As a blues musician for the past 40 odd years, I salute this beautiful young lady. She exceptionally talented when one considers that she is just 17 years old. So to those people who are negative and downright rude, stop with the jealousy. Give her the credit she deserves because I seriously doubt that most 17 years old's have got over picking their noses, let alone being able to play a guitar at the incredibly high standard she does. Get over yourselves.
Nice to see some aggressive playing from young Grace. Also, the SG, which is played rarely and sounds so rich. Go girl from me a 72 year old life long player.
She’s doing a great job, but I don’t think John Mayer is feeling threatened by her ability. Put 100 musicians in a room and they’re all going to have their take on life and playing. There’s no reason for envy or jealousy. Be yourself.
That last segment reminded me of the sublime playing of the criminally underrated U.K. guitar god Bill Nelson (of Be Bop Deluxe fame). Just listen to the live version of Life in the Air Age🎸🤘🏻
Just another one..... I have seen enough... I like how she has the frank marino thing with the jacket and SG... hope she gets a good job.... best of luck
There's other ways to explore rhythm, harmonies, time signatures and note groupings than jazz. You can even go that far that you don't give a frog about the format of some music Style and just play whateverfrog you want 🤨
@@ymelfilm Is it? I thought most of these like Balcan or Indian were actually in 4/4, and it's the 5 - 7 - 9 odd groupings going over the bar that make it sound like different time signature. Also, it's just another box of limitations...
@@c3N3q I think, most of the popular music is limited to 4/4 and there is 6/8 in many blues tunes. Also, melody wise, there are great guitarists in this young lady's genre but most of them are limited in that Nashville etc areas. Good and enough to entertain the audience though. I can enjoy a Bonamassa, but a Josh Smith or a Scott Henderson are my favs in this music.
Lots of People were or are great shedders at this age. She raises such a fuss because of her good looks. Samantha Fish is just ok as a player but that Face and Body causes more boys and men to go astray. Its called Show Biz for a reason. Bonnie Raitt has been one of the greatest female players for 30+ years.
Haha, I don't think John is going to be too intimidated, enough young guitar prospects around that you never really hear much from again. I hope John sees this and sees a cool colab. Her style and timing is pretty much perfect, a lot of emotion in the notes.
"...metaphorically speaking" is not the best term to use, *_but,_* while it still smells like clickbait, it's meant to be interpreted as 'poetic license'. It just means this chick has some excellent feel and admirable ability that you wouldn't expect from someone her age, or from a girl, if you want to be regarded as a chauvinist. If you thought you'd see her and John Mayer in a chops throwdown, you were silly. From Merriam-Webster, ":deviation from fact, form, or rule by an artist or writer for the sake of the effect gained - poetic license"
Amazing how people who have achieved nothing themselves like to pull down really talented young achievers instead of encouraging them and giving them credit. How many of these other more talented Nashville guitarists were nominated Americana insrumentalist of the year, made rolling stone mag and been scheduled to play at the Grand ol Opry at 17? It's pathetic! She is really good. I wonder if Susan Tedeschi or Bonnie Rait had to put up with all these negative naysayers when they were young.
As a Gen-xer, I've seen and heard many great guitarists, and Grace is not one of them she's just RUclips famous. When she starts putting out great albums like Texas flood, Axis bold as love, or Room for Squares, then maybe. So please stop putting all this pressure on this young lady and let her grow. Time will tell.
Hope she changes her hair style though. I keep imagining Albert Lee when she plays with her head down. She is amazing however and doesn’t play those Hello kitty guitars like Albert plays now.
She’s good but Nashville has dozens of guitarists that are just as good or better. She’s getting attention because of her gender. Don’t get me wrong, I think she is super talented and I hope she makes it but there are so many dudes in Nashville that surpass her and they get overlooked for some reason. She had someone helping her to get to the right places and meet the right people. It’s great that she has a manager or whatever that knows the landscape and is putting her in the right places to succeed. Comparing her to SRV and others is just silly. Just my unimportant opinion that makes no difference whatsoever. I am glad there are young people that want to carry on the music, whether it be country, rock or blues.
From u.k. My two sons, have been in rock bands for 20 yrs. The eldest was this standard around that age. Then one day, never played guitar again and went for bass, like his brother! I was a bit disappointed, but what can you do! Still, didn’t help me unpaid roadie separate gigs, same night!
She's marginal at best. You are exactly right, it's about gender....Gibson gave her an endorsement before she could even prove herself. How many tours has she done? How many albums has she sold? How many hit songs does she have online, or on the radio??? Zero....She has no street cred, yet has been overexposed by the ripe old age of 17....This is ridiculous....
She does have a really nice feel and you can hear many influences in her playing style. I hear at least 5 distinct artists she is taking from. It’s great. All artists do it. As she gets older and molds all those influences into her own true sound and style, she really will stand out. Good stuff. Not legendary, but really good.
She is a fantastic player, at any age. Too bad you crapped on it with your click bait title. You didn’t even use the appropriate apostrophe in your silly title.
So John Mayer needs a better promotion team? Is that the story? I'm seeing a whole lot of promotion and some C+ and B level performances.Less promotion, more playing and practice. ASTERISM - Church ( watch the Live in Studio version) Hal-Ca wrote when she was 14. That is showing how it is done. There is hundred other young bands that good. Just not so much in the US. Grace could be great, right now she is promising. Don't ruin her with this overhyping.
RIDICULOUS title. NO ONE shows John Mayer “how it’s done”, except BB King and Eric Clapton maybe. Such a ridiculous title. The title of the video tells me you don’t have faith in Grace Bowers. So unnecessary desperate attempt She doesn’t need it ffs.
Are you people serious? Yes is goo, will be better. But to even mention her in the same vain Clapton, Mayer, Guthrie Govan, Mateo Mancuso and etc, etc is a joke. Is it the blonde hair?
There are lots of 17 yo's that can show John Mayer how it's done. He's a pop songwriter who dabbles in blues/rock, most overrated player on the planet. As a guitarist, Grace Bowers, along many many others, buries him.

great blues feel... keep it alive! love those p90's
Talk about clickbaity titles… 😒
Wow, she's phenomenal!
Not sure why John Mayer's name is attached to this. Grace is a great talent. I look forward to watching her develop as an artist and composer.
She’s awesome… but why the click bait?!?!? No like, no subscribe for you.

Good player for one so young, not sure what you’re saying John Mayer should learn from her?

So gifted. She doesn't hold back, speaking her emotions through her guitar. I am an instant fan having just stumbled upon her 10 minutes ago.
Baloney. She's regurgitating riffs. BB King put more emotion in a single note than all of those fast finger-picked runs up and down the scale.
Just fantastic. Every video I watch of her performing, she plays something unexpected and very, very good.
I hope she has every success she deserves.
I wish there were some John Mayer in this video

I HOPE Grace has the right people around her for support. The music industry is like Pedowood.

Grace Bowers needs to meet and learn from Matteo Manuso.
Where does she get these axes?
also SRV - in case anyone missed it !

Ya, but where’s Mayer???
How many of you 'haters' play a guitar? how many of you have nailed your tone?
Hannah Wicklund also had a great tone and playing. Her latest album though, I don't know. Her new BF, bassist of GvF, has spoilt her style I believe.
Will be interesting to hear her in another few years with a bit of mileage under her belt.
