I got my Nuobells back in August. I got the 80lb set. I lift 4 days a week. I love them. No issues with them so far

The handle width makes a huge difference. With the new handle width, you're able to use the Mad Spotter 2.0 hooks for shoulder presses or any type of press. The madspotter hooks dont work with nuobells. This is a game changer since you are no longer putting your shoulders in a dangerous position trying to kick heavy DBs to a starting position. The knurling is also 10x better and when pressing the snodes, the handle doesn't rotate in your grip with heavy dbs. When pressing the 80s I always thought a weight was going to fall off due to the handle shifting during a press since that's how you select wright's. That doesn't happen with the snodes. Snodes are superior for sure, and I have since sold my nuobells because of that. The magnetic weight can also be placed on the inside of the DB as opposed to the outside.

This is a great review and helped me decide on the Nuobells - better center of gravity, better feel and smaller incremental weight changes without clumsy add-one. Also, thought it ironic that the dumbbells that are supposed to be the more durable ones came with a crack in them. Thanks you for help in making the decision.

Have you tried doing pullovers or anything where you hold the plates instead of the handle? It feels like something might break when I do it. Just want a second opinion, great vid!

I've seen several videos of guys doing pullovers and goblet squats with the Nuobells. Didn't see any issues with them. I think the plastic "dovetails" holding the plates together are pretty well designed and strong. I think the sturdiness issue people have complained about is the internal shifting mechanism in the handle, which might break if they are dropped hard or abused, apparently.

I just ordered the nuobells. I am a little concerned at the rattling noises that they may make (I believe people have complained about this issue). I live upstairs in an apartment building with very thin walls. Do you think I need to be worried at all? I was also wondering if you thought it might be a good idea to possibly put a tight rubber band around the dumbbell plates as I am using them to keep them together which will do away with the rattling? Maybe doing this would make it a hassle for re-racking them though. And of course this would be a couple of extra steps but was just a thought.

Sorry for the delayed response! I honestly don't think the rattle is loud enough for you to be a nuisance to your neighbors, and I wouldn't worry about the rubber band either!

A set of Pépin Fast 80s are more expensive than both the Nüobell and Snode combined.

Really great review! Thanks for doing the hard work of the testing and comparison for people. It will help me in pulling the trigger on the set that I ultimately choose to buy. One constructive criticism I have, and please take this as me trying to offer this in humility and NOT from a place of perfection (because Lord knows I'm so NOT even close to perfect in this arena), and I know this isn't a speech class, so feel free to roll your eyes and ignore this comment, but the amount of times you say "you know" in your speech is to the point where it actually does become a legitimate distraction from the information you're presenting. A couple of times is one thing - we're all human and trust me I have these nervous ticks too (mine is "make sense?" - I say it all the time when public speaking and it's something I'm working on eliminating), but I think if you worked to try to eliminate or reduce those "you know"s from your talking points, it would definitly raise the caliber of the videos. Thanks again for the great info!
