This is without a doubt one of the best covers of anything I've ever heard. I've been vaguely aware of Mary for a minute now but good googly moogly Mary absolutely slays this tune. This is some true top shelf stuff right here.
I’m a 63 y/o American still listening to Pink Floyd & Alan Parsons Project as my favs but I adore your music. And of course many great pieces of music since growing up in the 70s & 80s. I played guitar until a stroke 8 years ago resulting in the loss of my right hand. But thankfully my hearing is just fine. Thanks for allowing me to have your channel available to me.
I'm a 62 y/o Brit developing rheumatic pain in my hands. I also have tinitus 24/7. There is now answer other than to just keep going. I'm sorry for your plight. I'm sure you are loved. All the music in the world is right there in that love.
Well, it's 4/10/22 and I just discovered Mary Spender. I'm in love. Totally entertaining whether she's playing solo, in duet with others, interviewing artists, or just talking, I'm mesmerized. Excuse me now while I search for more of her stuff.
This video is my 2 & a half year old son's first favourite *real* song ever... we watches this regularly and he's now singing with it and bringing his toy guitar to watch the video. Thank goodness it's a great performance one doesn't get tired of watching.
it could be worse Olivari: a violin video for toddlers, aye ukulele...., maybe a piano..., my musical "career" I think began with my father winning a russian guitar in a lottery and maybe the Eurovision contests! on TV and the american tv show themes! our mum ( now we are two brothers) used to sing and wed go like aaw..., SINGING IS A HUMAN RIGHT! : )
I started playing this through my speakers quite loud and 30 seconds later my dad stumbled through my bedroom door asking who it is i was listening to. You have an extra fan i guess Mary!
Was an excellent cover. Mary's vocals were on point, she held the rhythm on her guitar perfectly and Pete's guitarwork was immaculate as always. One of the best covers I've heard.
Sweet song, sweet voice and lovely rendition. Chilling how Stevie Nicks expressed her bitterness at Lindsay Buckingham with that line "players only love you when you're playing"'. And here, decades later, her bitterness lives on. The power of music!
Cant believe it took me 2 years to find Mary Spender great voice, great guitar player, and a laid back nice person. She is the kind of person that I would support she has a voice of her own on electric guitar more to me than on Acoustic.
@@JurasPriest her playing is very soothing and easy on the ears. The more I watch her play it is her picking hand that is more complicated than what is going on with her freeing hand. I might be wrong but I see her using some triads a lot and it doesn't look that hard. When I tried to play one of her riffs It did not sound even close. Her technique is just spot on in my opinion.
THIS is why I want to play guitar. Not just because it is a beautiful instrument, but because it encourages us all to sing out and to share their beauty with the world. That is what music is; and this, is music.
Mary's voice is beautiful! I also love that they are playing guitars on the less expensive ends from the 2 brands. It shows that they are still high enough quality to sound great.
With acoustics, there are so may variances between each guitar that price only has so much influence on sound quality. I've heard plenty of sub-$500 guitars that sound and feel way better than acoustics $1000 and up. I find the price increase becomes about aesthetics after a while.
if you think price has ANY effect on modern guitars you dont understand guitars. A $300 modern guitar is better than a top end guitar from 40 years ago (cultists heads are exploding now). Thats triply true of electrics.
Mary's voice is just amazing. Love that sultry, sexy lower register and the higher, almost falsetto-ey feeling of the higher parts really did this cover justice. Pete's guitar playing is superb (as is Mary's). Together they gave us one of the best renditions of this song I've ever heard. Mary...I LOVE YOU!!!!!!
Lovely performance. I met Danish Pete three years ago at the iHop near the Anaheim Convention Center. He was leaving breakfast with the Captain. I shook his hand and asked him if he got his name because of his love for pastries, and he laughed pretty hard. It might have been a courtesy laugh, but my steps were a little lighter walking around NAMM that day.
Hearing this excellent but different version of Dreams, makes you appreciate just how well-written the original was. It’s a strong foundation on which others can build something beautiful !
This is a great point. I didn't like Fleetwood Mac much growing up. Not heavy enough. I decided to listen to Rumours about a year ago and was blown away. Of course I'd heard all the songs, most many times, but didn't really listen. The songs are all really well written.
WOW! What more can I say. A great rendition done beautifully! The guitar work was perfect, and Mary is a jewel and a treasure that should be recognized. Beautiful Voice! Love this.
Mary, this the best vocal performance from you that I have heard. Your voice has used it’s full power leading to unambiguous intonation. I enjoy your videos. Well done. You will not get a better accompanist than Pete.
@@JurasPriest this Mary can sing and.. pickup her piano! ( recently Ive acquired some guitar amps i can hardly lift...., solid states, cannot bother the tubes...., NEVER HEARD of any bloke tryin to stop Mary from guitar playing, cheers, Kimmo
Flawless.... Absolutely Flawless! Agree with comments below that regular performances from Spender n' Danish should be on the cards.......... would like to see acoustic versions of non-acoustics tracks aka live lounge performances. Great work!
It's been more than 3 years and I still find it amazing how much stuff there is to learn from both of their performances. Pete's playing is beyond flawless and tasteful, and Mary's playing is like the most beautiful heartbeat.
Not sure how I missed this originally, but sure glad I caught today. Mary's voice is beautiful on this song, and Pete was able to come up with a great supporting guitar part.
That point where Mary goes low register ... sublime. Not heard a more accomplished cover of Dreams.
Haha for a moment I thought it was Pete joining in on the vocals :-)
It's magic isn't it
@@stinkyvonwinky4071 It's certainly not stinky.
Mary has a wonderfully smokey and sweet voice.

Please do more jazz songs Mary. I love your voice.
Yes she does. ot too hard o the eyes either. I took her advice on the Lava guitar. Most fun Ive ever had with my clothes on.
@@ziblot1235 that’s a little creepy...but hey it’s 2021!
Yes she does! I would like to hear more blues from Mary
Mary’s voice and Pete’s playing is a match made in heaven.
Can’t believe this was 7 years ago. Would very much like to see more of Mary and Pete playing music together.
Blown away. Voice of an angel.....
Someone get Mary a raise please.
I'm 72 and I could listen to your covers for ever just love the tone.
WOW! Big thanks from Texas.

Wtf... It is good but stop the nonsense
Check the cover of Sultans of Swing that she made with Leo Moracchioli. Good stuff! ;)
Sometimes a good cover reminds you of how good a song really is.
I never get tired of listening to Mary sing. What a range .
Pete's playing is the popcorn, and Mary's voice and playing is the luxurious melted butter on top.
brilliant stuff guys, that's what music is about! No f-ng auto tune or gadgets, just people genuinely doing art.
Agreed!
Mary's fan here👍
good grief that was a glorious performance. Please invite Mary back again.
That vocal performance was awesome, great job Mary : )

Although Lindsay gave as good as he got. "Rumours" was a psychoanalyst's dream of dysfunction.

I love it when artists “cover” another artist’s song and not “karaoke” it. There’s a difference folks.
Every now and then I come back and watch this again. Something about Pete brings out the best in other musicians he plays with. Same with Rabea
Unbelievable. I am not worthy. Hats off to you Mary!

I've watched this dozens of times. Mary's time keeping is incredible. Like a metronome!
Beautiful version of a great song. Two guitars were enough, and the purity of the song--and the singer--were stunning.
Mary is an awesome addition to Anderton's performers. She's special. I don't know if she will break through and get signed but she SHOULD.
All those jerks she mentioned telling her to put the guitar down, they shall regret it one day. If they actually dont do it right now, anyways... :)
