Voyage Air folding OM guitar, which goes in a foam backpack. I have had it all over the place, with no problems or issues. They wave me on, I put it in the overhead, much less grief. Rosewood guitars are, or were, another issue. You can easily find yourself being accused of being a rosewood smuggler! I had a notarized letter saying that my guitars only had pre-CITEs wood. Not an issue with the Voyage-Air, which is laminated mahogany.
I bought two Martin OM-28 guitars in the last 4 months. One is just like yours without the electric pickup. Great sound and playability. The other, which has become my favorite, is the OM-28 1931 Authentic. Words just don’t do it justice.
Hey Mary - Thank you! I have a Martin OM-28 Marquis which I have unforgivably been ignoring for the past few months - You have inspired to reach, open and play again. Bless you from fellow a Brit.
I'm not that partial to steel string (unless a 12 stringer), but am fortunate enough to have a Martin 00-28G in my collection along with an '82 vintage classical out of the Martin custom shop. It is hard to describe the experience of playing a top-end vintage Martin, other than it becomes a living thing...you feel as if you and the music have merged.
Recently bought an OM-42 and a D-35 both brand new and I love them. I know old martins are great, but there’s nothing like seeing it age and carry on through life with you. Like I tell people , I’m not glad to own a Martin I am proud 🥲 I am very fortunate to own two of these and do not take them for granted , I love them with all of my heart almost as much as I love how they make me feel
Oh I see what you did you changed it around so we'd think you were talking about the guitar but instead you were talking about the woman in the video talking about her guitar hahaha
2007 D-28 with professional luthier set-up (including low action, bone saddle, bone nut, bone pins and bone strap pegs”. Finger picker, mostly straight acoustic, occasionally removable sound hole pick-up. 12 gauge Martin elixir strings. Sustain, tone, playability and vibrations through your chest make you want to play it every day. I can tell you are really enjoying your 0M-28e. Your playing is beautiful.
I just started recently started playing guitar and the one I started with felt really hard to play and learn in. So I decided that I had to get a decent instrument to improve my experience and remove the guitar as a variable for my beginner difficulties. As such, I bought a Martin D-10e, and I couldn’t be happier. My experience improved 100 fold, and it’s a joy continuing my journey with that guitar. When I become much more proficient, I’ll upgrade to a higher end guitar, and the OM-28e is certainly one that I will look into. Let me also add that you have been an inspiration as I continue on this journey. You are an amazing player and I just hope to one day play half as well as you do.
Hi Mary, I am a big fan. I love all your videos. I would recommend that you arrange to visit the Martin Factory in Nazareth PA. You will be amazed, they give wonderful tours.
I live just outside Nazareth PA and the Martin tour is excellent. The precision crafts men and women are outstanding and friendly. They incorporate modern robotics along side human expertise. Also, make sure to visit the Martin museum to see some classics as well as beautiful works of inlay and mother of pearl, especially the da vinci model
Been smelling my D35 since I bought it in 2009! I find that I have to be careful when putting the guitar in and out of the case due to that metal edge that goes into itself.
I have a Martin D-16 Guitar Center model (like the D-16e but full dreadnaught depth. Sitka spruce top with Rosewood back & sides with a Fishman pickup. Sound is amazing as you would expect from a Martin. It is my go to guitar for Neil Young as his songs inspired me to get a Martin.
I feel the same way about my Martin, once you play it there is no substitute, I went from only playing my classical to now all tend to play is on the Martin. I t was lovely to meet you on line and hear your beautiful voice and guitar. Cheers!

I have a 1980 Martin HD-35 that I bought in 1985, when it was just a pup. We've been fast friends ever since. I love the way it sounds and the way it plays. The action is perfect, "plays like butter," friends have told me. Recently, I've been sniffing around smaller-bodied guitars that lend themselves more to finger-style playing, which is mainly what I do. Your video about acquiring your Martin OM-28e caught my eye, and made me want to try one out. I finally had a chance to do so a few weeks ago at a shop on California's Central Coast. It was everything I'd come to expect from your description and demonstration. Why I didn't plunk down $3,000-plus on the spot had to do with a) the action felt just a bit high (although I'm used to rather low, slightly-above-buzzy action with my HD-35); b) the shop is 200 miles from my home; and c) $3,000-plus is a lot to spend when you're not 100 percent sure. That said, next time I'm up there--and if that sweet little guitar is still available--I just may give in, due in part to your endorsement of it. So, thank you.

