I'm not sure if I understand you correctly, just in case you want to use your desktop as the first screen ( I assume your desktop has hdmi input) and 2nd is the laptop, make sure you connect both to the same wifi network and try to download the spacedesk software to make it happen (not guaranteed tho', It depends what kind of os you have) and or if didnt work try to check the projecting setting on your desktop.. without the help of 3rd party software and or hardware, it will not work.

Best help ever from this person thank you! Tip for those who can't hear game audio: right click your game audio input(settings icon) then click advance Audio Properties. Then change your audio monitoring settings for your audio input capture for your game. Click monitor only(mute output) or monitor and output. Hope this helps!

I have msi gaming laptop, i used it in hp windows 8.1 as well and dell desktop. The performance will depend in your laptop specs and some changes in your settings.

I think the one she is using isn't that expensive, there's one just like it on amazon for $20. it's probably not the best quality but hey it gets the job done
Capture card is the way to do it, if you have the hdmi input port, you don't need the adapter but unfortunately they remove that option to pc's and or laptops. The price of that capture card is not bad especially for beginners like me. And Kathbean is right, it gets the job done 😀

@AC Lawson Channel If you want to enhance this even further, right-click your game console on the sources on OBS and select Full-Screen Projector and you can play your screen on a widescreen without having to look at all the other options and bars.

You have to have the capture card so you will see it.

Try to do the auto configuration wizard for recording.

Yes. Normally laptop has hdmi output same as the switch. You don't need the capture card if your laptop has hdmi input which is very rare to happen.
