  • A fifth compilation of some of the best acting scenes and/or performances of all time. I know there are many missing. It is just a glimpse. Also, it is a subjective list, I don't claim it to be objectively correct, if there's such a thing.

Demián Bichir - A Better Life
    Clive Owen - Closer
Philip Seymour Hoffman - Almost Famous
    Josef Bierbichler - Winterreise
Robin Williams & Amanda Plummer - The Fisher King
John Cazale & Al Pacino - Dog Day Afternoon
Emily Watson - Breaking the Waves
    Peter Lorre - M
    Frank Langella - Frost/Nixon
    Frances McDormand - Fargo
River Phoenix - My Own Private idaho
    Denzel Washington - The Hurricane
Andrew Garfield - The Social Network
Mads Mikkelsen - Jagten (The Hunt)
Jack Nicholson - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

Robin Williams did not commit suicide because he was depressed. He actually was diagnosed with a terrible form dementia. I’d like to think that he really didn’t want to do it but did it so his family and fans alike didn’t have to see him suffer. He was probably going to die from the dementia in a far more painful way. We don’t really know what he was thinking, but from the kind and gentle guy he was when he was alive, I’m sure he was thinking about his family, friends, and fans during his last moments. Just thought I’d clear up some things and shed a light on what he was really going through. It truly was a tragic thing that happened and he was a great man.

I’ve never seen one of his movies, but I’ve heard a lot about him. What’re some of his movies, and what happened to him?

    • @shijutu
      @shijutu 3 года назад +8

@@sparksfly6149 A bit late but... River died at the age of 23 the last day of October in 1993 because of a drug overdose outside the nightclub the viper room. John Frusciante is said to have given the drink that killed him. He told one of his friends that he wasn't feeling well and he thought that he was overdosing but his friend just said ''don't worry you're fine, you are still standing up and walking''.
Only minutes later he collapsed outside the club. His brother, Joaquin called 911 and he held him in his arms as he was dying. The 911 call was leaked to the public and played everywhere, people flew over their home with helicopters, they broke into the funeral home and took pictures of him in his casket and sold pictures of it.. Literally terrorizing his family. Because of all of this, the Phoenix family is really really private and they rarely speak about River's death. Joaquin hates the press, he truly looked up to his brother.
Now, movies... My own private Idaho with Keanu Reeves, he actually wrote the scene seen in this video. Also like to mention that River and Keanu was good friends - best friend and they met when making the movie 'I Love You to Death'. More movies: 'Stand by me', 'Running on empty', 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade ' and a couple more... Stand by me is a classic and I really recommend it - it really hits home.
I strongly recommend watching him, he was one of a kind. He was truly talented and a sweet person. He was really good at playing guitar and he loved music. There's times where you're like ''is he even acting anymore?'' James Cameron actually wanted River to play Jack in Titanic, but as we know he passed away before that so the role went to Leo instead - the best replacement at the time. I really recommend reading about his life because he went through some rough things in his childhood and life. One fucked up thing is that he lost his virginity at FOUR years old when his family was in a cult called Children of God. It is truly fucked up.
Read about his life and what he did during his short time here. He was nothing but kindhearted and the kind of talent he had you don't see often. He would've definitely be standing next to his little brother today in terms of acting. He wanted to change the world and I can only imagine what he could've done if he had lived a couple of more years. Sorry if this is all a mess, English isn't my first language. We had a big loss, this is the 27th year without him. Almost 30 years. Rest in peace.

Dude I love these compilations. What sets them off is the music.... It's almost like these scenes are in a music video and they are genuinely legit scenes from this cinephile's perspective as I have either seen or have been inspired to see the films that are sampled.... Long live cinema and filmmaking!!' Art imitating life is the most beautiful of all the arts because we live life in a reality that beckons and yearns to identify with another human on a level is not necessarily reserved for the physical world. We only identify with humanity if we consume the imaginative cultures of others with an open mind with an innate readiness to be inspired by whatever is beyond you, whether reality or fiction. It's all life birthed from lives lived and lost; the sum total of a life painted by imagination. Experience and love will overcome anything, and that's what films do.

You know… Fargo is a funny movie.
But I’ve never realized how powerful that scene is of Margie thoughtfully lecturing the convict. It’s easy to take for granted or poke fun at high strung small town folk. But the weight and questioning nature of her performance is really convincing- making it enviable to be so content with strong moral values and having no understanding or empathy for vice. As an outsider currently living in the great state of Minnesota, that hits deep. There’s lots of people in small town America, and other places just like Margie out there and that is some real shit.

You know who deserves more acknowledgement? Brad Dourif. He delivers an amazing performance EVERY. DAMN. TIME. He single-handedly saved The Exorcist III, it was an awful movie outside of Patient X. He voiced Chucky, one of the most iconic genre characters in history. He got an Oscar nomination for his screen debut, as Billy Bibbit in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. I've never disliked a single performance of his. Absolutely one of the most underrated actors in the business today.

Love that you have the scene from The Fisher King in here, one of my favourite scenes ever though I would have loved if you had included the bit just before where Robin runs down the street after her, that is some awesome acting right there! And while yes, Jack's performance in One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest shines above most others, his performance in The Last Detail is my favourite of all his films.