I’m thinking about getting myself the clapton signature !!! It’s itching me a lot !!! 🤣
Somehow I felt like you’ve talked the best things out of this Martin OM28, and very stunning playing, I personally enjoyed very much, thanks for the great work.
Mary...so happy to hear about your new guitar, a lovely Martin OM-28e acoustic. I'm very jealous as I too desire a Martin OM but for now I have to play my Martin X-series and my Martin 12 string. Still learning at 71 years old after deciding to learn guitar at the young age of 69. Everyday is an adventure as I progress. Best of luck to you with your young career. Hope you are enjoying Nashville and if you are ever in the East Tennessee area, Knoxville, I am sure you would fill the auditorium. Cheers!
The smell that you talk of hits so close to home, I'm on week 4 with my Brand New Martin J-40 and I've actually opened the case when I didn't even have time to play just to take in that smell. Sweet and reminiscent of possibly roses. The guitar is so much more than I ever dreamed it would be. It calls to my muse... Enjoy yours forever! Great playing, you sound fantastic...
Be careful with asking sales person to take down the way high up guitar for a strum and sniff. Got bit by an HD28 acquisition bug. Best sounding martin to me!!
@@paullanier8280 fantastic guitar, that one. I played the D28 and the D35 alongside the HD and found there to be no competition, though the back of the 35 sure is pretty.
@Guillermo. True!! When I bought this one, it sang to me and I finally had the sales guy play it thirty feet in front of me. Done !!! At that point, I payed the man. Twelve years later it still sings to the crowds. I did change the saddle. Now a pro takes a second pause to hear the voice. No one catches this install.
I have a 2004 D-35 that's amazing, but my mom's 1971 D-35 is the best sounding acoustic guitar I've ever played, and I've played some pre-war beauties in my time. Congrats on the guitar, I know it's a bit late but I love the small body Martins and I had to watch this video!
@@GundogJake The Standard series offers with the Fishman Aura VT Enhanced which is very simple. It was the some of the Performing Artist series that came with the Fishman F1 Aura+ that had that crazy complexity.
Eric Fisher yep, that’s what I have on my d18 retro. Love the guitar, easy battery changes and the sound. Not impressed with the lack of response from customer services though, so fixed the dry joint myself...
That moment where you open the case for the first time!......so special. It looks beautiful, and you play it so well. I reckon you’ll own it forever, and it will only get better with age.....enjoy!
Congratulations!!! Nothing like the feels from getting a new guitar. I have a D-18v that I waiting nearly 20 years to acquire. My best friend’s grandfather had a 1936 D-18, playing that guitar ruined me for playing anything but Martins, and I wouldn’t settle until I found a guitar that had the same feel.
I assume nine months later you're still happy about it? There's no purchase I regret less than my OM-28, even though I really couldn't afford it at the time, haha.
Went to the Martin Factory in Penn. Amazing artists creating wonderful instruments ... glad I went and ..... they let me play one at the end of the tour ...nice ...sounds great ... will you tour USA ??
Years ago I had an afternoon to kill during a conference in Philly so I drove out to Nazareth and toured the factory. Got to play the single most amazing dreadnought I've ever seen or heard - a D60 - maple back and sides. UNREAL. :D
I’m currently awaiting the arrival of this precise model…cannot wait to play it. I’ve played Taylor guitars for decades and am stoked to have a Martin.

Be well and stay safe.
.
Your feelings about this guitar mirror mine about my D-28. Nothing beats a Martin!
Just put mine on layaway! The second I played it, I knew it was the one!
Hello Mary, I own a Martin D-35 that's older than you. I generally don't make quick decisions but after viewing this video I immediately ordered an OM-28e/LR Baggs. Thanks for the review. I hope you get a commission.
Steve Margol How is it, are you still happy?
I bought an entry-level Martin two months ago and really love it.
So nice to hear your playing and see your enthusiasm! I own a Martin OM18 and OM28. They’re wonderful instruments and such a joy to play.
I have an om28 and I absolutely adore it. It's been my dream guitar... every time I play it I'm blown away. Definitely my lifetime guitar
Beautiful guitar and playing/singing. My dad gave me his "58 Martin years ago and it is a treasure and still sounds great!
I recently got a Martin 000X1AE. Not as upscale as your OM-28E, but I still love it. Action, tone, and playability are superb.
Love it! Looks and sounds like a great guitar. I have a D35 that's almost 35 years old. Yours will just keep getting better! Enjoy!
Martin OM-28e.. Ohhh My.. 💖 How beautiful!!
Damn

