Here’s my chair+ hog story. Hubby & I bought VIP tickets to a buffet area at a Scottish Highland Games event. It was clearly stated that there was NO RESERVED SEATING in the entire area. First come, first served, best seats, etc. So we waited to get in early and get good seats because during lunch there was going to be some entertainment going on that we would be able to see from the venue if we got good seats. Someone had been allowed in and had put decorations on quite a few of the best tables and just left them. No one was sitting at any of the tables. I spoke with the staff to see what was going on and they explained that a wedding party was meeting there and had put the decorations on the tables. I said that on the website it said there was no reserved seating. She said she knew but someone from the event had allowed them to do it anyway. So my husband and I removed the decorations from the table we wanted to sit at and got comfy. About a half an hour later the wedding party arrived and were quite miffed that we had taken one of “their” tables. We told them we were there first and there was no reserved seating. If they had wanted to save tables there should have been a person there - I’m getting hyped up just writing this. They got someone from the event to ask us to relocate and we said no. Why should we be denied one of the best tables when we were there before them and it was quite clear that they had done something against the rules. Plus, there were plenty of other tables available. It was not crowded at all but I am short so I tend to wait a bit longer to make sure I get a seat where I can see well. There was really nothing anyone could do, we were perfectly justified in what we did but we both felt horrible about it. The selfish people had ruined our time there and we had paid just as much as they and gotten there ahead of them. We have never really talked about it and have not returned to the event either. Entitled people suck!
There's a new category of chair hogs arising ...table hogs. You go to the buffet and get your food, but when you try to find a seat you see scores of people reading, playing cards or dominos. You can tell they've been there a while and they are not even eating...
I love my dogs. I have two miniature dachshunds and when I cruise I pay someone good money to house sit and tend to them (about $100 a day). The cost has to be factored into my vacation so I would have incentive to bring my dogs but I still wouldn’t. My dogs will bark if an ant farts in the woods. Can you imagine how annoying that would be at 3 am while you’re trying to sleep? They also will pee or poop where ever if they are nervous, which they would be on a cruise surrounded by strangers and what a mess that would be. If you have a genuine service animal I can see that being ok but just a beloved pet, no, that’s a disaster waiting to happen.
The chair hog situation will never change. I go to the pool that's less desirable and leave my stuff in a far away chair, stacked up with my kids stuff too in 1 chair. We swim, get out, gather our stuff and leave. Imagine if everyone did that. - Also per the note below about the buffet seating. You should not find a table and park your stuff , then look for food. Just uses up that table for extra time. Find you food, find a table, eat, and move on to your next adventure. If you want to play a game, read, chit chat, there are plenty of other places to do that.
We were on a cruise and they had the bed loungers with cushions. There was a couple in one and the one next to them had towels and bags on it. I sat it one next to that one. 45 minutes goes by and nobody shows up. Then I hear the husband tell the wife to remove the stuff from the "saved" lounger. It was their stuff all this time. REALLY?????? As for the dogs, are they sanitizing all the rooms where these dogs have been?? The next cruisers may be allergic to dogs, like my wife, and unknowingly are staying in this room.
No toy weapons on cruises. Too easy to mistake them for real and if there’s kids on the cruise you know they’re going to be super annoying playing with them wherever you’re trying to read.
I’ve wondered about dogs: I would love to bring my standard poodle on a long cruise - though she loves swimming and I don’t think the ships offer any pooch pools…😂
If I see someone being a chair hog, I just pick their stuff up and move it far away to an unknown location. Jk, i just move it to the chair next to me or ask a ataff member to remove it. On the ither side of the coin, I was at a water park and had two lounge chairs and umbrella with my backpack, towel and other personal items. Wnet to go on a water slide and came back and a certain group of people were sitting on the chairs and were sitting there like it was their stuff. I wasnt chair hogging, we were actually actively using them.
I love pups but I’m allergic to cats and dogs, which is why I no longer own either. But I think I’d rather sail with dogs than some of these rude passengers like chair hogs. 😂 Just saying.
Dog and Pet cruise ships for the win!! Name the ship after Cesar Milan and film episodes of him helping people with their dogs on board. This is for everyone freaking out about animals on cruise ships not being clean when children are the dirtiest things on a cruise (Petri dishes of germs) reported pooping in pools 😮 Ewww
Absolutely no, no dogs... leave them at home... especially if folks have allergies. Now if there all dogs on the cruise then so be it.. i just wont be on that cruise. Do they tell folks that dogs are welcome before I book my cruise..
Any cruise that dogs are on I will avoid that cruise. I am allergic to dogs. My daughters and granddaughter own dogs when I visit the kept the dogs in their cage.
I would take my dog on a cruise cuz he’s super friendly and obedient but there’s no way I’m going on a cruise with the other people’s crazy dogs. Just NO!
I’m not really concerned about the dog issue. I’ve seen enough people act like barbarians on cruise ships. I do think it’s really not a good idea, some people are afraid, allergic etc. I do see the bathroom issue as a problem. Once again, you talk about chair hogs. People fighting on , smoking dope , didn’t somebody bring and show off a gun. Really, I’m not worried about dogs.
This is why there would never be a cat cruise... My cat would get on the bridge and knock the track ball off the cona nd bunny kick the ship into oblivion... So we pay our cat sitter Uncle Ron.
I guess you don’t love them enough. My heart hurts to leave my pups behind! We will be cruising for a total of 14 days in 2025 and I’m so not looking forward to leaving them behind. They have feelings and miss their humans! We are literally their whole world!
How are we going to evacuate a ship if it's going to sink people and dogs lifeboats are only designed to handle people I can't imagine people trying to bring their pets onto lifeboats I think this is a safety issue

I would rather go on a cruise with a bunch of dogs vs people 😂😂

Remove the towels if no one is sitting there.
Never touch anyone's stuff. Let staff do it. Opens you up to problems and potential confrontation with the other guest.
@@tduck828 Hmmm....sounds like a chair hog to me 😂

Its a cruise not a kennel. Being surrounded by thousands of people is bad enough...I dont want to add their muts to the crowd.

Where do they bathroom? (where ever they want?)
RC has specific areas for them to go.
If you can't bring these toy items on ship, Carnival shouldn't take pirate pics with swords in the dining room...

People bring their dogs on my public commuter train all the time. They are not supposed to. The dogs generally behave better than the owners.
No way I am going on a cruise with a bunch of dogs
Don't tell me that crusing has gone to the DOGS!
Sooo excited for the dog cruise! Anyone who is being negative about this, I wouldn’t want to cruise with you anyway 😆
I’ve wondered about dogs: I would love to bring my standard poodle on a long cruise - though she loves swimming and I don’t think the ships offer any pooch pools…😂
As Crocodille Dundee did at the dinner - someone is looking forward to a short nap

Dogs on a cruise would be a deal breaker for me.
Definitely no, on cruising with dogs. Accidents waiting to happen
dogs should stay home, and I love dogs and love my dog
I guess you don’t love them enough. My heart hurts to leave my pups behind! We will be cruising for a total of 14 days in 2025 and I’m so not looking forward to leaving them behind. They have feelings and miss their humans! We are literally their whole world!
No dogs, do not think kid weapons areacceptable.
They were not weapons they were toys
