First day impressions:It arrived in a waist high box. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxP26Tir6n60vUkdtn4mbwhRO8cwuJQNy2 Each dumbbell was in its own foam box within the shipping box. Everything was secure and in good shape. No weird smells. The weight changing mechanism is really smooth and straight forward. Changing weight is really fast and easy. Though the handle is plastic, I don't think it will be breaking anytime soon. So far pretty impressed after my first session with them. I was afraid they were going to be too wide at first, but I didn't have any issues with them while doing upright rows.

I'm hoping Nuobell upgrades their cradle and handles in response to all these head-to-head videos showing their durability is their Achilles heel. I like my Nuobells, but I'm definitely expecting them to fail within the five year extended warranty I got with them. I'm hoping the replacement parts will be stronger, so it's a one-time replacement/upgrade.

I have had the Nuo's for over a year without any real issues. The stand is very nice too. Before that, I has the Soloflex 90's. I've never dropped either of them in a couple of decades of combined use, so I'm ok with durability. It's not like they are over a hundred pounds and you would need to drop them after a set. At this weight, they are more for accessory work than compounds anyway. I've never tried the Snodes, but I'm sure they are good too. Kind of like picking a Ferrari or Lamborghini, they both are great at the job, and a lot depends on individual preferences. Actually glad to hear the Nuobell handles are a bit heavier than claimed--I've been lifting more that I thought :) Love the dumbbell reviews! Ok, back to my back workout....

It would make more sense for the Snodes to take advantage of the longer handle and manufacture a C-shaped magnetic plate (that contoured around the inner ring) that could attach to the inside of the dumbbell so you don’t have those bulky things hanging off the end. Have them in 1.25, 2.5, and 5 lb increments and you would have incremental adjustments and the ability to go up to 90 lbs. If you paired that with another 5 or 10 lb magnetic plate that could attach to the end and you could easily get up to 110 lbs per dumbbell.

Nuobell just needs a bit more metal construction and it would be the all time king of adjustable dumbbells. Snode needs 5lbs increments and that alone would probably close the gap to Nuobells and consumers buying choice.

    • @NathanielDowell
      @NathanielDowell Год назад

This was the first time I realized that part of the Nuobell durability issues are linked to the low starting weight, and per the video, they're already 1.5 lbs over the stated '5lb'. Add a bit more metal, and they're going to be overshooting 5lbs even more. Personally, I think adding another pound in exchange for significantly more durability is a fine tradeoff. However, they could make their cradle rock solid without sacrificing anything. It's even beneficial for the cradle to have more weight, so it stays in place as you rack and unrack the weights. I'm really hoping to see Nuobell respond to the durability concerns with better replacement parts.

I don't know. I think it makes a lot more sense to do it like this, matching up the dbs that appeal to the same general group. For example, the people who swear by the ironmasters and similar dbs have very different priorities than the people who like these, never mind those who like the bowflex and similar. They prize durability and the ability to go heavy above everything else. Its apples to oranges, IMO.

I don't think the 1.1 inches length difference is some kind of problem, just because their handles are longer, which is very suitable for my big hands. Going with Snode AD80. I also think the Snode stand is well designed and solid being cast iron. To me, the Nuobell stand seems generic, especially with so many Nuobells-style knockoffs now on the market. I'd suggest reviews include the stands as it was also part of my decision. I have smaller hands so I hope the longer handle of the Snode isn't a negative. In all honesty would've preferred a rubber hex set but space and cost is a factor. Not to mention the amount of total weight a hex set is 5-80lbs pairs. My gym is second floor of a house and total weight is a consideration.

It would be cool if Snode made weight clips that easily attach to either side of the handles to add 5lbs. You could then clip them on and off for 5lbs increments.

@13:57 Nuo Bell does have wobble with the relationship between the weights and the handle. This wobble comes from a little play in adjustment mechanism. The set I had did have this wobble. I have never held the Snode before.

I ended up ordering the Snodes. My wife, teenage son, and his friends all use my home gym and durability is a big issue. @AverageJoeInnovationsLLC did a breakdown of the Nuobells and it was concerning that they could end up breaking down even just with normal use. I've also seen reports of the handle breaking after accidentally rolling off a bench. That said, I'm disappointed with the "nub" magnets they include with the Snodes since they look like they interfere with setting the dumbbells up on your thighs. I may end up just ordering some PlateMates since those lie flat.

I just ordered the snodes. I'm thinking they can also go on the inside of the dumbell without interfering with your hands. There are also some 3rd party options.

Considering that buying fixed dumbbells with storage rack would cost at least 2x, it's actually pretty cheap. I paid almost 1.5k for only up to 50lbs set fixed dumbbells with rack. I would never get PowerBlock's or Nuobell's because there are too many plastic parts, but Snode's look very appealing to me.

Powerblock is know for durability but the design is too bulky for me I can’t get my self to pull the trigger. Nuobells break by the handles if you drop them. Each brand seems to have cons lol

I am surprised that there was no mention of the 50Ib Nuobell option which is what I woujld get (maybe I missed it), reducing price to $600---also a factor that I like to consider is how quick customer service is replying to queries/parts. On that note, I would like to add I left a message at Nuobell but they never called back--others might be able to chime in on these companies' service responsiveness.

Hi guys, sry for the noob question, but:
Is there a bench for home-rent-appartment that can be all hyperextension, ABS, and press bench?
I have very limited space and have already overdone buying powerrack, so I wonder if there decent stuff that can do all in one, especially hyperextension, so I can place it in the middle of my power rack and only adjust it to a needed exercise.
    Thank you in advance 🙂

In the UK the Nuobell 2-32kg are £699 with a stand costing £159 from a reputable firm. You can buy a set of rubber coated from Mirafit 5-30kg in 2.5kg increments but missing the 22.5kg pair on a rack which is only around 40% bigger footprint than the nuobell stand for £1000. There is no comparison, you get 10 pairs of dumbells that will last a lifetime and take up little more room for less than 20% more.
I know they have to pay for development costs and take up a bit less room etc . But really they are not worth anything like what they are priced at.

I have a home gym (with enough space) and was looking at the nuobells, purely because I also love bait of tech and gadgetry. This comment just convinced me to go with a full set from Mirafit without any worry of ever damaging the weights from drops (not that I really drop weights) Thanks a lot :)

I have pair of nuobells for 3 years soon and both me and my wife are super satisfied. HOWEVER, do you guys experice rust appearing here and there? Im the swetier one so i always try to dry them after training but i assume small damage can happen when you accidentally ''clink'' them together and that may cause some chipping off paint etc. Any recommendations and tips for maintenance would be welcomed

I see the more benefits Nuobell has but to be honest the durability is just too important comparing to 1 more inch in lenght or colour choices or other benefits. If i would buy i would buy Snode.

  • @edmundlucido528

Thanks for this comparison. I have the Nuobell 550 and I just got the upgrade kit to make into the 580. The plastic parts was not an issue as I do not drop it purposely anyway. The upgrade kit I got has a damaged plastic part but Nuobell and my Canadian dealer had the replacement part and it was easy to replace. The design indeed is smart. the 5lb increment is indeed important for the average home gym user. I am based in Ontario, Canada for context. I almost bought the Snode AD80 but thanks to your reviews, I decided to just upgrade my Nuo550. More power to your channel.

The 5lbs increments and quick changeability of the Nuobells is enough to keep me from the wants. My wife uses our home gym so it’s a must to either have adjustable with smaller increments otherwise I would just dedicate the space to a full dumbbell rack . Also I would never trust magnets while pressing over head or face 😂 bad idea