I've had the OMC-28E model since 2008 and love it. I thought I was the only one that smelt it! Ha Ha! Beautiful video.
I’m so glad you have a Martin. They are such fine guitars aren’t they? I have a 2017 D-28.
Oh wow, Mary becoming a Big Spender. Gorgeous and great sounding Martin.
That's a beautiful guitar. I've been drooling over a D-28, and hope to get one some day. Nothing sounds like a Martin.
Just do it, the money will eventually grow back.
Taylor K24ce way better imo
I have a Martin 00028 standard and blow me away every time i play it... Yours sound really beautiful
Mary, I don’t play guitar but I want to thank you for getting me excited about guitars
lets start playing!
John Davies hey do you still love it? I’ve been considering getting one of those for years and I think this year may be the year
Years ago I took an OM-1 down off the wall.
I bought the re-imagined 000-28 Martin six months ago and I'm totally in love with it.
Beautiful tones, beautiful guitar, beautiful singer, beautiful voice . . . it's a perfect fit for you. Thank you for sharing with us!
I am glad for you Mary, I just bought a Gibson 61 reissue and I sat around and smelled it, then looked at it, I sometimes wake up and go and sit by it, I know how you feel and as I say I am happy for you!
The Soul Of All Acoustic Guitars😍
9:25 A Dream Of Song, Voice and Feeling-I Love This Song!
Please, what is the name of this song?
Nice guitar. I felt the excitement with you as you unpacked it!
I finally found my Martin after searching for the past two years. I bought a second hand Martin 000-28 made in 1993.
It sounds great! I hope you enjoy yours for many years! ❤️
Here's a simple clue. The guitar you fall in love with is the one that always sings back to you when you play it. By the way, you have a beautiful voice! :)
The control you have while finger picking, especially in the intro to that song, is incredible.
I am generally a Taylor/Breedlove fan, but that is a fantastic sounding Martin. Very nice!
i'm not a musician, having said that, you are able to make the strings "speak", as if with words. impressed
I seem to find my self more in love with your voice than the guitar, both sound absolutely amazing :)
I have a Martin. OM-28 too. I have other acoustics but they don’t get played hardly at all now that the 28 is here lol. It’s the perfect guitar.
Jesus I got transported back to being 17 years old when you mentioned Thekla in Bristol
@@gkjs2003 I have the same issue with badly behaved children. A person with a guitar cannot bother me.
Glad to see you purchased an orchestra body guitar (om). You deserve every success that comes your way Mary. You seem such a lovely, talented person
I love my small-body Martin. Throw a set of Martin “Silk & Steel” strings on there and you will have the world’s prettiest sounding guitar.
I bought two Martin OM-28 guitars in the last 4 months. One is just like yours without the electric pickup. Great sound and playability. The other, which has become my favorite, is the OM-28 1931 Authentic. Words just don’t do it justice.
That new guitar face XD Is there a greater joy in life? Congrats! :D
Hey Mary - Thank you! I have a Martin OM-28 Marquis which I have unforgivably been ignoring for the past few months - You have inspired to reach, open and play again. Bless you from fellow a Brit.
Who else could imagine the smell when she opened that case? I love the smell of my Martin acoustic!
Very nice. That will sound great in 40-years, now you just have to wait.
Recently bought an OM-42 and a D-35 both brand new and I love them. I know old martins are great, but there’s nothing like seeing it age and carry on through life with you. Like I tell people , I’m not glad to own a Martin I am proud 🥲
I am very fortunate to own two of these and do not take them for granted , I love them with all of my heart almost as much as I love how they make me feel
She's beautiful, classy and sounds superb.
I rather like the Martin too.

'Smelt it.' First thing I do when someone hands me a good acoustic guitar. :-)
Did the tour twice. The smell in there is amazing. It make you want to work there.
Beautiful guitar, your OM-28e! I love my D35 from the 90ies. A guitar for life.
Been smelling my D35 since I bought it in 2009! I find that I have to be careful when putting the guitar in and out of the case due to that metal edge that goes into itself.
I put duct tape on the metal edge
Yes hold the top of the case until the guitar is seated in its mold.

I have a j45 and a martin drs1 but i have always wanted a more high end Martin as they are so beautiful, awesome guitar you have there Mary.
same actually!
Cheers!
I own a 2006 Martin HD-28. Absolute cannon with such a lush tone and sparkle in the high end.
I knew you were from Nashville by your accent
🤣 hehehe . Agreed. I as expecting her to say, “ somewhere in England”!
Really ? I thought that accent was kinda British...
In the style of Tyler Larson: "Things to annoy employees at Guitar Center", by Mary Spender; Ask for a $3000 guitar and just sit and smell it.
Lame. I'm going to ask for a used $100 squire.
And smell it for 20 minutes.
could the intoxication be from evaporating spirits?? lol
So I am curious, what made you choose the LR Baggs over the Fishman pickup?
I believe that Martin has been using LR Baggs as the stock electronics in their acoustics lately.
If my Aura system is anything to go by, I’d imagine...reliability! Plus a load of unnecessarily complicated modes.
There’s nothing better for finger style than the OM-28. They just project so well!
Isn’t that what John Mayer plays?

That moment where you open the case for the first time!......so special. It looks beautiful, and you play it so well. I reckon you’ll own it forever, and it will only get better with age.....enjoy!
Congratulations!!! Nothing like the feels from getting a new guitar. I have a D-18v that I waiting nearly 20 years to acquire. My best friend’s grandfather had a 1936 D-18, playing that guitar ruined me for playing anything but Martins, and I wouldn’t settle until I found a guitar that had the same feel.

Got mine 5 days ago. It’s my sixth over 25 years. Still amazed. Was so impressed with it I wrote the company to thank them.
And yes, liked your video.
I just bought a Martin 000-28 and you’re making me feel better about the extravagance!
I assume nine months later you're still happy about it? There's no purchase I regret less than my OM-28, even though I really couldn't afford it at the time, haha.
@@Tzadeck I have come to love the guitar. Took a little while to get used to the V neck. But you are right - I am very happy with this purchase!
